Forever Marked was a well-written and suspenseful book that combined not only the building of an amazing love story, but also fulfilled a level of suspense that kept the pages turning. (Yep…I read both books in two days.) The depth of the characters and the flawed nature of each brought forth an ability to deeply connect with the emotional struggles, passion, and urgency each felt and shared. And the secrets that are revealed build a storyline that will pique the reader’s curiosity about the different players involved throughout this enthralling read.

While Ellora is a strong and intellectual individual with a caring nature and willingness to give back to others, it is her fear that keeps her from asking for help and support. After fleeing a very dangerous and life-threatening situation, she finds herself returning to her roots, to her hometown of Portree Harbor on the isle of Skye in Scotland. It is here she begins to find a sense of peace. But just when she thinks perhaps she has left her past behind, when she has found someone with who she can finally find trust and love, those terrifying eyes seem to find her again.

Behr is a beast of a man, an alpha in every sense of the word, with a keen sense, and Behr seems to see through Ellora and know she is running from something. With an immediate attraction to her and an overwhelming need to protect this beautiful creature who has found herself living in Portree, Behr can help but make sure she is safe. But this means letting down the walls he has built around his heart; a scary proposition for a man who has already been burned badly. But sometimes, the head and the heart find themselves in a game of tug-o-war.

Will Behr be able to protect Ellora from the past that haunts her, from the hurt he knows she has experienced? Or will the walls each has built around their own hearts and the stress of the trauma be more than either can overcome?

Please note this is an outstanding series that holds a bit of a cliff hanger, as the danger is not solved at the end. There are many players involved in the story, and those individual stories are woven together through one in particular tie. It is through each book that the reader will get a greater glimpse into the lives of the different characters and the relationship that bud along the way.

I really liked this story! The prologue drew me in right away! The plot, characters, and suspense kept me glued to this book the whole way through. The romance between Ellora and Behr was very sweet and left me wanting more, so I'm glad there is a book two. I was a little confused because there was some head hopping going on, so some of the time I was confused who was thinking what, but that was my only complaint. My favorite part of the book is that there is the story seen through Ellora's eyes and then the story unfolding through a detective's eyes, which was cleverly crafted when the two stories converge. Can't wait to read the next one!

I loved this debut novel! I was intrigued from the start and loved that things start off fast rather than unfolding too slowly, the heroine has already made the decision to leave and we are off! No time is wasted because she doesn't have the time to spare. She arrives in Scotland and we meet the great cast of characters and each are so unique that its not hard to keep track of who's who at all. Behr is a great guy that anyone would love and fall in love with him, I did! Especially at the end where he goes ape man over Lor, OMG!! *fans self*

Ok so, story wise... we get a really great love story that is a gentle, beautiful kind of love instead of "insta-love" 0 to sixty with no build up at all. The romance is done so perfectly because this girl has been wounded and doesn't trust well, but DOES trust Behr. And rather than doing what so many authors do of automatically throwing them in bed together and "healing" one another, we get a slow burn that works so well because she DOES need time. Just because she trusts Behr right off the bat, doesn't mean they have to get it on, right away. So while some might say she fell for him too fast or something, I don't see that. I saw a girl who found her soulmate and knew she could trust him and told him things on her own time, and he with her. So to me, the pacing of it was just right. Plus, the great thing about Behr was that you knew he was all man, you knew he wanted her from day one, but he never pushed. He is the perfect combination of gentleman and hot alpha we all want!

Now Dalton... I loved that we didn't hop around too much to the baddie Dalton because normally I hate that. I like seeing the bad guys and what they're up to, but I don't need every other chapter to be them twirling their evil mustache. We got just enough information and then the PI Dominick took over and that really gripped me. Seeing him on the trail and what he discovers and how he goes about handling it was cool, I don't want to give too much away but trust me, he's one to watch.

The ending was great and the last 20% or so gets really intense and I didn't want to stop! We are definitely left wanting the next book because this is nowhere near over!

I have to applaud Lady J because writing your first book can't be easy and I'm so proud of you, congrats!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book has marked me and I want more!
Reviewed in Australia on March 23, 2019
I know everyone is different when it comes to reading. If I’m not drawn into the book by the end of the first chapter, I usually give it a miss or put it aside to start again on another day. After all, there must have been something that made me buy it in the first place. Forever Marked had me in its clutches from the very first page.
You know a book is good when you hate interruptions. Do I really need to do housework? Do the grocery shopping? Sleep? Not only did Forever Marked hold my attention from the very first page, it held my attention until the very end.
Now that I’ve bought the next book in the series, I’m looking forward to what happens next and meeting new characters. I don’t think 5 stars is enough for this book.

Wow! What can I say? Forever Marked is truly outstanding. I was gripped from the very first page. What an amazing prologue and the rest of the book continued in that high, suspense pace. The description of both setting and characters is breath taking. Can't wait to read book 2

4.0 out of 5 stars A love story with tension
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 19, 2015
This was a story of a young woman Ellora being forced to flee her home in the USA and her past, as she feared for her life following a brutal attack.

She decides to travel to the remote Isle of Skye off the Scottish coast with very little belongings and a need to hide her past from the townsfolk who quickly become her new friends. This is a place where her parents originated from and with the locals having fond memories, Ellora is soon welcomed in to their community and she gets to live and work in a quiet bar called Gradys. There she forms a friendship with one particular man, Behr, who is a formidable character and wants nothing more that to protect her and win her heart.

As they slowly fall for each other, we see Ellora start to open up about her past, albeit reluctantly and downplaying the danger she is in. There is real tension in the final part of the book (no detail as I don't want to give anything away) and I couldn't put the book down.

My reason for only giving 4 stars is because I would have liked there to be more passion and sex; and there were some typos which frustrated me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Wow!

This book was a new author for me. The Book drew me in, grabbed its words around my throat and didn't let go until the end. Loved the Scottish language that came through. It was fast paced, brilliantly written. I can't wait to get my hands on the other books in this series.

    4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5*
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 20, 2017
This is the first book I have read by this author and while I did eventually like the story, there was a few things that annoyed me. I am from Scotland, and the Scottish dialogue was like reading that from a Londoner. It was quite hards to read the story at the beginning because the dialogue put me off. However as the story progressed, I don't know if the author forgot she was writing Scottish dialogue for her characters, because it got less and less.
Once I got into the story and got used to the way the writer was writing the Scottish dialogue, I did actually enjoy it. The last 30% of the book was gripping. If the whole book was like that it would have got 5* straight away.
I do actually like Ellora and Behr. I have downloaded book 2 just to see where this story goes, because if book 2 is as strong as the last 30% of book 1, it will be a good 5* read.
O never read the blurb for this book before I downloaded it, but by looking at the cover I would have thought this book was paranormal. I never expected the story to unfold the way it did from the cover.

I will go on to see what happens next.
