Elf Defence (Adventures in Aguillon Book 2) Kindle Edition
Enter one Lars Melker, a slightly gullible cowherd built entirely of muscles and sunshine, who happily accepts their word when they tell him he’s the duke now. Soon Calarian and Benji are knee deep in teaching Lars how to fake it until he makes it. They're also dealing with mountain trolls, a monster, a missing cow, and, most shocking of all, a growing realisation that their elves-with-benefits arrangement might be turning into something with feelings. Add in their mutual attraction to Lars, and suddenly the hills are alive with the sound of emotionally compromised collectivist anarchist elves.
Also, what’s the deal with those leather shorts?

About the authors
Lisa likes to tell stories, mostly with hot guys and happily ever afters.
Lisa lives in tropical North Queensland, Australia. She doesn't know why, because she hates the heat, but she suspects she's too lazy to move. She spends half her time slaving away as a government minion, and the other half plotting her escape.
She attended university at sixteen, not because she was a child prodigy or anything, but because of a mix-up between international school systems early in life. She studied History and English, neither of them very thoroughly.
She shares her house with too many cats, a dog, a green tree frog that swims in the toilet, and as many possums as can break in every night. This is not how she imagined life as a grown-up.
Lisa has been published since 2012, and was a LAMBDA finalist for her quirky, awkward coming-of-age romance Adulting 101, and a Rainbow Awards finalist for 2019’s Anhaga.
Sarah started life in New Zealand. She came to Australia for a working holiday, loved it, and never left. She lives in Western Australia with her partner, two cats, two dogs and a life-size replica TARDIS.
She spends half her time at a day job and the rest of her time reading and writing about clueless men falling in love, with a dash of humour and spice thrown in along the way.
Her proudest achievements include having adult kids who will still be seen with her in public, the ability to make a decent sourdough loaf, and knowing all the words to Bohemian Rhapsody.
She has co-authored both the Bad Boyfriends, Inc and the Adventures in Aguillon series with Lisa Henry. Socially Orcward, the third book in the Aguillon series, was runner up in the Best Asexual Book category in 2021's Rainbow Awards.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2020Calarian and Benji (impossibly beautiful elves that weren’t really cousins) are sent on a quest. Their quest goes sideways, but really how else could it go with two beautiful but not too bright elves?
The best part about scaring someone from a tower, (not that killing someone is good you understand) was that they met Lars. Most beautiful human they’ve ever seen. Through all their trials, they persevered, except Benji got hooked on gingerbread. Deep, soul need, addiction.
Funny, sexy, (what the heck is an alchemist with a twist anyway?) over the top good book.
(Authors should get an award for the most imaginative use of a musical).
- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2020I don't think I've loved a sequel more. Benji and Cal (From Red Heir) continue their "Elves with Benefits" relationship. I love Benji's anarchist little heart, Cal's more 'open to humans' soul and the way both of them added Lars to their little collective.
The references to The a certain musical are clever and hilarious! There were so many passages I wanted to highlight that I would have coloured the entire book.
Absolutely enjoyed it and highly recommend 👍

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: for the most part
Was I invested in the characters: yes
📖 Story comment: easy pace, likeable characters, reasonable flow (although I found the middle dragged on just a bit long). This was a light MMM fantasy adventure, there are some fun moments, some eye-rolling moments, and if not taken too seriously, it's an entertaining story. I enjoyed the references to the crazy ex-nun singing with the blond children on the mountainside.
🎧 Narrator comment: I enjoy Nick Russo as a narrator, he has good cadence, inflections and intonations and it's easy to distinguish the characters from each other. He did a great job bringing the characters of Elf Defence to life, and they were consistent with the voices of Book 1. Overall an enjoyable performance and I look forward to book 3.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2021I immediately started reading this after I read the first book in the series, and I couldn't put ot down! Its a fast paced quick read, and I adored the romance between the three main characters. Its got quite a few funny bits and a cameo you definitely won't see coming. If you like m/m fluff, you will probably enjoy this book :)
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2021I was super excited to see a second book in this series, and even more excited that it featured Cal and Benji. Just like the first it was hilarious, ridiculous in the best of ways, very, very sweet with a couple truly heartfelt adorable moments, and just overall a great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The second book is as good as the first
The story of Cal, Benji and Lars is as funny as the first book! You’ll pass a good time reading. The humour and ridiculousness goes hand in hand in this quest story.
The love between Cal and Benji gets finally recognized as they become a triad/trouple with Lars. They finally recognized that even if they are elves they caught feelings for each other.
The moral of the story is goodish because every wrong gets punished: Cal & Benji have to clear the fountain rubbles because they lied to the citizens and Gunther gets a kind of just punishment for his misdeeds. The only wrong that remains in their revolutionary paradise of a democratic monarchy is: the nun singing with her charged while dancing in the mountains. But I guess nothing can be perfect. And... I want to know who is Simon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice!!
This is the first book I have read on this series and I enjoyed a lot the funny adventures of Calarian, Benji and Lars. Full of heartwarming moments, sweet situations, wonderful characters and even some intrigue, this book was so good that now I need to read book 1, to see if It is as good. Nice reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very funny, read it at your peril !
Not sure the von trapp reference totally worked, but yay, go Nuns. A shocking start to the book doesn’t suggest humour, but stick with it, it won’t be long before your smiling, although this works well as a standalone, I’d recommend reading Book 1 first - Red Heir, the back story enhances the book. Another bonkers, filthy and very funny story. It’s still comical even when Benji is facing certain death

5.0 out of 5 stars Yay socialist agenda
Hilarious. Just so funny and sweet at once. I want more and I'll be recommending this if anyone asks if I've read anything good lately.

4.0 out of 5 stars Silly and fun fantasy adventure in the mountains
3.5/5 Cal, Benji, and Lars make an excellent triad. I was actually a bit surprised when the book started with Cal and Benji because I had not got a couple vibe from them in book one. This book clearly established that they weren’t there before, and while they were maybe working their way in that direction, it took the addition of Lars to really get them to figure things out.
I loved how they each got to stay true to their principles but they grew as people and learned to be more flexible about what those principles actually were. It was fun how many things were just that little bit twisted from expectations and the norm: the trolls, the monster, the dungeons and guards, the way to effect great political change (lol). Plus, I’m a great lover of gingerbread, so I am in full agreement about Benji’s obsession, lol. You definitely need to be in the right mood for the silly humour, but there’s something so light-hearted and joyful about it.
I would have liked to see more of the old crew, but it also makes sense for Cal and Benji to have their own adventure, and there are plenty of quirky characters in Tournel. It’s certainly never boring with Cal, Benji, and Lars around.
Looking forward to Dave’s book!
