Four Steps Missed: A Titus Ray Thriller (Titus Ray Thrillers Book 8) Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 760 ratings

CIA covert operative Titus Ray is used to keeping secrets. This time, it’s different.
This time, he’s keeping secrets from his boss, his handler, and his wife.

Operation False Flag is the secret Titus is keeping from his boss . . .
While his boss, Deputy Director of Operations, Robert Ira, would ordinarily be aware of any operation being run out of the Agency, this mission concerns the DDO himself, a mission that could cost him his job.

The whistleblower behind the operation is the secret Titus is keeping from his handler . . .
Even though his handler, Douglas Carlton, has been tasked with directing Operation False Flag, he has no idea Titus knows the identity of the whistleblower who gave the Inspector General the files that set the operation in motion.

The operation itself is the secret Titus is keeping from his wife . . .
Operation False Flag is a Top Secret mission, which means Titus can’t share the details with Nikki, but deceiving her about what he’s doing is a lot harder and more costly than he thought it would be.

Book VIII in the Titus Ray Thriller Series is an emotional roller coaster ride involving Titus’s personal life, his relationships at the CIA, and his desire to live out his Christian faith in the midst of a secret mission, a mission that turns deadly.

Review

A Goodreads reviewer writes, "The characters are very well-developed and believable. I enjoyed the way the author described Titus Ray's internal struggles and character flaws, creating a very authentic main character. The story was action-packed, and one is left wondering how the author could be so knowledgeable of the CIA and the work of their covert operatives. I've read and enjoyed many Robert Ludlum books and I'd rank this series right up there with his!"

What I enjoyed about this book:

    • There were funny moments and witty banter in many places throughout this book.

    • Nikki, Titus, Eleanor, and Mitchell were characters that kept you reading because you wanted to know more about them.

    • Olivia, Eleanor, and Carlton were minor characters that added dimension to the plot.

    • I like the intrigue of a spy novel.

    • I like it when an author has the main characters use their brains and do not have them make ridiculous mistakes to drive the action of the story.

    • The author presented a well-crafted enjoyable story. It kept my interest from the beginning until the end.

    • I did not find this contemporary Christian spy novel preachy. Religion was just a natural part of the characters' lives. No lectures.

    • This was a clean read and I highly recommend this book.

Books by Luana Ehrlich never fail to exceed my expectations! I like her books so much that I delay reading each new purchase, like saving dessert as the culmination of a good meal; and I savor each chapter! It's obvious that she doesn't whip out a book overnight but spends months developing characters and plots, giving attention to every detail. Like all of her other books, "Four Steps Missed" has a terrific balance of suspense, humor, romance, and inspiration. My husband and I eagerly await her next book!

This book does not have as much spy action as some of the author’s works but I loved it. We got to know Titus’s heart toward his wife and future daughter. The book is well written, easy to follow and entertaining. The main character is a new believer and shares his faith often. This one is a winner.

What more can I say other than I love her books and can’t wait for the next one. She is one very, very accomplished writer. The characters are three dimensional and dynamic, the plotting superb, the Christian themes are understated yet powerful and the story persuasively holds you in its grip.

Luana Ehrlich is one of my favourite authors. Her books are so easy to read and you become so absorbed in it you just cannot put it down. The characters have been so well developed it seems as if you know them peraonally and could just sit down and have a chat with them. Titus, Nikki and Eleanor are so looking forward to becoming a family. Then they discover there is a glitch. While they try to figure that out another assignment comes up and off Titus goes. One never knows what is going to happen or where they will end up but you can be sure it will be a great, suspenseful ride. Thank you Luana. Write quickly. Can't wait to read the next one!

Titus is stopped short when his and Nicki’s attempt to adopt Eleanor hits a snag. A trip to Israel to find out whether the adoption can proceed is coupled with an investigation of the Deputy Director of Operations to lead to a big discovery. ENJOY!
