Her Brother's Keeper (The Sacred Hearts MC Book 9) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 414 ratings

Fate introduces people at both the right and wrong times…

Maren has had her life turned upside down and inside out, and she’s barely holding things together, when an unlikely hero steps into her line at the local store. He’s clad in leather, but with an open hand, gave her more than just the cash in his pocket.

Nox is about a far from a hero as they come, but something about the girl behind the register tugged at his heart, and he does the only right thing in the moment. Afterwards, though, he goes all in, bringing his brothers along with him to rescue a girl who may not even need it.

This mess could end beautifully, or in some serious time behind bars for Nox, but sometimes, it’s worth risking it all.

Love older man and a younger woman romance. When things happens in life sometimes you wonder if it's all worth it to fight. In Maren's case she has to fight, she's responsible for her little brother, but it's hard with the death of their father, she doesn't have time to grieve but in walk in Nox. He Became the friend, the shoulder she needed to deal with all the emotions. He showed her how to breathe and loved her how a man is supposed to love his woman, great read.

I’ve loved every one of the books in this series, each centered on a different brother and their woman. Nox is the main character in this story. He meets Maren, a seventeen year old who just lost her dad and is now responsible for raising her eleven year old brother. She’s got a lot on her shoulders and it starts out with Nox trying to help her. Eventually they end up together and can’t wait until she turns eighteen and is legal. There’s a nineteen year difference between them but they make it work. Excellent story.

This is my confession: To be honest; Im not a huge fan of this author. The books that I have read I have enjoyed but I haven't read everything, some just don't do anything for me. That being said I LOVED this book. The love between the characters was great as was the 'slow burn'. Granted many will call this a 'taboo' read, it didn't feel that way to me. At times the plot did seem to drag on a bit, but the writing was done well so I didn't entirely mind.

AJ Downey has delivered yet another amazing MC romance. She is one of the best MC authors out. Her characters are real. They could exist in any town and have real life experiences. And Nox and Maren could be any couple in any city in the USA.

This story does run slightly taboo, but not enough to squick out the reader. Nox starts as just wanting to help a young woman that the only thing he knows about her is that her father died. They develop a friendship that moves into a romance.

    Definitely a five star read.

Alright, I have to admit I was really excited to dive into Nox’s story, but I nearly put it down when I discovered the significant age gap. Still, I decided to give it a chance.

If you were to meet the four brothers, you might think Nox is the kindest among them.

Unfortunately, some people, like Maren, aren't as fortunate in life. She had to grow up long before turning 18, taking care of her family home, her younger brother, and her ailing father for quite some time.

As if that wasn't enough, she also had to navigate the complications of her ex-boyfriend, and her little brother was quite a handful too.
Everything came crashing down on her the day her father passed away just days before the holidays, and she still had to go to work. That day will always be a vivid memory for her.
Nox, also known as Landon Fisher, is a member of the Sacred Brotherhood, but he also runs his own business as a licensed massage therapist. Yeah, that caught me off guard too!

Nox certainly made a significant impact on this young woman in numerous ways.
The moment that truly moved me to tears was when he and his club members decided to support her and her brother during Christmas. They generously donated gifts for her younger brother and provided her with money to help cover her bills after she lost her job.
It was a genuinely kind gesture, and there were many other instances where he went out of his way to assist Maren and her brother Sage. However, I struggled with the fact that when they first met, she was just 17 and he was 36.
His club brothers warned him that their relationship was inappropriate, but he chose to ignore their advice. The so-called steamy scenes in the book became too much for me, and I found myself walking away more times than I could count.
I ended up skimming through those parts just to find out what happened with Sage. I want to clarify that I have no problem with age gaps in romance, whether in fiction or real life, but I just couldn't get past the fact that she was considered "jailbait."

All A.J. Downey books are great and very well written. I just wish her books would come out in paperback when then come out in kindle. I like to hold a book when I read and not read off a tablet. I am an over 60 reader and love a good romance and one you can feel with the characters. When I find a good author (who I met in person in Portland, OR two years ago) it is hard not to keep searching for another good novel. Keep up the good work A.J.

Maren is a cashier raising a pre~teen brother. She is dealing with a unruly customer on the worse day ever for her
When Nox becomes her hero. He shouldn't be thinking about her,
but he believes she is a woman stuck in a seventeen year old body
Really like this series and loved their story.

This story was unusual ! I guess I had a rough time with their age difference . Love has no bounds or age limit. Maren had a terrible childhood because of her Mom. Then her Dad died & she became overloaded with nothing but adult problems.

She always puts a massive amount of thought in the history of the characters bringing them alive for our read.
I was wandering how she was going to do this storyline when i read the synopsis but i should never have doubted.
