Victoria DeLuis is a short story author and novelist, who loves reading – everything – and writing paranormal cosy mysteries, light urban fantasy, supernatural romantic suspense, and the occasional sci-fi.

She was born and raised in South Wales, where she still lives with her husband, daughter, three overlord cats and a doting dog. This offers her a rich heritage and mythology to use in her stories.

After the birth of her fabulous daughter, she decided to abandon the corporate life, return to education, and pursue her lifelong passion for writing. She studied creative writing and gained a first class honours degree and a Masters in Novel Writing.

She is now busy, busy, busy: Being a mum, writing (and doing all the additional tasks that come with publishing), and running her small book promotion site.

Her works include the Rune Witch Mysteries, the Independent Necromancers' Bureau, and the Relic Guardians (with Meg Cowley).

I really enjoyed the first book and absolutely loved this second one. I love that Eira has found friends in Susan and Gemma and the relationship she has formed with Fleur. The paranormal aspect is great but I also like that it isn't the focus of the book. Eira is smart, resourceful and cunning and she uses that to her advantage when she gets caught in hard situations. I can't for the next one to come out and will be reading one of Victoria's other books to pass the time.

Finding dead bodies is beginning to wear on Eira. She and two friends are staying at a hotel for a baking competition. And is again drawn into a murder investigation, the victim being a celebrity chef and a judge for the competition. Can Eira's catch the killer?

Great book with likable characters, except for the bad guys, of course. I really like how Eira is growing in confidence and in friends. I am really looking forward to the next in the series. Hope that it comes out soon. 😊

I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed the first book in this series. Now that Eira’s got Fleur who’s like having a daughter as well as two new besties to hang out with, this book was even better than the first. I love what Eira’s able to do with people who mess with her like perps and killers. It was hilarious how the one guy reacted too! Made for some easier work for her police friend Kate and the law enforcement team. I’m definitely gonna borrow the next book soon! I didn’t realize there were so many of these now and a new one coming in November so I do have time to catch up.
