    I have read the entire MacLomain series, including a couple Viking sets, all 23 books. It is my theory that the author has this gigantic white board with hundreds of sticky notes to remind her who was where when. I have no idea how she keeps all the characters where they need to be at any given time. However, this is part of the fantastic story lines that keep you coming back. IMO she ranks right beside Diane Gabaldon in time travel, both my favorites. On to Leviathan and Dagr.
