Has Julie met the man of her dreams?
1956, Paris
After breaking off her engagement, young English rose Julie Ryan is determined to make the most of her new independence — starting with a visit to her Grandmère Lubin’s majestic home in Paris.
But it seems that Madame Lubin has her own plans for her granddaughter. Dressed in the latest French fashions, Julie is soon being introduced to the most well-connected people in the city — including the handsome Charles Patrice.
When Charles offers to show her the sights of Paris, Julie finds herself warming to his charm and kindness.
As heir to his family’s prestigious car company, Charles is expected to make an advantageous match, and his future bride has already been chosen for him.
But as their bond blossoms, it seems that Julie is in danger of falling for a man who is forbidden to return her affection…
English Miss is an enchanting, classic romance story, set in Paris in the 1950s!

- Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2020As another reviewer mentioned this is a charming story. It's like a piece of pastry - all empty calories but so fun to eat! This is a sweet little romance, very clean, with a story line that moves quickly. The characters are interesting enough though not developed in any depth. The plot is a bit fairy tale like and not seriously grounded in reality. But all of this is fine if you go into reading this book realizing that it is a pleasant, light read. However, I was disappointed with one aspect. The ending is very abrupt. The author has developed enough of a conflict to keep a reader interested and at least wondering how our two lovers are going to work this out when Boom! it's done. Yes, we read a brief brief scene where we can see the Happily Ever After coming but we are really left out of it. There are no details wrapped up, no satisfying conclusion where all involved get their just deserts, no glimpse of a wedding. It's as if the last chapter just got left off. If you like all the little details wrapped up at the end this book will disappoint. If it doesn't matter to you then enjoy a little light reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2022This book didn't do anything for me. Julie, the female protagonist, is irritating and way too immature to consider marrying anyone. The other characters just struck me as flat. I also thought the plot was thin and not very plausible. My biggest disappointment, however, was that I got no feeling of Paris. Cox talks about sightseeing, but doesn't describe either the sights or Julie's really tion to them. He talks about fashion and its importance to Parisians, and spends pages describing Julie's trips to the dressmaker, but he doesn't describe the clothes in any detail. Sigh!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2021After a broken engagement she chose to do Julie Ryan finally feels a sense of freedom and like a modern woman.
It is 1956 and she is determined to show others she is modern, capable and independent.
Visiting Grandmère Lubin’s majestic home in Paris is just how she'll do it.
Madame Lubin has her own agenda for her granddaughter though. Dressing her in the latest Parisian fashions she introduces her around . From there she meets the handsome and exciting the handsome Charles Patrice.
He shows her around Paris and their connection grows but he's not free to love her. Can it somehow work out?
Charming read!
