About the author

Adele Archer was born in Bethnal Green, East London in the 1970s, the second youngest of six children. Growing up in a council flat in not the most salubrious part of town, she was always a dreamer - and her imagination was the best escape of all. Adele was writing books from the age of eleven - but inventing stories in her head long before that.
Adele spent the majority of her working life as a trained nurse but it was in 2011, after the death of her beloved sister, that she decided it was time that writing novels could no longer just be a secret hobby. Because, in her bitter experience, life was too short for 'if onlys'.
Her first novel, 'International Relations' was released in 2015. Adele writes contemporary women's fiction with an amusing (albeit slightly bitter) take on life and romance. She writes for strong, witty women who want to read about strong, witty women. Oh and men too. And children. And on occasion, goats (strong, witty goats). She also writes an amusing weekly blog, 'Adele Archer Writes'.
Adele now resides in the West Country with her wonderful husband and two amazing daughters. In her spare time, she writes songs and sings, reads voraciously and crams in as many period/costume drama shows as her long-suffering family will allow. She would wear a bustle and a bonnet on a daily basis if she could...

- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2017You know, for someone who generally isn't a huge fan of the romance genre, author Adele Archer may just have converted me. In "Foreign Affairs," the third and final in her "International Relations" trilogy, the author has pulled out all the stops in bringing a complex set of circumstances to a conclusion that will either dismay or hearten you — and very well may surprise you. Her plot holds plenty of unpredictable twists, but for me, even more than plot, the best books show depth in character and in that regard Adele Archer excels in this full-length novel.
The main character, Dee, has always had a complicated history with men and her conflicting emotions between two of them in this book continues. Put another way, Dee lives in perpetual ambivalence. She tries mightily to rule with both her heart and her head, but in reality she's forever attempting something that probably few of us can do. Her efforts are made all the more difficult because of other characters who generally try to push her in various directions. I likely would have, too.
Ultimately, it's Dee's emotional tug of war that kept me reading long into the night at times, and I haven't even discussed (nor will I, because I don't like spoilers) the life or death dramas that you won't see coming. Of those, I will only say the circumstances will keep you riveted. My guess is that you'll also relate to much of it. At some junctures, you might even have to grab for your nearest box of tissues.
I think the novel could have been shortened some without hurting anything, but that didn't put me off because I HAD to see which way Dee's heart would move in the end. You'll keep reading for the same reason.

5.0 out of 5 stars A gripping read right to the end.
After waiting for what seemed an eternity for this third and final addition to the International Relations trilogy, I was not disappointed. Just when you think the rollercoaster that is Dee's life is pulling back into the station BOOM....it's off whizzing up and down again, with additional twists and turns along the way. Adele writes in such a way that it's impossible not to get drawn into this story, relate to the characters and feel what they're feeling. I promised myself I would take my time reading this book, make it last as it's the last one but I couldn't do it. Another page turning, can't put this book down success but be warned, if you're an emotional person like me, get the tissues ready......I may have shed a few tears along the way!

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved the book
I loved the book. It was nice to see how different yet same families became friends, and evolved into a completely new family. The final book is dark, just like the author promised.
Maybe I won't call what Dee and Felix had as 'love' but what they had was inevitable.
I am so glad that I purchased the book the day it was released and managed to read it in two days while watching 'Full House' on a different tab. :D
Thanks for this wonderful saga, Adele.
