Groomed For Death (Robin Vaughan Equestrian Mysteries Book 2) Kindle Edition
Alone in New York City, can Robin bring Flora’s killer to justice?
Manhattan, 1990s
Texas equestrian Robin Vaughan has barely had time to catch her breath after exposing a killer before she’s off on another adventure, this time in the Big Apple with her husband Jeet.
Robin’s promised Jeet she won’t get caught up in any more drama. But when she meets quirky groom Flora Benavides, she’s amazed to discover a fully-fledged riding stable – the Claremont Riding Academy – smack in the middle of Manhattan.
And when she learns that someone’s been cutting off horses’ tails and selling them to the textile industry, she can’t just stand by and do nothing … can she?
Despite Jeet’s pleas, Robin finds herself being drawn into Flora’s quest to end this cruel practice. But when Flora falls to her death from a hotel window — and Jeet is wrongfully arrested for killing her —exposing the horsehair thieves is the last thing on Robin’s mind...
Can Robin expose Flora’s real killerand end an animal-rights outrage, all in twenty-four hours?
And can she convince the police her husband is an innocent man?
Told with Robin’s trademark humour, GROOMED FOR DEATH is an exhilarating tale of murder, mayhem and mistaken identity in the city that never sleeps.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2022Easy to read because I like horse novels. It was fast action with some funny moments. Recommend to readers that like easy reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2013This book was not only well-written, but had an unusual plot and setting for a horse novel, of which I have read many! Accurate in equestrian terms, it takes place in New York City and introduces worlds that don't ordinarily intersect. I was really involved and hated to see it end!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2023This author knows her horse stuff. She gets facts correct about horses and the horse world. Non-horse people will enjoy the characters and action and maybe learn a little something about a 'foreign world' to them. Banks writes in a very readable style. Conversations are natural and the characters seem real. I highly recommend this author's books!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2009This is another novel featuring Robin Vaughan, who now finds herself in New York and, inevitably, comes across another mystery! I love Carolyn's light-hearted writing, which never fails to make me laugh out loud at least a few times while reading each book. If you have liked her other novels "Death By Dressage", "Murder Well Bred" etc, then you will certainly like this one too. If you have never read anything by Carolyn before, but you are looking for a mystery with a big dose of humour, then look no further!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2011Very weak plot, weak character development, just all around weak. The paperback is only 178 pages, so at least it's a quick, boring read. The story jumps all around incidents that don't build to anything, they just seem disjoint. The climax writing left me with the impression that the author was just tired of writing this story and wrapped it up in a hurried, ridiculous manner. Even though I'm addicted to horses and love dressage, I was bored by the sappy, shallow references to attempt to showcase the author's knowledge. Don't bother to read this book, I imagine the author's friends wrote the 4 or 5 star recommendations.
