Gibson's Legacy: A Second Chance Rockstar Romance (Last Score Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 618 ratings

He was everything I swore I’d never want…and exactly what I couldn’t stop craving.

Walking in on Gibson Barclay deep inside some ‘lucky’ blonde was enough to stop my heart—and not in a good way. I should’ve turned and walked away. Instead, I stood there, frozen, while he locked eyes with me...and didn’t stop.

Everyone knew who Gibson was—our campus rock god. Girls lined up for a night with him, and he never turned them down. Arrogant. Shameless. Ridiculously hot. He was the kind of guy I swore I’d never fall for.

But even as I tried to forget him, something about Gibson kept pulling me back. Maybe it was the way he looked at me like I was more than just another girl in the crowd. Maybe it was how being near him made me question everything—including the sweet, steady boyfriend I thought I’d spend my life with.

I told myself I wasn’t that girl.

I didn’t chase chaos. I didn’t break hearts.

But years later, when a wrong number lit up my phone and that unforgettable voice came through the speaker…I realized some legacies are harder to outrun than others.

Review

"Very unique rock n roll outlook love story. I was impressed the different way the characters met and how they came together again. Never read a story that had complete change meeting. Most of them just start right off the bat. Loved it!" - Janee (Amazon Kindle Customer.)

"This is a story of many emotions. Passion, love, drama and sadness are all mixed up together resulting in one hell of a story that I couldn't put down. The characters are easy to relate to and you'll want to hook up with Gibson yourselves! I'm not going to say anymore as it will give away too much and this book deserves to be read with a blank canvas. You really must live this crazy ride with Gibson Barclay first hand!" - Kindle Friends Forever

"Gibson's Legacy was my introduction to K.L. Shandwick She thrilled me with music and meaningful lyrics, backstage groupie gasping, onstage sexy smirks and panty throwing, and a new understanding of star gazing. She surprised me as each new delicious detail was uncovered and kept me guessing and hoping that the secrets would be revealed and things would turn out the way that I wanted them to. The sexual chemistry between Gibson & Chloe was more than smoke, it was a forest fire." - Rosa Sharon: I Scream Books

"Rock star stories are a dime a dozen, so it takes a special story to grab my attention and boy, did this one ever grab it! Gibson is a young man whore and an up and coming rock star. Chloe is a young, innocent, sweet bar maid. Same old, same old? Absolutely not! I hate to say more, because she's written such a unique twist, I want you to experience it." - Jen F Amazon Kindle Customer.

Firstly, I loved this book and didn’t want it to end! It's also told from a dual point of view which I loved.

Twenty-four year old rock god, Gibson Barclay, is a teen sensation. He lives his life the way he wants to live it with little regard for the advice given to him by publicists and consultants. Gibson does things his way. He's rarely off the covers of magazines, newspapers or TV shows which are usually reporting his wild lifestyle. Women fall at his feet, no one ever tells him no, he knows how to seduce women because this young man just oozes sex appeal and always gets what he wants. However, is the way the world sees Gibson Barclay the real Gibson Barclay? Like so many of us, he's flawed, but you can't help but fall in love with him!

Chloe Jenner. She cleans at the club where Gibson's band play. She's dreamt of Gibson like every other female on the planet. And even though there's a split second encounter with Gibson where their eyes lock, she thinks he doesn't realise she's alive. But Gibson felt it when their eyes met, too.

Fast forward five years when they meet again. Gibson's hit the big time with his band and Chloe is recovering from an abusive relationship. Both have their own emotional baggage that they carry round with them, both feel the connection they have. It can't be ignored or denied; can they heal each other and find happiness together? Will Chloe give Gibson a chance? Can she tame Gibson's wild ways and will he want to be tamed... can he deal with all these new found emotions and feelings Chloe brings out in him? And does he want to prove to Chloe that the image he portrays is not the man he is, or is it a case of once a wild rocker, always a wild rocker?

