- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI read the entire series, but loved this book the best. I loved Lintott's experiences in learning the city, especially the trolley and the barbershop. The earthquake was done exquisitely. One of the best books I have read in a long while. It's final conclusion was most satisfying.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseBeautiful use of language and characterizations that transport the reader to an earlier era and place, allowing him/her to be there to experience the rise, fall, and recovery of both resilient people and a great city after conflagration.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe story was great. The author's knowledge of history impressive. Love and expectations between men and women run to the extreme in a race to rescue a kidnap victim.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI was disappointed in this book To be honest I got bored and skipped a lot of pages. The first two Inspector Linott books were really good reads with good plots and colorful characters, not so much with The Golden Crucible.
