Fake Fiancée Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 7,166 ratings

From WSJ Bestselling Author Ilsa Madden-Mills comes a new stand-alone contemporary romance

Fake engaged to the hottest quarterback in the country? SCORE.

They say nothing compares to your first kiss,
But our first kiss was orchestrated for an audience.
Our second kiss . . . that one was
REAL.
He cradled my face like he was terrified he’d f*ck it up.
He stared into my eyes until the air buzzed.
Soft and slow, full of sighs and little laughs,
He inhaled me like I was the finest Belgian chocolate,
And he’d never get another piece.
A nip of his teeth, his hand at my waist . . .
And I was lost.
I forgot he was paying me to be his fake fiancée.
I forgot we weren’t
REAL.
Our kiss was pure magic, and before you laugh and say those kinds of kisses don’t exist,
Then you’ve never touched lips with Max Kent, the hottest quarterback in college history.

Three months. Two hearts. One fake engagement.

Page after page I was simply awestruck with Ilsa's writing. It's just the right amount of steam, romance, and intrique. A perfect light fluffy read that gave me goosebumps. Max's protectivness over Sunny, made me smile with glee. They were just perfect for one another, it just took time for them to see that. I can't recommend this book enough, I loved it so much! Ilsa never disapoints, this is her best yet.

As we all know there are thousands of romance novels based upon the theme of a fake engagement that leads to true love and the fairytale happily ever after. Readers are suckers for these kind of romances. With so many books on the market with this theme many could say it's unoriginal and predictable. That may be true but what makes each of these new books stand out and hook the reader completely is the delivery of the story, the characters, and the circumstances of their fake engagement. The author has to dig deeper and become even more creative to make their book a success among the reading population. The author has to make their characters larger than life as well as making them ordinary people with extraordinary circumstances so readers can easily relate to them. Then the author has to add the meat of the story and make it very convincing. The author also has to add the charm and magical qualities of true romance. Ilsa Madden-Mills has found her magic formula and delivered an utterly charming and convincing romance that will leave the readers lining up for invitations to Max and Sunny's wedding. Fake Fiancee by Ilsa Madden Mills is a modern day fairytale romance.

Max Kent is the star quarterback at Leland. It's his senior year and he's in the running for the Heisman Trophy. Winning the Heisman Trophy is something his father, a former football star turned professional sports anchor, did not achieve in his illustrious football career. Max has lived in his father's shadow and also suffered from his father's fame all his life. His talent on the field is undeniable but his volatile reputation could stand in the way of winning the trophy. His toxic relationship with his former girlfriend and his fights with the second string quarterback were all over social media last year. His senior year will be the defining factor in winning the trophy. He has to lay low, play well, and keep out of the social media gossip. When he meets his neighbor Sunny Blaine, she presents the perfect solution to his senior year. She's the ticket to winning the Heisman Trophy. He is going to convince her to become his fake girlfriend until the football season is over. It will benefit them both. It's also easy being around Sunny. She's a real girl who doesn't let others dictate her life. She's smart, sassy, and fun to be around. She's truly someone he could fall in love with.

Sunny Blaine is dreading her senior year. After a harsh breakup that ended without real closure, she's dreading going to class. Her ex boyfriend is in quite a few of her classes. Their relationship never had real closure and left her wallowing in hurt from his deceptions. When Max offers her a solution to keeping her pride intact, she reluctantly agrees with his plan.

Max and Sunny had an instant connection the moment they met. They developed a strong friendship that led to love. With the end of the season approaching they will have to decide if they want to end their deceptions or grab onto something that is greater than winning any kind of award. Fate put them in each other's paths. Fate had plans for them all along. Who are they to defy fate.

I absolutely loved this book. Fake Fiancee was heart-warming, charming, and entertaining. Ilsa Madden Mills has created a fairytale romance!

    Fake Fiancée by Ilsa Madden-Mills
    4 stars!!!!

    “Coincidence or destiny?”

Ilsa Madden-Mills delivers a real feel good read with Fake Fiancée, while incorporating a to die for footballer and a girl that you cannot help but fall in love with. This is the story of Sunny and Max.

