The Domville 6: A friends to lovers romance Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 27 ratings

A friends to lovers romance

Toni Bradbury was nervous for her ten-year university reunion in The London Domville’s ballroom. She hadn’t seen Finian Delaney in all that time. Just the thought of him made her heart race and palms sweat. Best friends from the moment they met in college and inseparable throughout university, they’d never once ended up in each other’s beds. It wasn’t for lack of attraction on her part.

With his sexy Irish lilt, wild untameable dark locks, eyes as stormy blue as the Celtic sea he’d grown up near, Finian was the guy all the women wanted. Finian was the guy all the women got. Except for Toni. She’d always wondered why, but when he left for Dubai and never looked back, he took the answers with him.

Sparks fly when the former friends reunite, but would it fan the flames of desire, or burn their friendship forever?

The Domville 6 is the sixth in a series of standalone hot reads that take part in the exclusive six-star hotel chain. They are told in alternating points of view of the hotel guests and/or staff.

All of them can be read as standalone stories in which ever order you choose.
Not all of them are guaranteed a happy ever after, and some cover topics and push boundaries that I felt strongly enough about to explore.

I first received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review...once again this series is freaking amazing!!! CJ needs to write this installment as a full-length novel and all would be right with the world! This book gives a whole new meaning to the idea of a university reunion!!! Full of heat, steam, and PLOT TWISTS!!! Definitely a must read!

This is a story that started out friendship and ended with passion and love. A long separation and reuniting of 2 people and a dog. Love can't be stopped or given away. I loved this story because it gives hope. The remember to read the rest of the seriex.

    Review:

The sixth instalment of the Domville! How did that even happen so quickly?
So the sixth in the series focuses around Toni and how their estranged friendship and close bond ended rather suddenly. How their connection was never lost despite ten years being lost.
But this time, Toni would be the one to run from Finian ten years later, giving him a taste of his own medicine...

    Excerpt:
"I love you, Finian Delany", I whispered, then let out a heavy sigh of regret and slipped out of the door into the corridor.

But would Toni ever be able to forgive the hurt he had caused her and be able to let anyone else back in? It would be a big ask...

Finish never truly realising the damage he had caused when ending their relationship with such little warning.

    Excerpt:
You've missed a lot, Fin. You broke her when you left and I'm not sure she's ever found all the pieces. She lost her spark...I think she believes if someone she was that close to could turn their back on her, how can she ever trust another man?

Another great instalment to the Domville series, although I feel it had a slightly different feel. Very much worth a read (as ever!). The continuity of CJ Fallowfield's storyline, even down to previous stories is faultless and draws the readers in from the first Kate until the very last.

    Final Excerpt:
I had nothing left to lose, except more of my heart if he hurt me again. I made up my mind in an instant. My heart was his anyway, it would always be his. If he walked away, he may as well take it with him, as I'd have no more use for it.

    **ARC GIVEN FOR HONEST REVIEW**

    5*

Toni has been in love with Finian forever. They met on their first day of college. Over the span of five years they spent most days together, becoming inseparable and the best of friends. Toni always managed to hide her true feelings from the only guy who had captured her heart and soul. But with graduation fast approaching and future plans for the best of friends veering in separate directions, infused with alcohol one night enhancing her confidence, Toni takes the plunge and lets her true feelings known. It’s a revelation that changes their whole friendship in an instant, forever.

What Toni assumed to be a solid friendship she shared with Finian, her declaration results in seeing him in a whole new perspective. The guy, who had always been her support, confidant and secret love since the first day their eyes met, now with the knowledge of her true feelings for him, ups and leaves without even a parting goodbye. And all the promises he pledged to his long-term closest friend, disappeared along with him, leaving Toni heartbroken and devastated.

Ten years on after graduation, and its reunion time at the famous hotel chain, The Domville. When the invitation first arrives, Toni is adamant she will not attend. It’s her past, and she wants to concentrate on her future. But when she catches word Finian will be attending, Toni contemplates this could be the perfect opportunity to resolve answers to so many questions from the guy who stole her heart and stomped all over it, all those years back.

Toni knows as a person she has grown in strength and confidence over the years, and life is good. But will she be able to maintain that strength to confront the only man who still affects her in a way no man has done before or since Finian Delany, when they come face to face a decade later???

The Domville 6 is another, enthralling addition to The Domville series. The story plays out yet again so effortlessly, with words and characters pulling you right in and holds you captive till the very end. The beauty of this authors works is though The Domville is a series of short novellas, there’s always the opportunity for the author to extend each part of this fabulous series at a later date due to leaving the reader longing for more from each mesmerising story.

Complimentary copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

If you’ve been following the series thus far you’ll know that it is a little bit of a departure from Fallowfield’s previous work. The Domville series has been a little more on the darker side; each story has held the possibility of a less than happy ending. The sixth volume though is just what we needed to put a little lightheartedness back in the series. Fans of Fallowfield’s are in for a treat with the appearance of some former characters, where she brings their stories to some long awaited closure.

Toni and Finian were the best of friends at university, yet after graduation Finian cut her from his life completely without notice. So when the invitation arrives for their tenth reunion, she immediately dismisses the notion of attending, simply because she doesn’t want to face Finian. But when prodded by her best friend Alexis to finally face him and get the answers she deserves she caves, but will one night of long-awaited passion be the final nail in the friendship between them? Is there every the possibility of rekindling that friendship, much less a romance?

As we’ve come to expect with Fallowfield this story is HOT. I’m a huge fan of the friends to lovers trope and this one is no exception. The decade’s worth of buildup is palpable from Toni and Finian’s very first exchange at the reunion, and this tension is explosive when they finally act upon it. This is easily one of my favorites of the series thus far and fans will not be disappointed in the least.
