    Zane and Maggie are a hot mess—both have so much emotional baggage it’s a miracle they manage to stay in the same room without setting off fireworks. Zane is a recovering drug addict, struggling to figure out how to love Maggie the way she deserves—or risk losing her for good. Maggie, on the other hand, grew up with a self-absorbed father who never bothered to teach her what real love looks like, so she’s got a lot to work through herself. For about 75% of the book, these two spend more time fighting their personal demons than they do working through their relationship, and while that can be frustrating, it also makes for a tense and emotional read.

    Maggie’s character doesn’t always win you over. At times, she feels a bit too stubborn or naive, but you’ve got to respect her for demanding what she needs from Zane before fully giving herself to him. She doesn’t settle for half-love or empty promises, and she’s not afraid to walk away when things aren’t working. It’s a tough stance to take, but she earns points for knowing her worth.

    Then there’s Zane. He’s a sexy rock god with a troubled past, which means he has way more opportunities to screw things up than most guys. For years, he takes advantage of Maggie’s love, using his talent and allure to justify bad behavior. Pot-smoking, womanizing, and emotional immaturity are his go-to moves, even though deep down he knows he’s hurting Maggie. It’s frustrating to watch him waste so many chances, but his journey to self-awareness is one of the better parts of the book.

    When Zane finally reaches his breaking point, it’s a much-needed wake-up call: if he doesn’t quit the bad habits and become the man Maggie deserves, he’ll lose her for good. It’s a pivotal moment, and while it may seem obvious to the reader, Zane’s internal struggle adds complexity to his character. Maggie, meanwhile, stands by him every step of the way, and they work together to finally get the happy ending they’ve both been desperately seeking.

    While the road to romance here is long and littered with mistakes, this book has heart and a lot of growth. If you like your romance with a side of redemption, a dash of rockstar angst, and a couple of characters who are more dysfunctional than a reality TV couple, this is your ride. Just don’t be surprised if you spend more time frustrated than swooning—but hey, that’s love, right?

    This was far and away the best book in the series. Seriously! Maybe because we were teased about it from the beginning. But I think it was because, like Seth and Ash before him, Zane was such a rich, damaged, complex, well thought out character. This one actually had me tearing up. The scenes with Zane and Seth, chef’s kiss. So heartbreakingly real, with both of them bleeding the truth about addiction and its costs. And then Zane telling Brody, Jude and Maggie, ugh! “I wanted a drink.” 😭 Even Maggie and her flawed need for the love of a dad who couldn’t love her, and the damage that did to her adult life. And Zane and Maggie are definitely my favorite couple. Thank you for this!

    Not every story needs murder, mystery and all that jazz to make it good. Sometimes they just need the angst to get you hooked and to cheer on the characters like these do. Rock stars and the people who love them in spite of their flaws.

    Jesse and Katie - normal girl meets rock star, normal girl stars in rock star's music video, normal girl steals rock stars heart. Sounds simple, right? Not for these two, not when you have to get over each other's past either.
    Jessa and Brody - Loving someone since you were a child is hard. Not knowing if that love is returned is harder. Add in the fact that messed up and walked away, then you have Jessa's story.
    Ella and Seth - Thinking you love someone and that someone not loving you back is crushing. Letting go is crushing. But then that pressure is released, sometimes when someone else comes in your life. Someone you thought was gone for good.
    Dylan and Amber - Threes a crowd and it isn't any more apparent when one person in that crowd is in love with someone that doesn't love them back in the same manner.
    Zane and Maggie - The way people in a person's life love them can make them feel like that can't love. Toss in some facts like that girl's dad is a rocker just like and the same patterns repeating themselves in your life and it might just take a little more than just you saying you love them to prove it true.

    These books were great. Dealing with things that a lot of people deal with in their lives. It put you right in the story. Fear, loss, addiction and the fact that the love of the right person can get you around it all.

    I really enjoyed the entire series, and amazingly for me, I read them in order and am so glad I did. There is so much to be gained about all the characters and all the intermingled plots by reading in order. I was driven after Book 1 to read them all because I really wanted to read Zane’s story. In the end, although I liked it, it was not my favorite. But his story was excellent although I found Maggie’s to be a little weak; still all in all enjoyable. The cover art still sucks, in my opinion.
    Now, I’m on to Players although Ash is not my favorite at this time. Who knows?

    I loved this book and series. I don’t think I can choose a favourite book out of them all because they were all incredible in different ways.