Sunny had had a hard life, her mum’s passing had turned her dad into a tyrant and at the age of seventeen she found herself trying to escape, a road trip that nearly killed her. Having spent the last three years living with her grandma she had finally found a sense of normalcy but her life was once again turned on its head when her boyfriend betrayed her. Now, after summer break, she is dreading seeing him, their classes were picked together with each other in mind so there would be no respite. Sunny needed to pull up her panties and walk in with her head high…or the star quarterback on her arm.

“As long as she was with me, they’d be no more scars.”

Max was the star quarterback and lived opposite Sunny with his friend and team mate. A run in with a football groupie and a car puts Max and Sunny in each other’s paths and the rest is history, one fake relationship at a time.

Max comes from a wealthy family, is the most popular football player and every woman wants to be with him. Max lives, breathes and eats football. Football is his life and his reason for waking up every morning. Having just come out of a long-term relationship and having his heart broken, the last thing Max wants is another woman, but with the fame of football comes the unwanted attention and he was at his wits end.

Sunny has paid to put herself through college and works all the hours that god sends. Max wants a reprieve from female attention, so together they come up with the idea of pretending to date. Sunny earns some much needed cash and can walk into classes with a boyfriend on her arm, and Sunny being there takes Max off the market. Win, Win situation. Until feelings become involved.

“Max is going to make you happy, Sunny. He’s the calm in your chaos.”

I loved the slow burn of this one, that friends to lover’s trope that is often written but seldom nailed and I believed in this one from the start. I loved the little twist on their relationship and the fact that fate obviously played its part, after all the heart wants who the heart wants.

Max was a refreshing character in so far as he didn’t play the field, he may have had the opportunity but it was never acted upon. He was extremely focused, had his ideas and aspirations and was adamant to succeed even if it meant making personal sacrifices. Sunny though was as infectious as her name, she had that aura about her that made you love her. Sunny kept herself to herself but even she couldn’t deny the tangible connection that she had with Max, has lightning struck twice or will football take precedence over everything?

“I loved her. I loved her. But I was terrified to say it.”

I loved how these two opened up to one and other, shared their vulnerabilities and became each other’s safe place first and foremost, they made a formidable team, bantered off one and other and had that chemistry that comes once a lifetime. Ilsa Madden-Mills delivered this friends to lover’s romance with emotion and passion and little angst. Loved it!

“Sometimes there really is a bigger plan.
Sometimes there really is that one person.
Sometimes true love finds you no matter what.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyable, funny and sweet love story...
Reviewed in Australia on February 10, 2017
I almost didn't buy/read this book because I wasn't in the mood for another "fake relationship turn into so much more" - plus this is a new author for me, so I wasn't sure about the quality of the writing. Boy I'm glad I decided to last minute one click it. From the opening page to the final page this is a book I couldn't put down.
Which is unusual for me because sports romances are also not my thing. Yet Max is deliciously sexy, Sunny is bright and fantastic, the banter is fantastic, and the story is one that unfolds at the perfect pace. From the beginning the prologue was fantastic... I wanted to know more about this girl. Sunny is 17 and escaping home, complete with stealing her father's car. But nothing could prepare her for what happens that fateful night and her unexpected rescuer. Fast forward three years... Sunny has worked tirelessly to put herself through college. She's moved across the street from the hotshot college quarterback Max. Max doesn't want any distractions this season (especially with girls) since his last relationship ended badly. Sunny has also just gotten out of a bad relationship, so when Sunny and Max collide they form an alliance to 'fake date' to stick it to their exes, and also so Max can concentrate on the season. Great plan in theory BUT ... reality bites ... their first fake kiss is 'oh-so-not-fake' at all.
And so the fun begins... the story is filled with friendship, heat, passion and most importantly heart. It felt natural not forced, and despite the trope, it wasn't very predictable. I always love a book told in the dual point of view - you just get to understand the characters so much more and really understand what they're thinking...
Ultimately, this was a really enjoyable, sweet, love story with a twist. 5 stars from me...

