USA Today Bestselling author Kat Mizera is a South Florida native.     I'll start by saying that I haven't read any other books in the series, but that didn't keep me from being able to understand what was going on in this book.

    Dmitri is a professional hockey player. Angel is a 20 year-old student, living with the people who adopted her little sister. She's had a hard life, through a series of events (death of parents, homelessness, etc.). Angel and Dmitri started seeing each other, not intending it to be something serious, but then it became more.

    And then (and I don't think it's a spoiler because it's in the description of the book!) Angel finds out she's pregnant.

    There are two main conflicts in the story - the internal conflict of Angel feeling like she might have screwed up her life again, and the external conflict in the form of Dmitri's ex-girlfriend and dad (his dad, not hers).

    Everything is resolved rather quickly, and Dmitri was very sweet and stuck up for Angel against anyone who had anything to say. Dmitri's mom was also a bright spot (definitely not a monster-in-law!).

    The only thing I didn't like was when Dmitri said he did sleep with his ex-girlfriend (and it technically wasn't cheating because he and Angel weren't exclusive, which is what he explained). I get it (logically) and Angel understood and wasn't really mad, but it still made me cringe, I think because of the way he said he "had to be sure." So you slept with her, and then were like, "nope, still like the new girl better." Okay.

    I did like this story, and I will read others in the series.

    This is a condensed, shorter version of the Kat Mizera books we’ve come to love. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is because short stories don’t get the character development that I prefer. If you love either short stories or Kat Mizera, you’ll be happy with this one!

    I enjoyed this short look into Angel & Dimitri’s life. It was a sweet story of love & surprises as they start their journey together. I was a little saddened by the ending but thus is the life. Definitely recommend to read as well as the entire series.