I loved this book and I totally fell for Gibson. He's hot, sexy, charming and everyone wants a piece of him. Even the way he talks is sexy! Chloe is a great female character. She's seen Gibson at his worst and she's seen the endless conquests. However, she finds herself drawn to him, unable to get him out of her head.

This is a story of many emotions. You really must live this crazy ride with Gibson Barclay first hand! Can't wait for the next book; please make it soon!

I have stopped apologizing for my love of rockstar romances. I have even given up referring to them as my not-so-guilty pleasure. I read a lot, in many genres, but I do fit in a rockstar romance every 3rd or 4th book just because I do enjoy them. I'll be the first to admit that they do tend to stick to a few basic formulas for the most part, but I can't blame the authors for that because, really, how many directions can you go with them? If I was rating this one solely on plot line, this one would easily be a 6. Ms. Shandwick has truly come up with a very original one here. I feel like I would be dipping into spoiler territory to explain how she got creative, but I was very impressed with that aspect. I would give 6 stars also for the rockstar, Gibson, himself. Hot doesn't do justice to him, from his physical description, his unapologetic bad boy ways, and his deeply hidden softer, romantic side. Pretty much the perfect book boyfriend. Chloe, the book's heroine gets 4 to 4.5 stars. From spunky and sweet, to broken to somewhere in the midst of her Phoenician rise from the ashes, her character is quite interesting and multifaceted, if a bit too insecure as she works on her ascent. Perfectly understandable for all she goes through, and mostly necessary for storyline purposes, but it does get bit trying at times to not want to roll your eyes and smack her. Of course, she doesn't have the insight we readers have into all the truly romantic thoughts running through Gibs' mind. One other 6 star area is the chemistry between the two main characters - smoking hot for sure.

For adult reading only for explicit sexual situations and domestic violence.

The last line of the book is to be continued - I will definitely be watching for the next book in the series. Though there is no explicit cliffhanger, there is still a lot more readers are going to want to know - about the hero and heroine's relationship, about the leading characters themselves, about some issues brought up but not resolved in this book, and I'd love to know more about several supporting characters we were introduced to.

Sadly, I am going to have to give this one a 3.5 star rating overall. The book is in desperate need of an editor. I can easily overlook a few mistakes, a few more I might mention without it affecting my rating, but these were so pervasive throughout the book that they truly distracted me while reading it. Fantastic potential, and I honestly enjoyed it overall, but it would be so much better if it was gone through again to catch all the little things that added up to be a pretty big distraction.

I stumbled across this author earlier in the year with her delightful debut book "Enough isn't everything" . An amazing read followed on from there. Her books just got better and better and we met the delightful Alfie Black. I really didn't think that anyone could top him but Gibson Barclay? WOW! This is an amazing book yet again. Gibson is hot hot hot! The book has the alternative POV's which I love! There is also lots of steam coming off the pages and the sexy scenes are D#mn!

The book makes you think hard about all the rock stars out there and just what their lives are really like. Yes we see the spoilt ones but really, do we really know them? This story is about Gibson's rise to fame & fortune and how in his early days he was a man whore. Stereotypical Rock Star that has it all. But he still remembers the eyes of a certain woman called Chloe from years before. A chance encounter gets them to meet again. Gibson has matured and he is mesmerized by the feelings that Chloe gives him. Chloe is uncertain of where they will go. But maybe, just maybe she is the "one" that is different enough for Gibson.

And the great thing is with KL Shandwick's books, is that you don't just get to read about hot couples and great romance. But you also get introduced to songs and their lyrics and their meanings.

Can Chloe trust Gibson enough? Will Gibson still think Chloe is worth it?

Cannot wait to read the next installment and see where this couple goes.

    Excellent read. Very entertaining.

When an author has such talent please take some time to read again the story, I would have gladly put 5 stars if not the too numerous faults in the first book.

No matter what i truly loved the story, it was very enjoyable and i wish her author good luck on the sells. She is an indie author so don't spoil her, and buy her books! Thanks, she deserve it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing start to the series!!

