    I always enjoy Hazel's books, and this series is no different! Nina has been hurt in the past, but was it just her pride or was she really hurt? She makes personal discoveries about herself her freshman year in college, and Carter is one of them. In Nina's past her boyfriends always seem to cheat on her, and she doesn't want that again in college. So she tries to take the romance out of the sexual relationship with rules to protect her heart. Carter has been hung up on Nina since her met her the first week of Fall semester. The journey these two share is somewhat a predictable rollercoaster, but so worth the read. They will have you laughing, crying, and smiling like a fool and it will be hard to put down until you finish their story! I'm also glad we got to see a little bit of Zoey and Logan.

    I am voluntarily leaving a review of this book that I received as an ARC. Hazel Kelly has done it again! Cart and Nina's story was just as amazing as Logan and Zoey in book 1. They have scorching chemistry and agree to be friends with benefits which of course becomes more but not without some issues. I actually wanted to reach into the book and smack Carter at one point. You get all the feels in this book with some humor, drama, hot sexy scenes, and I even teared up a bit. A definite must read! I loved it so much that I bought a copy once it went live.

    It was a decent read. Not great. Not terrible. A bit drawn out at times and wordier than necessary. I liked Carter. It was nice to see a reformed man-whore. Even better that he really went for it with her long before she even knew. I wasn't really a fan of Nina. If her history with guys was that big of a deal breaker than why did she say she was never broken hearted before? Just didn't really feel any connection with her character. She felt stale to me and I just didn't really care one way or the other. She was better toward the end but by that point I really had no investment to make. Overall, it was a fine story

Carter is your fun loving party guy that doesn't let anyone see what he hides behind the facade.     If you have read the first book of the Beta Brothers series, My Best Friend’s Ex, you would already have had a glimpse of Nina and Carter. Unlike Zoey and Logan who had quite a long history, Nina and Carter only met at the start of school, but Carter cannot deny his attraction for her. As Nina had failed relationships in the past and is not looking to jump into another and with Carter being such a player, she was blasé about his overtures. Carter has built quite a reputation as a ladies’ man and initially, and she never thought about him other beyond a possible friend with benefits. Well, not until they started to really get to know each other and found a connection. That was the start of complications.

    I love Nina’s character. She speaks her mind, is straightforward and a seriously independent chick who tries to hide her vulnerability. I relished reading the exchange between her and Carter. She’s one who does not easily get intimidated. She brought out the gentleman in Carter and made him care deeply for someone for the first time. These two imperfect people who were uncertain of what they truly wanted, navigated their relationship into one soul-crushing breakup. Would Carter realize his mistake, and would Nina take him back? The story is both simple and complicated. Hazel Kelly brilliantly writes it that way. I never skip pages of the character’s thoughts because they offer a great insight to the characters. It’s never boring even without dialogue. Her words are compelling and beautiful, and the conversations are witty and exciting. She describes the characters and situations with just the right amount of detail that creates a picture in my mind. Even if the characters are young adults, the maturity of the characters also appeals to an older reader.

    I truly enjoyed this book. It was an easy read as a standalone even though it is the second in the series. I look forward to more Beta Brothers books.

    I've recently discovered Hazel, and have been plowing my way through all of her books. Don't you love when that happens; you discover an author and you can't stop yourself from reading everything they write. FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS made me stop and realize that when an author inspires this kind of reading frenzy, and you realize it's not just steamy romance, but also wonderfully observed male/female interactions, family relationships, and same sex friendships all mixed up with an ease of writing, storytelling with no plot holes, and surprising vocabulary , it's time to leave a five star review. Everything about this book is wonderful: the editing, the pace of the story unfolding, the humour, the heartbreaking crisis, and the healing denouement . Hazel has now joined that rarified list of authors I one click because their name alone on a book is quality control; but this particular book just made it onto my reread list. Buy it, read it...... a more perfect set of romantic leads I've never run across. Nicely done Hazel.
