GENT: An Enemies to Lovers Standalone Romance (#BitterSweetHeat Book 1) Kindle Edition
"This enemies to lovers story captures the reader from page one." — New York Times & USA Today bestselling author SL Scott
Raven Elliot blasts into town like a wrecking ball—striking and devastating.
With a few simple words, my reliable routine crumbles to dust.
"Is this seat taken?"
I could close my eyes and let her voice wrap around me like a lover's caress.
But this isn't that type of story.
And I'm sure as hell not that kind of man.
She hovers in my space, batting her lashes and smiling shyly.
The glimmer in her sapphire eyes is a promise of peace.
But I'm not falling for it.
And Raven doesn't take the hint.
What starts as a battle of wills, explodes into a turf war.
She stands directly in my path everywhere I turn.
No matter how hard I shove, she won't budge.
Raven seems dead set on driving me insane.
But I was here first.
And I'm not going down easy.
After all, no one ever taught me how to treat a lady.
GENT is a #BitterSweetHeat standalone novel.

Enemies to Lovers
Small town
Dirty talking heartbroken man
Bold & confident new gal in town
I adored Gent. Enemies to Lovers is my favorite trope. I love the snarky remarks and banter. Small town is one of my favorite settings. This book gave me all the feels. And, honestly, Harloe Rae just knocked it out of the park with these characters.
Trey was something else. There is nothing like a small town mechanic! I LOVED how dirty he was. His resistance and anger made for a little angst. Also, the tragedy in his life was so heartbreaking. I really just wanted to give him a hug; he would’ve pushed me away though. 🤣
Raven was a great character. She was strong, confident, and bold. I love the new gal in town theme. It makes books interesting, in my opinion. Raven’s ‘hobby’/job made things a little steamy, which I loved. She, also, suffered from own tragedy and I appreciate that it didn’t define her too much.
I was completely consumed by Trey and Raven. I was eating up their hate, banter, and sexual tension. How they met was fabulous, I was rooting for Raven all the way. Trey resisted so much, but he had no chance and I love how angry it made him. Also, Harloe Rae has a way of making her books super steamy without overdoing the sex scenes. I really appreciate this because I feel like some authors go overboard with it and it takes away from the characters. Harloe puts just enough. Did I mention the chemistry between these two? No. Well, it was off the charts! 🔥
All in all, it was a great read. The trope, characters, setting, plot, conflict, and resolution all on point. I can’t wait to read Delilah’s book!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2018Harloe has released her best book yet! Gent is filled with an enemies to lovers romance that sizzles and a host of secondary characters that will make you want to stay in this small town forever.
Trey is the epitome of an jerk. From the moment readers meet him, he spews vitriolic insults meant to harm. He has zero care for the feelings of others unless they are a part of his very small circle. What will happen, though, is that, like the heroine, readers will see the man he is underneath the surface. Readers will want to know how he became this way, and once we catch a glimpse of what has made him the way he is, they will begin to soften towards him and his gruff demeanor. The one aspect that I do like about his character is that Trey doesn’t change who he is, even as we see him fall for Raven and become a tad sweeter with her. He is still abrasive and belligerent, and I like that Harloe Rae stayed true to his character.
Raven is the transplant into this small town. While she seems sweet and docile, she is one of the few people that will call Trey on his bull. She refuses to believe that all he is is the town jerk. Part of the reason for her attachment to him is because they share a similar past, but unlike the others in the town, she refuses to let him alone. Through their encounter, readers get to see a softer side to him, and the way he ends up loving her is the reason readers love him.
Gent is filled with antagonistic and steamy scenes from the moment these two meet. She tempers that antagonism as these two get to know each other, and with each moment together, readers get to see them fall in love and evolve as people. The conflict of the story will not be a surprise to readers and neither will the resolution, but Harloe Rae gives readers a full look into what motivates these characters to fall apart and what pushes them to reconcile. So while the resolution is pretty quick, the use of alternating chapters allows readers to understand the decisions that bring them back together.
Harloe Rae’s Gent is her best work to date. She has created a cast of characters that I love, a small town I want to visit, and a enemies to lovers romance that is steamy and fun. It is definitely a must read.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2019I enjoyed the main characters and their chemistry. The sex scenes were steamy and worth the wait. It took me a while to get into the book but once I got over the first half of the story, it started to pick up. I have never been a fan of the loud and nosy (secretly obnoxious) best friend. I felt like every time something happened with the main couple the heroine would have to share it with Delilah. I’ve never been one to think you had to share every detail even with a best friend.
Our hero did get a little annoying with his hot and cold behavior. I felt like he had a good back story but I would have liked to see that elaborated on a bit more.
In this story I feel like we are told a little bit about a lot of things. Everything seemed a bit superficial and we were just skimming the surface. I wanted more in depth background and relationships.
I’m not a fan of Delilah so I might skip her book but Ask me Why by this author was a 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me❤️(It was an amazing Enemies to Lovers not connected to these books)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great enemies to lovers romance. Definitely a recommended read.
I would have purchased this book for the cover alone and as delicious as the cover is the inside is just as delectable.
From the moment Trey, the lewd, arrogant, carnal and extremely sexy dirty mechanic meets Raven the new girl in town the sparks fly, from their initial fiery altercation and subsequent unpleasant exchanges enemies become friends with benefits. Can Raven weave her way into Trey’s guarded heart. They say a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and I’m sure Raven’s Dirty Mechanic Cup Cakes are a great start.
Great enemies to lovers romance. Definitely a recommended read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it
This book was brilliant from start to finish and I couldn't put it down. I loved how Trey was with Raven compared to everyone else and what she eventually brought out of him. Raven has the patience of a saint and puts up with so much but she continues on and doesn't give up on Trey. Eventually it all falls into place after a moment of realisation on Treys part and we get our happy ever after. Definitely a must read, you will love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Filthy for love!
When Raven moves to her friend Delilah's home town to help in the cafe, she doesn't expect to be verbally slapped by a handsome man on her first night. Trey is the town grump and has a reputation that good girls stay away from. When Raven finds out about Trey's past, something inside her opens and they start a friend's with benefits relationship. What happens when feelings start to appear? Can Trey finally open up and let out the pain of his youth or is he completely closed off? Will Raven find out she's nothing like her mother after all?
This was a read of chemistry and hot times! The characters were ordinary people with love hot enough to singe. Can't wait for the next book

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable read
This book was an easy and enjoyable read. Even though the lead male character was kind of mean in the beginning I couldn't help myself from falling in love with him. The book is well wriiten with likeable characters and I would highly recommend it.
