Frey (Stone Society Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,171 ratings

Geoffrey “Frey” Hartley- soldier, helicopter pilot, boxer, martial arts expert - is the biggest, baddest Gargoyle shapeshifter in the Stone Society. After too much death and destruction, he hung up his dog tags. Now he is the owner of Lion Hart Dojo and Gym. For almost six hundred years, Frey has spent his life protecting humans while secretly praying for a family. Some of his Clan are finding their mates, but the fates aren’t making it easy on any of them.

Abbi Quinn – teacher, wife, sister - is an abused, broken down young woman. After her parents’ death when she was seventeen, Abbi hung up her dreams along with her ballet shoes. Married to an abusive, controlling man, Abbi can’t remember what love feels like. When a stranger offers her a way out of her horrid situation, Abbi is torn. She tried leaving once before and the result almost cost her life.

When Frey finds his mate in the beautiful yet subdued Abbi, the pull between them is undeniable. He vows to find the smile hidden beneath her pain, to give her back her dreams, to see her dance. He will do whatever it takes to rescue her from the hands of her husband, even if it means protecting her from the sidelines.

WARNING: Book 4 is full of love, pain, and redemption. This book contains Domestic Violence and non-consensual sex between spouses. It also has a HEA. This book is part of a series, therefore best if read in order.

This series has so far been the usual love story between a Gargoyle and his mate. This is not a bad thing and I've loved them all. This time, the author chose Frey, who finds his mate, but she is already married. The story still has so many beautiful and passionate moments, but it brings up the terrible types of abuse that is so prevalent in our world. While it was difficult to read those parts, I was very impressed that this was brought to the forefront to keep us from forgetting how often people are being abused every day and the sheer number of people.
Frey is a kind, strong, compassionate and loving warrior of the Gargoyle Clan. This book still shows how very close everyone is in the Clan, and that they would do anything for each other and their mates. It also shows that there are people who will take care of total strangers, no matter what the personal cost to themselves. This is most definitely a love story, even through all the pain and sadness. Frey never gives up on Abbie and her brother, always being there for them.; and in that respect this is a true Stone Society novel. We get into more about Jasper and other characters from previous books, making me look forward to the next installment. I recommend Frey's story to anyone who has begin this series and to those who have not...........please get started because you won't regret it. Kudos to Ms. Gibson for this particular novel.

This book has a disclaimer and it should be taken to heart. NO ONE reading the book should find anything wrong with the way the plot is written because to do so is to pretend the situations in the book aren't realistic. No, I'm not describing the science-fiction aspect, but the horrors of domestic violence.
Fact: On average, 20 people within the next sixty seconds will be physically abused by an intimate partner.
Faith Gibson gave a real-life look at what happens within some marriages and families. Then she gave a reality check to readers about the "brotherhood" that protects law enforcement and other law makers from getting into trouble when they violently, brutally harm individuals, including spouses and intimate partners.
Fact: 1 in 5 women have reported being raped IN their lifetime. Nearly half of these women were raped by an acquaintance. Nearly half of those women were raped by an intimate partner.
THE WRITING IS PHENOMENAL! I said this with Dante, and I'll honestly repeat it. Faith Gibson's writing continues to get better and better. The details are so life-like, I did cringe with this book. And be prepared to do so. It's. Worth. It. To get through the matter at hand, to understand why Frey is so gentle with her - not that I would expect a good Goyle to be anything but a gentleman - to understand why he's so supportive of her decisions, of Matty, the story *must* start where it does and be as detailed as it is. And it's ABSOLUTELY perfect for what this reader feels the author was trying to convey. (Having worked as a court and family advocate for a domestic violence agency, please trust me - it's written as it occurs. Perhaps even less brutal than I've seen.)
Don't turn away from the story based on reality, I beg you. It's not going to be something everyone can read. Please heed her warning, but THIS BOOK IS BEAUTIFUL.
Frey meets Matt first, his mate's sister, and automatically wants to champion the boy. Then he meets Abbi and he's disappointed that his mate is a married woman. But things seem off to Frey, and he begins to unravel the truth of Abbi's life. The relationship with Matt and him, while connected, remains apart, and I love that in this story. And while there is a definite connection between Abbi and Frey, she's a married woman - both trying to take her commitment to someone else into consideration in spite of the intense pull between them - and so there isn't as much of a physical relationship in the beginning between them. But the amazing relationship that builds between them is breathtaking. It's everything she needs. And Faith Gibson did her research to know just how to make that tough situation work. It will make your heart ache in a good way at how perfect it really is.
As to Jasper and Trevor? She's k.i.l.l.i.n.g. me with the tension and tug and pull. I can't wait for Jasper to finally get the love he deserves.
You won't go wrong with this book unless you miss the beauty of it looking simply for a romance. NONE of the Stone Society has simply been *just* a romance. They're all so, so much deeper on every level the reader should be seeking in not just a good read, but an INCREDIBLE one.