5.0 out of 5 stars What I Thought
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 14, 2017
I loved this book. LOVED it!!!
Sunny Blaine is fiercely independent after running away from home, away from a strict preacher father who used to beat her. She has overcome a lot. Sunny doesn’t trust athletes in the slightest, despite always being attracted to them. Especially not since splitting with her douche ex. She is not looking forward to starting this next semester back at college as she expected to be living with and sharing classes with her ex, Bart.  So when yet another bimbo leaves from Leland universities, quarterbacks house and smashes into her car, just driving off straight after, Sunny is all up for heading over to his place, demanding a lift to class along with the bimbos details.
Opening his door to find his new neighbour standing there, Max Kent is instantly struck with a feeling like he knows this woman, he just doesn’t know where from. After finding his ex, Bianca, sleeping with his enemy, Felix, Max just wants to keep his head down and out of trouble and focus on his career and winning the Heisman. Women mean trouble for him, but the little hottie from next door demanding he drives her to class, throws this out of the window for him though, she is a very welcome distraction for him indeed,  and he readily agrees to take her, turns out they are heading to the same class.
Once they arrive at Leland University, they both appear apprehensive to want to get out of the car. They each discover the other has an ex is the class, both having had a bad break up, their ex’s both at fault, Max suggests they walk into class together, pretending to be boyfriend and girlfriend to get back at their ex’s and show a united front. Sunny agrees. To make it seem realistic, Max convinces her there should be hand holding and people should see them sharing a kiss to make their ploy seem realistic, and boy what a kiss it is!  Their fake relationship does not go down with either ex well at all. Success!
As a means to help him stay distraction free and to ensure all females will leave him alone, Max has a proposition for Sunny after class. He knows she needs cash, so in exchange for 1000 bucks, she has to pretend to be his fiancée. Taken aback, Sunny is tempted but doesn’t want to take the lie too far with her grandma, Mimi. So she agrees to be his fake girlfriend for 5000 bucks instead. One exception, no falling in love. Max readily agrees.
There is a clear attraction between Max and Sunny though, can they really keep love out of the equation? And can they be convincing enough in their fake relationship that no one realises they aren’t really together?
Well…..to begin with, the title of the book gives off a fun vibe, and along with that sexy cover, both are very enticing.
I adore books within the college/university setting, I enjoy the young and modern vibe that comes with them. The book is written in alternating points of view, it is easy to follow and transitions from character to character smoothly. I seemed to hit the end pretty quick, a consequence of this book being an easy read but also a fun read, entrancing you and making you not want to put the book down until you hit those two word that I often hate to see, The End.
The storyline is imaginative and fun, it had me smiling throughout, from both the humour in the story and the attraction and interaction between Max and Sunny. I’m not sure about you guys, but when I am reading and come across a part that makes me goofy smile or laugh out loud, I tend to re-read that part a time or ten, I definitely had this reaction multiple times throughout Fake Fiancée.
The story is well written, bringing about all of the feels from anticipation, to nerves, to hope, to joy, and then back around again. The intensity in the intimacy is panty melting, even down to how Ilsa Madden-Mills has written a kiss between the two characters, be it fake or real. I loved Sunny’s grandma, Mimi. She had me giggling once or twice, she’s popular with the guys in the assisted housing where she lives, she’s  a bit of a goer
“He’s hotter than a red jalapeno Sunny!” She fanned herself. “He moves like lightening, and not all quarterbacks can run, let me tell you. Some just stand there like grumps and throw the ball – but not him. Nope, he’s got some speed on him. He’s the whole package. I’d like to know the size of his rudder…”
Fake Fiancée is an all around joy to read. Thank you for a super fun, creative book Ilsa!

I really like “fake relationships” stories and this one was incredible. I really liked it.
From the beginning, it was different and original. The connection was special and from then on, their love story became even more beautiful.

Max is the hero. He’s a jock, he’s talented and popular but he’s not the cliche of this role. He’s not a player, nor a jerk. He’s a good friend, loyal, he makes mistakes but away from the cliche.

Sunny is everything her name means. She’s smart and kind. A fighter, with an enormous heart and a genuine person. I really loved them together. Reading their story is heartwarming and puts a smile on the face.