Wow!! I don't know where to start...lol I loved KL's last books but I think I loved this one even more!!
For a start I was completely honoured to be mentioned in the dedication, this got me a bit emotional and I hadn't even started the book yet!!
It really had me hooked from the start, I instantly fell in love with Gibson and he is definitely my new bbf!! I don't like giving too much away in reviews so I won't give spoilers but I will say that this story hooked me!! The writing was brilliant and I definitely think even better than KL's last books....I am in no way putting down the others because I loved them too, this story just hooked me in completely, I loved the characters, the way it was written and it had some very HOT scenes in it!!!
Chloe is a great female character, I even found I could relate to her a bit with some parts of her personality. She has been through a rough time and given the opportunity to escape it all she takes it, in walks Gibson Barclay! She has seen him in some 'compromising' positions a few times but still finds she can't get him out of her head....and when you meet Gibson you will completely understand LOL He has the charisma, the charm, the sexy body, a way with words and to top it off is a Rock Star!!!
I loved the alternative POV's, I think it gives the reader more insight to how both characters are feeling and thinking within the same situation and when they are apart.
Gibson is the typical Rock Star that sleeps with any woman but has an instant attraction to Chloe from years back and is still there when he 'arranges' their meet. Seeing him with Chloe you see a completely different side to him and you can tell he is instantly smitten with her...
"I'm not messing with you Chloe. You give me feelings I've never had before. I don't know what the f$&$ to do with them. All I know is when you are near me it's like.....like someone has stuffed a helium filled balloon inside me. Like a floating feeling but inside my chest."
All I can finish off saying is that I loved this book, the characters were great and I loved the reference to songs in it just as KL always does. I can't wait for the next book, I definitely need more!! I highly recommend this book!!

Chloe thinks Gibson is wrong the way he treats women and she’s in a relationship but can’t help the way that he makes her feel and that she wants him. Gibson sees Chloe but knows that there’s chemistry between him and Chloe and feels it, but she’s in a relationship and they’ve just been signed.
Years later Gibson is the rock star he wanted to be, and Chloe’s life isn’t what she thought it would be, but when something happens she knows she can change her life to something better.
A twist in the book has Chloe and Gibson meeting again, Gibson has never forgotten Chole and the connection he felt, he just hopes that he can convince her that she’s what he wants.
Gibson wants Chloe to look at him as the person he is now, not what he’s past says or the media, he just wants her to see him and give them a chance. Chloe is shocked when she finds out that Gibson is her wrong number, although she realises that he’s different from when she knew him before, and he’s trying, the chemistry is still there between them, she wonders if the hurt in her past can stop her trying.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great first book!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 30, 2025
This is the story of Gibson and Chloe who meet in their late teens. Gibson is the lead singer of a band and Chloe is the cleaner at the bar his band plays at. Chloe catches Gibson in all sorts of compromising positions with other women during this time and I really thought it wouldn't be my kinda book but I actually really enjoyed it. Gibson is unapologetically himself and it was quite refreshing. There was always a pull between them but they never acted on it.

We then jump to a number of years later where Gibson has calmed his ways and only really acts out now immediately after a concert or when he is drunk. Chloe has just run away from an abusive relationship and is looking for a fresh start. They meet by chance when Gibson is given Chloe's new mobile number by mistake and the form a bond via phone calls. Gibson then realises that the Chloe on the end of the phone is the same one he has thought about over the years and engineers a meeting with her. From then on in, he has a one track mind and that's Chloe. What I really enjoyed about this book as that it's not all sunshine and roses! Chloe's abusive ex comes back on the scene and Gibson slips up and makes some fairly epic mistakes (no cheating). It was a very enjoyable read and I do love a good duet!

Loved this book! I am soo in love with Gibson. He is so raw and gritty and real. Yeah he's a manwhore but that all changes when he meets Chloe again and knows she is someone special. I hate how she assumes he couldn't possibly have feelings for her. Her total lack of self worth is so disheartening, yet know it is needed for the story line. When they get together they are explosive! Their chemistry is off the charts and Gibson is the ultimate sexy bad boy rocker. Can't wait to read the next one. K.L you rocked this one out of the park!
