Freedom (F-Word) Kindle Edition
“Life doesn’t come with an instruction manual. But my junk does.”
Agoraphobe Jaden shouldn’t have let his big brother put a ticket in a blind date raffle for him. He wasn’t expecting to win. And his prize? It’s an overnight trip to the Grand Canyon. This gorgeous stranger is a wilderness guide, and they couldn’t be more different, but their connection is instant.
Henry's finally finished bottom surgery, and after years of staying quiet about his past, he’s growing tired of hiding who he is. But the two men are rubbing off on each other: Henry helps Jaden manage his fears, and Jaden shows Henry how to be vulnerable.
Back home in Denver, both men push themselves outside their comfort zones… but freedom always comes at a price. Can they take the plunge together, and finally step into the wide-open future that’s waiting?
Freedom is the fifth book in the F-Word series, which features queer found families, characters choosing their own labels, a lot of trans joy, opposites attracting, spice for days, and the happily-ever-afters we all deserve. This novel can be read as a standalone.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2023This was book 5 in the "F-Word" but it can be read as a standalone. This was a very good read and emotional for me. Jaden is an agoraphobe he has a fear of open spaces and crowds he is not happy when his brother Spencer drags him to a bar and enters him in a raffle for a date and he wins. His date Henry was dragged out by his best friend Trip. Henry is trans and he has a fear of being rejected. These two really liked each other. Both of these guys have been through a lot Jaden is tried of living the way he is living. Each of them looking for freedom. This book opened my eyes to some of the things that trans people go thru and the fear that they live with. Henry's boss was with him being gay but he had a problem with him being trans. Jaden has lived in fear for 5 years after in incident at the beach. Each one of them is learning new things learning to live life. Both of these characters were sweet and loveable. I myself have suffered from anxiety for many years and I think the author did a really good job with the subject matter in this book. I loved that each one of them had people in there live standing by them. I have read this author before this book was well written no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2020I believe we need more trans stories. I think it helps get the narrative out there and opens people's minds and hearts to others who aren't, or even are, like themselves.
This is a lovely story with compelling characters who you will be rooting for. Jaden and Henry are great together. They aim to be positive aspects of each other's life and to make their day brighter in the best ways possible. They might not have been expecting each other, but they embrace the change I their lives.
This is a wonderful story that you really should give a chance. Read it and enjoy like I know you will.

All the feels, dear author. You gave me all the feels.
I won't pretend to understand everything discussed in this book. But I got the gist of it and could infer from context the point the author was making.
That being said, Freedom is an excellent continuation of the F Word series. The author did an excellent job of character development for these two. Their backstories help me know them better without taking over the story, making it easier to stay in the moment with them.
Jaden and Henry are lovely people. They are each struggling to overcome things that many people wouldn't understand. The journey they are making feels genuine, which allows me to step into their world and experience a bit with them. I could feel their pain, anger, hope, and love as they move forward into a new part of their lives. So sweet, so touching, so real.
And the sexy times are very well done. So very well done. Mmmmm.
E. Davies teaches me something new with every book. Not dry passages without heat or emotion. No. The lessons are written with passion and love, with humor and pain as punctuation. This is some quality stuff.
As always, I look forward to more from this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2020I was so excited to read this book and it was amazing! I loved Henry and Jaden! Ed is one of my one click authors as I love his writing style. It’s so realistic and pulls me into the story. As I’m reading I feel like I could set the book down and walk outside and see Henry or Jaden walking down the street towards me. My favorite scene was the second time Jaden and Henry tried the hike when Jaden asks to move in with Henry. They are each so sweet with each other yet always worried about pushing their other too far with their anxieties. I highly recommend this book!!!! Love
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2020My first book by Ed Davies, first of many I think. I kept waiting for the typical romance trope of the loving couple being busted apart before finding their way back together - but it didn't happen. Which was exactly the sort of story I needed right now.
I loved the trans story. I haven't read anything like this before and found Henry authentic and sexy. Sure it's educational but mostly it's just a lovely romance.
Recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2020Wow!!! I loved loved loved this book! Henry is such a likable guy and so is Jaden. I understood both the guy's fears! I loved how they met, a raffle!
I loved Trip and Spence too! I loved the angst and the thoughts both fellows have as they try for their HEA.
Most of all I LOVE this author! I will always buy his books and I love his stories so very much! Their isn't an E Davies book i do not love. He is just amazing and everyone should read him.
I loved this topic, I know there isn't a lot of trans books out there but there are more than when I first started reading m/m. I hope it continues.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2020Ed has done it again! This book was amazing!!! I truly have enjoyed this whole series! Ed has shared so much to help with transphobia. Henry is a gorgeous, outgoing gay man who has finally finished top and bottom surgery. He is still a lil nervous about being out as trans, but he is ready to look for love. Jayden was attacked for being too gay and has severe anxiety because of it, but he's about to get a service animal. he's trying to step out of his comfort zone and he lets his brother talk him into putting his name in a box for a date through h2h.
These two men end up winning a date together and discover that they are a good fit! Chemistry is amazing between them and they each face some obstacles but come out the other side stronger together!

5.0 out of 5 stars I've been waiting for this
After reading the short story in the Heart 2 Heart anthology, I wanted this to be a full story. I waited a long time and !over it even more than I thought I would.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read
Jaden and Henry meet on an auctioned blind date. Both men have things that they’re working through and it turns out that the other is their person, the one who fits and makes working though things so much easier. I really felt for both characters. Jaden’s agrophobia was well described and I could almost feel his panic in e Davies writing. I loved Henry’s character. His portrayal felt realistic and I feel it helped me to understand some of what he went through in his transition, being that I’ve never felt that way myself. A fantastic well written book with likeable characters, just like the rest of the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Transitions
This narration about moving on from bad places in two different lives, described with sensitivity and depth of understanding, makes two very different, yet oddly similar, situations real and relatable. The problems of coming to terms with an outside world always ready to judge and be harmful, while acknowledging their own selves as valid and strong individuals, are laid out clearly, yet still manageable emotionally.
Good storyline, very nicely developed characters, believable situations and circumstances.

4.0 out of 5 stars Henry's junk..what! it's in the blurb...
This is by far my favorite read by E Davies. They write a great opening sentence in the blurb- 'life doesn't come with an instruction manual. But Henry's junk does'. That was enough to grab my attention.
With so many M/M romances out there it must be hard to stand out. The 1st sentence in the blurb did just that. I was slightly put off by the cover but aesthetics are in the eye of the viewer and what doesn't appeal to one reader may another.
The story covers two very different characters. Jaden, who suffers from agoraphobia (fear of open spaces, being outside ect) and Henry a wilderness guide who spends his time outside. Both are thrown together through a 'blind date raffle' for a date in the wilderness. Jaden's worst fears...
You'd think the 'strong, confident Henry' will take care of our Jaden giving us the generic m/m romance structure: stronger character supports struggling character BUT... the beauty of the story for me is the two-way support they don't even realise they give each other.
The subject of the Henry's junk is beautifully portrayed without glorifying the subject, of what must be at a times a hard, lonely, mental and emotional journey.
They both want to find love and we are not dissapointed by their journey. E Davies never leaves us with an unhappy ending
Highly recommended read, Well done E Davies.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful story about finding a happy ending after some tough times
E Davies has given me a wonderful story to smile about again.
Both characters have flaws, they aren’t perfect and they have had their struggles with life, when they meet, for a date they won in a bar raffle, there are no guarantees they will hit it off, but they are wonderful together, although learning about one another, each is so kind and caring they want the best for the other one and that is a strong foundation for a relationship.
I thoroughly enjoyed this - thanks
