Captain Gerber takes the war to the enemy

Vietnam, 1968

When a reporter suggests that the American military doesn’t know how to win the war in Vietnam, U.S. Army Special Forces
Captain Mack Gerber sets out to prove him wrong.

Occupying an abandoned camp in Binh Long Province, Gerber and
Master Sergeant Anthony B. Fetterman hook up with some former colleagues from the old Triple Nickel to drive the enemy from the region. Then the elite commandos undertake a covert cross-border operation in relentless pursuit of the fleeing VC.

Gerber proves what he's known all along – the way to win a war is to move in, take ground, and hit the enemy. Hit them hard.

Meanwhile, Gerber’s newly promoted nemesis General Billy Joe Crinshaw is back in Vietnam and looking to get even with the Green Beret captain.

They chased the NVA & VC into Cambodia and destroyed their camps only to be pulled back by Rear Area Headquarters Generals. Win today but loss of overall fight.

Mr. Helm writes a well researched story about the war in Viet Nam. It was nice to see the special forces during there job even though General Crenshaw was dismantling all that they did. Said it before the soldiers won the battles and the establishment lost the war. Can't wait to read other stories by Mr. Helm.it's

This holds your attention from the beginning of the story to the end. I think you will find it interesting too. It makes you feel like you're in the group yourself.

Capt. Gerber and MSGT Fetterman conduct a night time into Cambodia destroying a NV camp and bringing the war to them.
Taking the offensive to them rather than reacting to their actions helps secure a local province.

I've read all of Eric's books and it pains me to say this is by far one of the worst. The authors fixation on a rogue, totally unaccountable Army General is extremely hard to understand. No one, not even the Commander In Chief, could take the actions he did, and then not be accountable for anything to anybody. Extremely unbelievable. Furthermore, to walk in to another General's office and completely take order, the order the other General to "get lost" for a couple of weeks, is so far out of reach that it's not worth even saying it, but there's no way it could possibly happen, even in the Chinese Army. Poor story Eric.....it looks like you were struggling to write a book, so you cut and pasted other writings, but did check to see if it was believable. Very poor work.

As a Vietnam vet I can say Eric nails the essence of that war. I was a Navy guy but ALL services can endorse his view. Well done sir!!!!
