Can Claudia place her trust in Lord Pelham?
1816, Paris
As a frequent hostess of her father’s Parisian gaming house, young Claudia Herbert is one of the most sought-after belles in the city.
But when her father is murdered, she is forced to disguise herself and flee to England for her safety — and to carry out the dangerous task that he left her.
However, a twist of fate draws Claudia into the chaotic home of the Brewster children, where she agrees to help out until their uncle — Lord Miles Pelham — returns from his travels.
To Claudia’s dismay, Miles instantly recognises her from her old life in Paris.
And now she must decide whether to enlist his help or go on the run once again…
The Gamester’s Daughter by Dorothy Mack is a classic Regency Romance with a strong and daring heroine.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2021This is the best of the Dorothy Mack books I've read so far! It is the most like Georgette Heyer, and yet the most original as well!
Reminiscent of Heyer's book: "Faro's Daughter;" but only in its beginning. From there it sets off into a classic, but unique Regency Romance Adventure story!
Hoping to discover more stories this good in the Dorothy Mac collection!

Had skip lot of pages .
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2021This book came the closest to a Georgette Heyer.. in my opinion. Intrigue, light humor, romance, great writing. And the h and h both likable. And of course their happily ever after.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2020Stolen diamonds, a murder, and a romance that fate seemed determined to make, even if the participants loathed each other. Twist and turns of the plot keep you interested reading and interested just to see what happens. A fun read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Traditional good satisfying regency romance
All her novels satisfy the craving for good old regency romances that are yet humane , the heroines and the characters more complex than idiotic stuff that goes in cliche plots elsewhere. Hence the 5 stars since it's liberally given elsewhere to sub standard stuff. This is both feel good and satisfying. For the more discerning

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb!
From Paris to England; a coup de foudre; murder; a stolen necklace; a delightful group of children; an error of judgement in betrothal; a tangled web of feelings...what can I say? I was gripped by the plot, the characters, and the natural ending. Yet again, Ms Mack has hit the jackpot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a gamble to read this book
The story was quite different and quite enjoyable. Would have liked a little more repartee between the two but was still interesting and fun to read with a different plot to keep one turning the pages
