Game Plan Kindle Edition
I’ve got one shot to win his heart.
I’ve had a crush on Preston Royce for as long as I can remember. Only, I’ve never told him, or anyone, because he doesn’t see me that way. And because his sister, Charlie, happens to be my best friend!
But when Preston’s girlfriend breaks his heart, Charlie comes up with a plan to get them back together—a plan that involves Preston and me pretending to date.
Yeah, it’s a bad idea cozying up with a guy who’s still in love with his ex, but it may be my only chance to get close to him before we graduate high school. He thinks we’re faking.
Meanwhile, I’m falling more in love with him...
Game Plan is perfect for anyone who likes their sweet romance with a dash of drama. It is the fourth book in the Varsity Girlfriends series.

About the author

Kayla has loved to read as long as she can remember. While she started out reading spooky stories that had her hiding under her covers, she now prefers stories with a bit more kissing.
When she gets a chance to watch TV, she enjoys cheesy sci-fi and superhero shows.
Most days, you’ll catch her burning dinner in an attempt to cook while reading just one more chapter.
Kayla lives in the sunshine state with her husband and three boys.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2019This is a bit like a continuation of Courtside Crush that switches from Charlie in the first book to Daria in the second. It's not necessary to read the first to enjoy this one, as it stands alone just fine, but it does provide a fuller understanding and appreciation of the story in my opinion.
Daria is a good girl, for the most part. She's trying to please her parents and make them happy with her. It never works. She's had a crush on Preston for years. Ironically, when she gets a chance to go out with him & it appears as though things could be looking up, instead her life seems to start falling apart.
Daria, while not a pushover, is still surprisingly acquiescent. Initially I was frustrated that she didn't stand up for herself more, but realized that she was right in believing her parents weren't going to listen. She was fortunate her aunt was able to help, but I did wish that she could have found a way to advocate for herself.
Preston's obtuseness is maybe a little hard to believe, but he's earnest enough & his apology is so sweet & kinda funny that you can't help but want her to forgive him. They do go really well together!
While the story is improbable, it is told believably enough to just sit back and enjoy the ride. The characters are easy to like and care about.
*Clean romance level: passionate kisses
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 20214 stars for Game Plan by Kayla Tirrell. This is book four in the Varsity Girlfriends series. I loved this cute young adult romance. I did shed some tears for Daria. I also wanted to slap the stupid off od Preston but I did eventually get over it. I liked most of the characters and the plot. You truly can not help but love Daria and Preston as a couple. They are both such great characters. I enjoyed this short but sweet read. It did have a happy ending and gave me all the feels. I enjoyed reading it so much.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2019This author sucks me more in with every book she writes. I loved this story so much. I wasn't sure who the couple was going to be this turn around, but man was it knocked out of the park. This book is written in Daria's point of view, Charlie's best friend from the series book 1.
I loved following Daria. Obviously I got parts of her in book 1, but it was nice to get to see her in the spotlight and get to understand what is going through her head. I wanted to hug her so much in this book with all she had to go through, but she was so strong through it all.
Preston I wanted to strangle through part of it. I love him but man I wanted him to open his eyes. Guys can be so clueless sometimes! I still loved him too though and really enjoyed reading his interactions with Daria.
This book is such a cute sports contemporary YA romance that will leave you with a smile on your face for well after you close the last page. I found my emotions all over the place in this book because the characters felt so real. I know this book and series has become one of my favorites and I will be re-reading them for years to come.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2019I thought the book had great potential but it's just ok. It's very cliche. But I love cliche. I just didnt like how some things went down. I guess I'm just nit picking. Like how the whole school found out about it. Or how she confess to her love to him in front of his ex. I would not read again.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2019Soooo; dude, I been planning to read this book! I couldn’t wait for it to come out... I was like I am so ready for Preston and Daria to date... but somehow; I forgot her name was Daria I thought it was something else for some reason. I don’t know why; but anyway it’s crazy to think that both Preston and Daria actually liked each other but was hiding their feelings for each other. Though half the time Preston was an idiot... I was a little mad that he did that to Daria over spring break... I’m like wow not cool; to not tell the person you were supposedly dating that you got back with your ex.
Though; in the book with Preston and I believe it was Mackey, Beth seem like an okay person, but turn out she was just horrible. But between Beth; being a turd... I want to know if Anderson will find someone to tame him; or is it the girl he (Anderson) taken to the prom? Will the author write a story on him who knows.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2020Good but but wish it wasn't so easy to guess what was going to happen. I also wish it had been longer.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2019I really liked this story!! It was sweet, unpredictable and swoon worthy without being too sappy. Characters and storyline felt real (along with the reactions of the mean girls...and boys). Well written and very enjoyable. Will look for more in the series and by the same author. And I’m not even into basketball!

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect ending to the series. :)
I really enjoyed Daria and Preston's story, although - as other reviewers have mentioned - I occasionally felt a little exasperated with Preston's cluelessness.
It was great to see Daria figure out what she wanted to do with her "life after high school" and stand up for herself.
And, yeah, it was fun to watch Preston eventually figure out that he and Daria might just be perfect for each other. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars All the feels
Well, this made me feel like a teenager again! Tirrell does an incredible job of creating believable teens, and then she makes you blush right along with them! What a great addition to the Varsity Girlfriends series.
