Elemental: A Young Adult Indian Paranormal Romance (Elementals of India) Kindle Edition
India, 1851
When the British first arrived, Meera saw them for who they were: ruthless invaders who cared nothing for the land and the people who called it home.
Captain Michael Dalton proves her wrong.
But as the Guardian of the Forest, she can't afford to let her walls down, even if this kind-eyed English soldier stirred her heart in ways she had never experienced before...
Michael Dalton thought the secret forest was a dream—a lush woodland, hidden just a few miles from their barracks, full of fragrant blooms and aromatic fruit…
And then she had appeared.
Long, dark hair. Stunning amber eyes, huge and ringed with kohl.
He has to see her again.
When Meera meets Michael, the attraction between them is undeniable.
But what Michael doesn't know is that there's more to Meera than meets the eye...and her secret could end up being the death of them both.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2020This is a historical fantasy of the Raj days, set amid lush blooms of a forest in Secunderabad, India. Which would have taken its name from Alexander the Great, proving that armies march and provinces are conquered through time immemorial.
I enjoyed the tale which demonstrates various sides of the story, through characters which seem a bit one-dimensional but that's because of the short nature of the novella. From their deft handling I have no doubt that this author would write novels well. I also enjoyed the natural environment - missing a tiger perhaps?
Do not expect a happy ending, any more than in Madame Butterfly; operas never end well.
I downloaded a free ARC. A review was not required. This is an unbiased review.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2022This is a beautiful love tales of two individuals from totally different countries. The settings India. A beautiful emerald forest, overseen by an exotic maiden. Sudha Kuruganti is a talented author. Whenever you read a book by Sudha Kuruganti you know you get certain things: the book is well-structured, well-proofed and well-edited; the storyline is fast-paced, without trite or contrived scenes; the story is strongly written, the characters are complex and well-developed and the dialogue is honest and believable. The writing is fast-paced. This book is a real page-turner. You won’t want to put it down, so clear your diary, get comfortable and settle in for a treat. I received this novel through StoryOrigin. I have written a fair and honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2020I enjoyed this story of an English officer falling in love with an Indian mage. These are two strong characters with their own lives and priorities, and I enjoyed watching them learn to love each other. I especially loved his open-mindedness and her patience, and that both were hard won.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2020Nice story. It's about two people from different cultures coming together and bonding only to be ripped apart in the most cruel way. Its an interesting story and a prequel. I was given this novel in exchange for an honest review.
