We met Allie and Carson in the first duet about Beck and Josie. Allie is Josie's best friend, and Carson is Beck's best friend. These two were always bickering and you could just feel the tension! . Allie is a good girl. She also doesn't have money so she works hard and gets good grades trying to hold onto the scholarship she has gotten for college next year. . Carson loves to have fun. He is on the baseball team and a well known player on and off the field. . Allie and Carson were childhood best friends until one night when everything fell apart. From then on, Carson has been nothing but cruel to Allie. Unfortunately Allie has to see Carson more than she would like since her best friend is dating Carson's best friend. When Carson overhears something, he feels he has to get involved. Only he starts to realize things aren't what he thought. These two were full of angst, deeply buried feelings and banter for days. Carson is broken from things in his past and when feelings can no longer stay burried, you better watch out. Carson is not affraid to go after what he wants. He is protective, possessive, a dirty talker and the cocky guy you hate to love. I loved how Allie handled everything Carson through at her. I can't wait to get my hands on the conclusion of their story in The Deceit of a Devil. I need it now! I loved the little bits we got of Beck and Josie. I am super eager for Frankie and Olly.😏 I hope they are the next duet!😍

    There's a lot I could say about this series, but I want to focus on this story. It's refreshing to read a story where the two leads know exactly why they ate enemies. It isn't a mystery. She wasn't there for him when he needed her. They let everything fester over time and grew apart. The only thing that remained is their unrequited love for each other.

    Then there's something that can and most likely will tear them apart in the end. Holly has written an installment that is engrossing and makes you wish that this story could go on, but she does. It ends in a cliffhanger, and we habe to wait for the the next book in this enemies to lover to enemies romance. I don't know how Carson will win her back, or if Allie, even wants him back. I cannot wait to see what Holly comes up to resolve their story. This is a quick read, and a I could not stop reading read. It is has some spice but it is a slow burn to the the spicy parts.

    I will say that I could see and hear the characters as if I am watching a movie.

    Meet the second boy in the Clermonts Bay series, Carson Hale, one of Beck Clermont’s best friends. If you’ve read Josie’s and Beck’s duet, you would have met Allie too, Josie’s closest friend, and noticed a love-hate vibe between her and Carson. And that’s because they do have history. It’s a best friends to enemies to lovers story and there’s just so much tension.

    Allie is different because she’s not part of the upper elite. But she’s an awesome person which earned her close friendship with Josie and Frankie. I love that she’s a gentle soul, a bit innocent but she’s also quite mature, already handling so many responsibilities for someone her age. However, this girl has a weak spot for Carson Hale.

    I was not a fan of Carson at the start. He was just cruel to Allie. But as the story progresses, you realize that he’s the way he is because of his painful past.

    I like that the plot still surprised me. I enjoyed reading the unique situation that resulted to forced proximity which rekindled their relationship. I lived for the small intimate scenes throughout the book brought about by their shared history.

    That ending though, I was already expecting it, but it still broke my heart. Can’t wait to read the next book to know how our main characters coped.

    Allie is AMAZING!! She proved to be an amazing friend to Josie in the first books, and I loved that we got to dive even deeper into who Allie is with this book. She’s got more bite to her than I originally thought, but she also has a heart of gold. As for Carson, he’s the guy you love to hate and sometimes hate to love. He can be crass and rude, but under that bad boy exterior, there is so much more than meets the eye.

    I need the next book ASAP. I’m dying to know what happens next. This book is a rollercoaster that I never wanted to end! Utter perfection!

She can’t stop her feelings even when he’s cruel. He just needs someone who is willing to push past his walls. She just might be the one to do it.

    Carson can be cruel but he is a dirty talking savant, which makes up for his short comings. You will enjoy him even though at times you may want to smack him. A great escape. All I can say is…GIVE ME BOOK TWO!!!

    I knew that these two would have chemistry from getting to know them in Josie and Beck’s story, but I didn’t think it would be SO palpable! Carson and Allie orbit around each other in such a way that no one else can even compete. They have such a delicious friends-to-enemies-to-lovers tension and I loved watching them try to fight it.

    That ending though was a doozy and I can’t wait to see how the pieces will be picked up! I know Holly is going to kill it though!

At one point i was laughing and loving the feelings that Carson and Allie had for each other, on the other hand, I was so frustrated with Carson. Carson is beautiful, handsome, a jerk most of the times, caring, frustrating and challenging. Allie on the other hand, is soft, strong, beautiful, a person with utmost amounts of patience, and an amazing human.

    This is not an easy book to let go of. The writing in this book is so amazing. Even though, the entire story is told from dual perspective, the manner in which it is written, makes the reader feels as if they are witnessing the entire story first hand.

    I loved the variety of characters in this series. With each subsequent book, the series just gets better. My only complaint for this book was that it ended way to early. I wasn't ready to let go of the book so soon.

    All in all, taste of an enemy is an amazing story where Holly Renee has done a complete justification to the enemies to lovers trope. Will surely recommend it.
