    I came away thinking there is a lot of evil in the world. I enjoyed book 5. Books 6 and 7 reminded me of Jurassic Park movies. The heroes kept going from one bad scene to another to another. This continued in book 7 to the point where I had to go into skimming mode. A decent read.

    The only complaint about James Harpers books is that each one has almost graphic violence. The story lines are good but each story depicts such violence that I have decided to stop reading them. It is too bad because the mystery theme of each story is very good but the violence is nauseating. Can't recommend these books unless violence has no effect on you.

    I have now read all of the Evan Buckley books to date, although I started with #5. It didn't ruin a thing, but made me want to go back and read them all from the start... which I did. Now, as soon as one comes out I devour it. An excerpt rom each of my reviews are as follows:
    Resurrection Blues - Wow! Great book. A story with plenty of twists, and characters that are interesting. I had not yet read any of the other Evan Buckley novels (although I plan to now!), and this was fine as a stand alone book. ... While the ending resolved the issues that were central to the story, there was enough interest in the characters to make you want to know what happens next in their lives. No cliffhangers, just good writing to create enough intrigue to want to come back for more.
    Hunting Dixie - I enjoyed the story very much. Really liked the way the author portrayed the characters. They were fleshed out enough to seem real, without getting bogged down in minutiae. When I had to put the book down, I found myself wanting to get back to it as soon as I could. That’s the mark of a good book - drawing the reader in so that they don’t want to stop reading. I recommend it and am looking forward to reading the next book. This author is now on my list of those to watch - and read!
    Road to Deliverance - I highly recommend this entire series of books... In this one, a lot of questions are answered, but more develop! It's not a cliffhanger - just an ongoing storyline that pulls you in. It was the kind of book I wanted to get back to every chance I had. I was very glad to learn that it is not the end of the series. What makes this work is the characters. As a reader I truly felt like I know these people, and I'm interested in how their lives are going. The dialogue is great. It's never stilted, and often breaks the tension with something funny at an unexpected time. Can't wait for the next installment(s), whenever that might be.

    Evan Buckley takes another case.. Although he swore he would never take another domestic case, a photo changes his mind. But... this is no normal domestic case, as if Evan Buckley ever does normal. Resurrection Blues is non-stop action from the beginning to the end. There are so many twists and turns in the book that you don't know where the book is going to end. Unlike some authors who "ride" on their prior books in a series, Mr. Harper's writing gets better with each book. Anyone who enjoys a good mystery with lots of action needs to read this book.

    In Hunting Dixie, we find Evan Buckley, PI at the beck and call of a lying, scheming woman named Carly. She supposedly has information about the location of Evan’s wife, Sarah. All he has to do is find a man named Dixie. As with most of Evan’s assignments, trouble seems to be easier to find than Dixie. I really enjoyed reading Hunting Dixie. I found myself immersed in the story from the very first page. The characters seemed so real that I despised Carly and felt sorry for Evan. Hunting Dixie is fast moving novel with a complex storyline that contains several subplots within the main story.

    The Road to Deliverance is probably the best book that James Harper has written. It ties up a few loose ends in Evan’s life- mainly what happened to his wife, Sarah. The book grabs you from the second page and takes you on a wild ride throughout the book. It’s one of those books that make readers say hmm… I started the book as soon as it hit my Kindle and finished it the next morning; I just couldn’t find a place to stop. In my opinion, Mr. Harper’s books are some of the best thrillers available on Amazon.