Frey is the brother who owns the helicopter that took down Gordon Flanagan, he is the brother that owns a gym/dojo & he is the brother that I like the most so far in this series.

Abbi is in a very bad marriage as her husband abuses her almost every day & in every way possible; her husband thinks that because he's a cop that he can get away with it & that no one can stop him. At, the end of this book he finds out how wrong he is. Especially since Abbi is Frey's mate.

This book does contain the good vs bad plot, non-consensual sex scenes & consensual sex scenes, it contains a brother that wants to help his sister get away from her abusive husband not only because of what he does to her but what her husband does to him as well, this book contains love, family& friendship as all the gargoyles step up to help Frey protect Abbi & Matthew.

This book was heart wrenching but in the end, Frey, Abbi, Matthew & Amelia become a family.

This is book 4 in the Stone Society series and it was another beautiful read, but this time only 4 stars because there was some annoying repetition in the beginning. Dialogues from book 3 were repeated word by word just from a different point of view. That was like a damper right at the beginning. But then it got better and better. Frey's story is really heartfelt and while Abbi sometimes didn't feel completely believable in her thoughts/reactions, I loved the book and know I will reread it in future.

This story is awesome, OMW I loved it. The storyline pulled me in and kept me captivated. The characters, both Frey & Abbi were amazing. Frey, was an absolute angel even though he was a growly, overprotective alpha male. Abbi, wow what a strong, sweet, caring person considering all she went through. I also loved all the Amazon/Badass guys, just loved each and every one. This book had lots of emotions running through it and Frey and Abbi had great chemistry. The story is really involved with more than one person's point of view but it's different and thoroughly enjoyable. Loved it!

Frey learned many centuries ago nothing in life worth having comes easy. HOLY FREY!! Now THAT is one FANGTASTICALLY intense book that I could not put down if I tried! Well, I actually don't know that for sure since I didn't even try to put it down, but you know what I mean! There are so many aspects to love that I don't know where to start! First though I want to offer my opinion up about the warnings regarding this story. I was torn about starting this book given the warnings, but also because I absolutely adore Faith's Stone Society series and with her amazing gift, well I tend to become so immersed, consumed and lost inside the stories & with the characters that I was worried about living all of this horrible part as well. I have thankfully never lived through anything even remotely similar to what Abbi & Matthew have, so my opinion is based on the story only. I felt that Faith handled it in a very classy way. While the abuse was there, for the first portion of the story it was more based on hiding it, not living it with the characters, while the other part was kept to a minimum number of scenes, and not overly described. Then there were a couple of awful scenes, but again Faith has a way of making great things stand out more than the bad! Now, on to the good stuff! I cannot believe how awesome this story is! “Frey was a god.” ANYONE would die for a guy like Frey – I know I wanted him! - but seeing someone like Abbi being his mate, someone who needs a guy like Frey, well that completely makes it okay that he isn’t mine...almost. snicker “Why did the man have to be so enticing? She thought he was hot before. This Frey was scorching. What was up with her and fangs?” (Trust me Abbi, I know EXACTLY what you mean! Oh so HOT!!) I loved the dynamics of the Clan! How they are so ready, willing & able to upend their own lives to help another with his mate is just beyond words! But to do so for Abbi & Matt is just so cool! I love all of the different people whom most of which are Gargoyles, but some are 'just plain old' humans. LOL I love how there are so many different storylines going on at one time! Each book has its own main story arc, while there are multiple offshoots almost that carry over from one book to the next to the next. The fact that there are multiple people and storylines gives the story even more added depth, and it also keeps it moving so you never have "stale" or boring parts. With quite a few authors this could be a downside to the story & series, and many times it takes so much away from the reading pleasure by making it too difficult to follow or too complicated to be able to just sit back and lose yourself, but that is most definitely NOT the case with Faith's books! Her stories flow so fluidly, popping in and out of storylines and moving from one character to the next to get the different perspectives. This all brings such a beautiful richness to the story. Add in the fact that you get completely lost into the story from the very first page, hell even from the cover, coupled with being able to become one with the characters, well it all adds layer after layer, intertwining & linking in & out of the multiple story arcs to give the story such a depth to it that it is next to impossible to come up for air until you are forced to because of those two most hated words by any reader - The End. Of course one more sign of a fantabulous book is when you are so fully immersed & absconded into it that you can't tell which reality is the real one! With Faith's phenomenal talent those things are a very real experience you do not want to miss out on!! I cannot wait for more books in the Stone Society series to come out! Thankfully there are lots of Goyles out there searching for their mates (or trying to find a way to save their mates!) so I am hoping that is a great sign of future books to come! All in all – you NEED to read this book & this series!!! Faith will have you so blown away with her characters and the story lines and the love and hotness that you will become almost “ruined” for all other books! But what a way to go! LOL

Can't get enough of Faith Gibson's writing. These books have a large cast of characters and you get to know them all so you're not lost when they speak of others. These books don't have a lot of intense sex scenes, just enough to keep it interesting. This is book 4, I'm off to get book 5.
