The First Lady of Three Rivers Ranch: Christian western romance (Three Rivers Ranch Romance™ Book 17) Kindle Edition
A dance with destiny at Three Rivers Ranch between the sexy cowboy owner and the woman he hires to clean the cabins…who ends up stealing his heart.
Heidi Duffin's life is finally coming together: she has just one year left of her Bachelor's degree in Baking and Pastry Arts, four job applications out, and a summer full of possibilities. But when her sister convinces her to attend the first summer dance in small town Three Rivers, everything changes when she meets Frank Ackerman.
Frank has been dragged to the dance by his cowboys, and he doesn’t feel it’s a mistake when he meets Heidi. He introduces her to a world of cowboys and country living as he follows up with a job offer after the dance.
Heidi begins to clean the cowboy cabins at Three Rivers Ranch, and the chemistry between her and Frank is off the charts hot as he captivates her every thought.
As the summer goes by and they work together and get to know each other, Heidi's culinary skills bring the cowboys of Three Rivers Ranch closer together, creating the family environment that Frank has longed for since the death of his mother.
But their love for each other and their faith is tested when the siren's call of Heidi's dream bakery becomes louder. Will she return to school to fulfill her dreams or follow her heart and stay in Three Rivers with Frank? Can their faith in God and each other guide them to the sweetest of happy endings?

- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2017She’s a 24-year-old student on her way to achieving a dream she’s had since she was 13 – owning a bakery. Heidi’s got two semesters left until she graduates as a full-fledged pastry chef. Focused on her dream, nothing can stand in her way – not even love.
He’s a 30-year-old rancher looking for THE woman to make his house a home, something it hasn’t been since the death of his mother. Frank Ackerman has dated every woman available in his community and none of them make his heart skip. When one of his ranch hands invites him to the monthly town dance, he decides to go. As he stands on the sidelines avoiding all the women giving him hopeful glances, he notices a new face in the crowd. Standing next to his ranch hand, Chance, are two young women. While one is quite obviously Chance’s girl, the other appears to be older and unattached. His interest piqued, Frank pursues an introduction then spends the evening getting to know Heidi. As his heart skips in her presence, he begins to see hope on his horizon.
Home for the summer, Heidi needs a job that pays actual money. Working for her dad for free isn’t going to pay her school bills. When Frank offers her a job cleaning cabins on his ranch, she is leery of taking it. After all, she just met the man. As another week slips by with no job on the radar, Heidi goes to another dance hoping to see Frank again. When he finally shows up and they hit it off like the last time, she asks if the job is still available. He jumps at the chance to have her close by, then, she tells him her conditions for coming. She will not be staying under any circumstances. She wants to finish school so she can buy her bakery.
As Frank and Heidi spend the summer together working on his ranch, can they keep their hearts in check – even if those hearts are completely drawn to the other? Will Frank be able to step back to allow Heidi to go after her dream, even if that dream takes her away from him?
Liz Isaacson – where have you been all my reading life? I loved this book!! I know it’s the 7th book in the Three Rivers Ranch series but, as the prequel, I’m kind of glad I read it first. I loved how Frank kept persevering even when Heidi wasn’t giving him a whole lot of hope. His honor, faithfulness and strong faith in God made him an outstanding male lead for this book. I also loved how both main characters were willing to listen for God’s voice leading them in their relationship. Christian romance readers will love this book. I couldn’t put it down!

*I received this audiobook in exchange for my honest review*
I loved Frank and Heidi’s story! It takes place in the 1980’s and the occasional mention of Heidi’s clothes and the fact that everyone had to communicate with wall-phones and letters was a blast from the past!
This is probably my favorite of the books. I’m not sure why, but it was kind of magical. Heidi brought the whole ranch together with her cooking and that made them a family.
Her relationship with her sister is also a sweet touch to the book. I like that both Frank and Heidi rely on prayer to see them through hard times, but also answers as to the path they should take.
Narration: 4.5
Ms Doughty does an excellent job, as always. I do have a hard time telling the difference between her cowboy-accented voice and her non-cowboy-accented voice. But really, she has a wonderful voice and I love listening to her narrate!

- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2017Cute little book. Perfect length for a quick read while waiting for just about anything. Such a good clean, sweet book. Perfect for anyone, any ages. Liz Issacson breathed life after into this book - like she:s done with all of her books. Developing characters that anyone can easily relate to. Simple storylines, and colorful descriptions. Everything combined with the author's talent - resulted in a really good book
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2024OK, this series shines because of writing like the following making it both entertaining and spiritual.
“Faith can feel elusive,” the pastor continued. “But we must ask the Lord to help us have the faith we need, for it is only through our faith that a light can shine in darkness.”
Heidi felt the truth of the pastor’s words all the way down in her toes. And she decided to employ every ounce of faith that she possessed in order to get an answer to her question.
I would like to see a movie on Great American Family to capture this story. Or, why not produce the entire series of 17 books in ongoing episodes. Thank you Elana and Liz. Great read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2017"The First Lady of Three Rivers Ranch" is the eighth novel in this series and is a wonderful story of home time goes backward and we read about the love story that began everything! Frank and Heidi have a story that stands strong through the ages, and I am so happy that Ms. Isaacson decided to go back and provide us with this wonderful tale.
I love Liz Isaacson, her novels are truly wonderful! It is hard to find an author who can distinguish between a Christian Romance Novel and a Contemporary Romance Novel, but Ms. Isaacson does it and she does it well! I highly recommend every novel that I have read, and I hope that every novel I plan to read in the future is of the same quality!
I would just like to say that there is over 10 books in this series, and I am not normally a fan of series that run this long (unless they really hold your attention); however, Mrs. Isaacson grabs your attention with the multiple characters throughout the many novels and manages to keep them all tied together without having to repeat herself a multitude of times throughout each story. Wonderful job, if you enjoy one, you will enjoy all of them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not my type of romance
A bit too sweet for my taste, and unrealistic. The book is set in the late 1980ies - so a woman fights and scrimps and saves to get an education as a pastry chef, then, a couple of months before she is finished, she actually contemplates to let all this go down the drain just because she falls in love? I do believe in love at first sight, but I also believe in partnerships and compromises, and that does not mean the latter being heavy on the female side.
The characters in this book were rather weak, I think, and considering the time frame this story is set in, I do not think that the events developing are realistic, in that a "working girl" was still something unusual? Nope!
It would have been a nice story - the plot, city girl meets cowboy, their goals in life are quite opposite initially - but the way it was told just made me angry.
I am aware this is a very personal opinion, and I do not want to offend. This is just not my kind of story.

5.0 out of 5 stars good clean read
I voluntarily agreed to read an advanced copy of this book.
I love this series. Clean but still full of romance and fun. Although written after the other in the series this book goes back to the original couple whose story has been hinted at in the other books but not fully elaborated on until this point. It was great to see Frank and Heidi's romance and to understand where the bakery dream comes from. If you have read the others in the series you will love this. If you haven't read any of the other stories enjoy being taken on a wonderful journey full of cowboys and ranch life.

5.0 out of 5 stars another great book in the series
Really enjoyed it, like the rest of the series. My one quibble was the ordering - this book comes first in the series, but is numbered book 8. I was confused for a little while as to which generation we were in, and what the timing was. Once I worked it out, it was good to get the back-story from the previous books filled in, but I found it initially quite confusing and distracting. Call it Book 0 please... All in all, another enjoyable book, clean and well written, with characters that feel real. Again, a stand-alone book that shares characters between books in the series, but does not have to be read as part of the series, or even in order.
