    A well written modern-day erotica serial with the historical feel of a super-filthy Jane Austen novel. You know--those ones Austen thought about but never got around to publishing under that lesser-known pseudonym of hers. 😏 Ahem.

    Litton can hold her own in any genre. There's an innate intelligence and humor to her writing that always shines through whether it's a traditional historical romance featuring the hottest Vikings of all time in Dream of Me/Believe in Me, a sexy alien Krinar World spinoff featuring a plucky heroine taking on a post alien invasion angry mob, or a naughty Jane Austen-esque serial featuring a young woman whose been sold into marriage to settle her father's debt enduring sexual punishment via bed knob.

    I enjoyed this series soooo much though the characters were carefully crafted to develop right infront ur eyes it was magnificent sexy sad ohh so funny lol I'm in love with Gemma and Charles and hope to get snippets of them in the other series the only thing I wished gor is a epilogue to see if they had kids etc and such but I'll let my imagination just run wild Thank u Josie I've already on to ur other series about Adrian

    I loved some of her other books but it was like this is a whole other, bad, author. Starts with the Lord of the Manner bending his new wife over the banquet table and goes down hill from there, very 1980s Penthouse magazine in style. Try her other books though.

    A salacious story. Not a safe, consensual BDSM story, but rather a tale of a husband's total control over his young wife and how this changes as their relationship develops.
    Charles tells Gemma that he wants her to help with the village fair. He doesn't mention the sexual nature of her involvement. Then Charles introduces Gemma to his personal gym with some additions to a standard gym setup. He also introduces her to the joys of running in the countryside and what they can do out there. Charles and Gemma are starting to care about each other.
    Gemma starts to develop her own voice. She is stunned when Charles tells her that they are hosting a house party at very short notice. Charles tells her that the staff will do all the work. Gemma is worried about what is going to happen at this party, but she is pleased to see that Charles only has eyes for her.
    Gemma works out how to achieve things that she wants. She receives Charles's sort of permission (he didn't say no) to redecorate part of the manor. She employs the very fashionable Antonio Ricci as her decorator, and her best friend Tillie comes to visit. Charles has been listening to his wife's tales of life at her old school, and he arranges a surprise for Gemma.
    After a bored Gemma nearly injures herself rescuing a kitten from the top of a very big tree, Charles needs to find some way of keeping her safe. Charles being Charles, he has acquired some German engineering designed to enhance their sexual play. This marriage has developed considerably since part 1. Charles is now very attached to his wife.
    Gemma has been kidnapped. What is Charles going to do? Charles and Gemma have been developing a more balanced relationship, then Gemma vanishes. Is Charles going to be able to get her back? Who kidnapped her?
    The penultimate part to Charles and Gemma's story shows how much their relationship has changed since part one. Charles now sees Gemma as a partner, not a possession. They are going to a reunion at Gemma's old school, but Charles is not going to let the visit destroy Gemma's confidence. Gemma and Charles attend a costume ball in London. Gemma is surprised to see Dame Aurelia there, but she is delighted to see what happens to this evil woman. Charles and Gemma's relationship has developed into a partnership, and the changes are delightful.
    I've loved this story. This book was first released as a series of short novellas. I read them as they were released week by week. You are lucky to get the chance to read the whole story in one go. I voluntarily received copies of these ARCs for review

    I so enjoyed this book! It was a fun and sexy romp with well-written descriptions. The main characters were engaging and charming, with a lot more depth than was immediately apparent. One of my favorite romances in quite some time.
