    The stories are engrossing enough, with good plot twists and enough mystery to follow to the series’ end. Like the TV movies where a realtor or baker or bookstore owner are constantly turning up dead bodies, and solving the crime (!), this series makes “Divine, Kansas” a dangerous place to live. Small town, one dead body per book? Do the math. Soon no one will be left.
    But that’s not the point, since these are cozy mysteries designed to entertain and bolster faith in life’s perils. It will be worth sticking with since threads are still unraveled and relationships still up in the air….

    I have read every book in Hope Callaghan's series. I read each of these books when they were individually released and now they are offered in a box set. Joanne Pepperdine is the lead character in this series. She had a troubled childhood as her father treated her mother horribly. When both parents were deceased, Jo inherited the family fortune. As her mother died in prison Jo had a longing to help women incarcerated. Before she sets her plan in action she is overcome with depression and attempts suicide by jumping off a bridge. She is pulled from the river by two men, as witnessed by a man from the bridge. By the time he got to her Jo was alone with no indication anyone else had been there. Angels?????? Could it be? Jo finds a farm for sale that is perfect for her plans. There are colorful characters in the town of Divine, Kansas and some welcome Jo with open arms, some not so much. She along with her pastor screen and choose women ready to be released to come and live and work at the farm, earn money and skills to make it on their own when they are ready to leave the group home. Each story takes you through trials and tribulations that the residents and townspeople deal with. This is a totally clean series. I love them and I think you will too !

    I just finished the box set and can’t wait to read the rest of the series. The main character, Jo, is a hero in the eyes of her friends and the women she brings to her second chance women’s home. With her best friend Delta by her side they help women released from prison to start a new life. There is lots of laughter and sleuthing going on as they go about the business of helping women learn how to live independently again. Fun read!
