A new love, a deadly stalker. . .

About the author

Ann Simas lives in Oregon, but she is a Colorado girl at heart, having grown up in the Rocky Mountains. She has been an avid reader since childhood and penned her first fiction "book" in high school. She particularly likes to write mystery/suspense/thriller with a love story and paranormal or supernatural elements. She is a three-time RWA Golden Heart Finalist. Simas currently has 42 books in print. All are available in both paperback and in ebook format.
An award-winning watercolorist and a budding photographer, Ann also enjoys needlework and gardening in her spare time. She is her family's "genealogist" and has been blessed with the opportunity to conduct first-hand research in Italy for both her writing and her family tree. The genealogy research from decade's old documents in Italian, she says, has been a supreme but gratifying challenge.

Alex is a quiet real estate agent going through the motions in her life. Because of past relationships she's not in any hurry to find her next mistake.
Kell is an architect/builder starting his life over in a new town with his adorable little girls. Having his hands full with work, the girls and gun shy from a bad marriage he's not looking for a relationship.
Alex who has only been bothered by a stalker suddenly finds herself in over her head. Getting help from the police and a PI may not be enough to protect her from the stalkers increased torment.
Alex and Kell are both hiding their pasts. Can they trust each other and open their lives to the other? Mistrust, self preservation, and hidden truths combine in an attempt to destroy any chance these two have at romance; and any chance Alex has to escape her stalker.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was such a story of give and take, learning to trust and sheer perseverance. The author did a fantastic job of taking the reader into the minds and hearts of the characters. The secondary characters were a wonderful addition and I found myself eagerly waiting to see what would happen next. This is not one of the cookie cutter one hour generic reads, no, this is a journey with characters that will have you absorbed until the last word.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2015I wish I may, I wish I might....... Alex is a woman who has survived an emotional abusive childhood. All she wants is a family of her own to love.
Her best friend, Dani, talks her into checking out the single guys who go grocery shopping .. evidently the grocery stores are the new single clubs. Amid lots of laughter, Alex happens upon a young girl, sitting in the aisle, munching oreo cookies. After much ado, she is returned to her father and sister. And when I tell you, the father, Kell, is hot .. I'm talking hotter than an Arizona summer.
It doesn't take long for Alex and Kell to connect mentally, as well as physically, but Kell is somewhat gun shy. In the middle of this confusing, for Alex, relationship, Alex accidentally discovers that her twin sister, who according to her parents had died, is alive and well.
Alex also has a stalker. The stalker knows her every move........ where she goes, who she talks to. He leaves creepy phone messages and somehow finds a way into her house to leave her 'presents'.
This book is multi-layered with an undertone of danger and the fear of not knowing where it's coming from. The suspense starts slow with the tension ratcheting up bit by bit until the explosive finale.
This is Romantic Suspense at its best. The characters are well-written. The plot is tight. I think we're going to see a lot more from this author.
Author furnished copy in exchange for an unbiased honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2015When I picked up this one I got a double treat-discovery of a new author to me and a fabulous romance thriller that had that WOW factor to it. The teaser of suspense and intrigue beckons to you at the beginning so in you go. Novel way to open also two friends are in the grocery store because one of them gets the idea that is the way maybe to find a decent guy to date. Alexandra and Dani are quite the pair as you read but surprisingly they run into a little girl instead. Of course that little girl is attached to a dad hehe. The author now has you glued for the count to see just where she will take you in this novel. Alexandra is the main character who will meet up again with the father Kell. As their relationship builds she will provide some interesting twists and turns. As you go along facets of their past and present is revealed and in all this a dangerous stalker. She will also have a secret revealed through a box that will shake up her world that will have her hiring a PI. I am telling you this is one novel that flows so well that has alot of elements but none choke out the other. The romance is just right also woven in all the suspense. The characters add just the right richness that you sometimes forget where you are you are so immersed. Knuckle whitening scenes not forgotten because they are truly needed in a excellent suspense thriller,by the time you reach the crescendo you will be thrilled with the wrap up but sadden that it is over (for now I hope). received a copy for a honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2015First, I would like to thank Ari Stone and Ann Simas for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
First Star by Ann Simas is the first book in her new series. It was a very quick fast paced read filled with mystery, suspense, a stalker, a romance blooming between Alex and Kell, steamy sex scenes, hidden pasts, and secrets.
The prologue freaked me out a little. Someone was rejected from Alex’s past over and over again. Obviously, that upset him very much to the point where he wanted revenge. I worried about Alex and her loved ones with each passing letter she received. Each letter was creepier than the next. Who would do this to her? Why would someone want to hurt Alex? Needless to say whomever it was sick and twisted.
I loved how Alex and Kell met and the budding relationship it formed. Kell’s daughters were adorable and pulled on my heart strings. You could tell they adored Alex and her dog.

Wow, wow! When I first started reading I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy the book. But boy was I wrong. I loved the twist the author did with the stalker. I was for sure it was one guy, every time he appeared in the story my creep radar was going off. But who I thought was the stalker turned out not to be. I loved the Kell’s girls, they are so sweet and make your heart melt. This is another story that you will need tissues for. The characters deal with broken families and they survive. Loved this book and can’t wait to read the others in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read
First Star by Ann Simas is one of those books that pulled me in from the start loved Alexandra (Alex) and her friend Dani supermarket shopping for a hot guy it gave us a glimpse of the humour these two friends have and made me chuckle , while things didn`t turn out exactly as Dani intended they did reunite little Emily with her daddy Kell and sister Megan and leads to another meeting later to return Emily`s doll and so begins a rollercoaster of a story . We have love , intrigue because Alex has a nasty stalker that gets worse as the story goes on and we also have the mystery of what happened to alex`s twin sister Josie when they were young children and where is she now ? On one hand i wanted all my questions answering and on the other i didn`t want the book to end .
I also enjoyed the friends of Alex and Kells that you meet and hear about in this story and how everyone pulls together to help each other , of course everyone has mis-steps on the way but who doesn`t , Alex and Kell both have things in the past that they have to over come so they can be the people they were intended to be and i enjoyed seeing them grow as people
Will Alex , Kell and his two little girls get their hea ? Will Alex find sister Josie ? And will they find Alex`s stalker before he escalates to much , to find out you will have to read First Star for yourself and i don`t think you will be disappointed when you do i know i certainly wasn`t,

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but......
This popped up on my newsfeed on Facebook and im not one to pass up a goid stalker story so I bought. On the whole I loved it! The characters were very likable and I was rooting for the leads. My only criticism is that I get so sick of writers who have thier leading women leave thier mobile in the car......or not lock the car up before it gets stolen. It really bugs me! Cos u just know that is when a child has a fit n they need an ambulance! It kind of makes me loose respect for them. I mean the whole point of a mobile us for emergencies! Its like having a gun and not taking it with you cos u feel like u won't need it as ur stalker isn't going to get you outside ur house!!! Wtf?!! That being said I did like the story and I'm glad I worked out who it was! I would defo give a solid 8/10 everything else was just niggles
