Hello and welcome to my author page. Let me tell you a little about myself, as that seems to be the main purpose of this profile. Believe it or not, I began my fiction career in the third grade when I told my class that a little sister I never had died of a black widow bite. I also wrote books through my teen years, always about a girl whose mother mistreated her by making her wash dishes, sweep the floor... you get the idea. Never finished any of those stories. But the idea of writing a real book and publishing it never occurred to me. It was a particularly vivid dream that drove me to drag out a portable typewriter and go to work on my first novel. In 1990 my second completed book, Tender Touch, brought me a first place win in a writing contest and the following year became a Golden Heart Finalist. That won me an agent and a contract from Kensington who published five of my western historical romance novels. My books have placed or won in other contests as well. Forever Mine received a Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award nomination. I've always loved the Old West and I believe my novels reflect that emotion through their depth and vibrancy. I am always working on a new story. I hope you try my books and enjoy them. Follow me here on my author page and on my website at https://charleneraddon.com & get a free book.

Bartholomew and Ariah are too innocent people who meet at the train station in Portland in 1891. He is there to pick up his nephew's mail order bride and she is the bride. Ariah has come from Cincinnati to find love. Bartholomew has a seven year loveless marriage to a manipulative shrew. What transpires between the two main characters over the next 300 pages is a ride well worth catching. Their story is heartfelt and truthful for the setting. This is not 'Fifty Shades of Gray' in a earlier setting, but a more realistic glimpse at people of a time and place we don't see anymore.

The setting is not so uncommon for the times, mail order brides in the West, especially at an off the map, remote place as a light house on the Oregon coast. They each come from different directions, but they both want to find love, they didn't know at first that love had found them.

The back stories of Bartholomew and Ariah are complex and this is the core to keep you reading.

Charlene Raddon is a masterful story teller. Her characters are flawed and complex. They each want more out of life than they've been given. The late 1800s was a time where honor, integrity, and commitment were not just words, but ideals to live by.

Each chapter has tension and conflict between the two main characters, but also between everyone else in the novel. Bartholomew and Ariah want to do the right thing, but the hazards which are placed in front of them makes their individual goals seemingly unattainable. Raddon weaves in plausible, realistic obstacles to make the setting and characters real.

A great read, back to a time and place where people were not caught up in themselves, but where people wanted to live a life where they had integrity, honor, and commitment.

The physical connections the characters experience is the best sex I've read in a long time. Natural, real emotion, and meaningful, I was caught up in the learning curve the innocent characters went through to master what two people should feel when love takes them past the edge.

The best western romance I've read in years.

What a terrific story! I can easily see this book as a Hallmark movie. The characters are so real and the dilemmas they face keep the pages turning. The culmination was completely satisfying - although I was sorry to see the story end. And the lighthouse - what's not to love about lighthouses, raging seas and turbulent love affairs!

I gave it three for the story and history. As for the characters, I really wanted to shake them - all of them. Over the top and unbelievable all of them except for maybe the least important of them all who I actually liked and enjoyed. Will let you decide who I'm talking about. All these high marks must come from readers who look the other way when it comes to realistic life choices.

I enjoyed this historical romance. I will admit that I hated to be so enthusiastic about Hester's demise, but she was such a shrew! Fun read, great pacing, and enough historical details to keep a history buff entertained. Well done. If you like American historicals, this is an excellent choice.

Wow! I have found a new author because a friend recommended this book to me. I loved it. Lots of twists and turns, love, hate, sadness, humor and a little suspense, everything that makes a story interesting. Already downloaded another book by this author. Sexual situations for those who want to know! JudyE

This book is a slow burn read. It draws you into accidents and fate and brings you full circle to love.

This is the second book I have read by Charlene Radeon, I can't wait to read the rest! I cannot explain how much I enjoyed this book. The story line is amazing and just a wonderful read :0)

I read all the great reviews and thought it would be a good book but I just don't like it. I find the main characters really hard to believe. It's not a great love story, it seems forced.
