    My all-time favorite romance! But to be honest, Patrick isn't my favorite name. Besides that, I loved absolutely everything in this book!! I love the title and how it related to the book. I loved Patrick's company and how much he loved his hobby and love for the outdoors and turned it into a successful business. I love how he much he cared about Mia but didn't puruse anything with her because he didn't want her to move her company across the country so they could have a relationship. He is so selfless and I love that amazing quality! I love his cat Zeus and the little chapters that were in his POV and how he would interact with Patrick and Mia. I love that the entire book was in his POV apart from Zeus' little chapters. I loved how he took Mia out at the beginning to help her relax and how he was willing to have her just as a friend so long that she remained in his life no matter how much he wanted to be in a romantic relationship with her. I've really been enjoying Ms. Blakely's books lately and I didn't really expect a whole lot from this. I had read the first chapter that was included at the end of Most Valuable Playboy and was intrigued but never thought much about it until the release date was closer. I put off reading it for a few days but then I gave in and read it in just a little over a day whenever I could. I had also recently joined Audible so I of course had to buy the audiobook after listening to the sample that was just so good!! I love that I wasn't thinking this would be that amazing of a book but it somehow turned into my favorite romance and I absolutely love it!! I definitely want to anticipate each of the author's books that come out because I know how reliable of a writer she is and I will read them but after reading this, it makes me want to put them at the back of my mind so I will hopefully enjoy them as much as I did with this one!!
    In conclusion, I loved all the stuff in this book. It was truly magical and cannot wait to listen to the audiobook and also read this many times again and again. I am also very tempted to buy the paperback version because I am trash for this book but we shall see!

    Although I find it hard to imagine that an outdoorsman can live happily in NYC, I enjoyed this book. I mean, it sounds like he is right on the cusp of the mountains! It’s been a while since I’ve been to the city. Maybe it’s time to visit.

    I love hearing about the other couples that we’ve previously read about in other books of the series. All of the characters are wonderful so it’s nice to hear about them again.

    I love a man that knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go get it. That is the definition of Patrick. I love Patrick. I love how “normal” he is AND thoughtful as well as a good friend. All fantastic qualities. I think he found the perfect match in Mia. She’s her own kind of know what I want and ain’t afraid to grab it. Perfect pair.

    And my favorite character in the whole book?!? ZEUS!!!! OMG!! LOVE ZEUS! Lauren, you should make a Zeus T-shirt with a cat with a harness wearing a bow tie or something equally awesome! I would buy one!! I’d happily wear it for you!

    I love Zeus. I love that he likes adventure and goes hiking with his human. I have cats myself and they all have different personalities. I don’t hike but maybe I should...you get the idea. I love how Zeus has his own little chapters and how they are strategically placed revealing little details a little on the down low.

    I’m a huge Lauren Blakely fan. A new book from her is an event for me, especially when it’s one of her brilliant male point-of-view romantic comedies. Hard Wood is the latest addition to her loosely connected series of standalones, all told from the male hero’s view point, are, quite simply, romcom magic. Blakely has delivered a peek into the male perspective through these sexy, sweet stories that has been consistently entertaining, completely unputdownable and wholly addictive.

    Readers of this series have been teased with a Patrick Milligan and Mia Summers pairing for a few books now. This couple held so much promise, and I have been looking forward to their book since I got my first glimpse of them in Joy Ride. In Hard Wood, Ms. Blakely created a couple with tremendous chemistry and the kind of quick-witted, back-and-forth banter that kept me furiously tapping my Kindle screen to devour the words. A solid foundation of friendship may have been the basis of this relationship, but the combustible attraction pulsing between Patrick and Mia proved impossible to resist. They just fit so well together, but with an entire continent between them, proximity seemed to be an insurmountable an issue for Patrick, who was ready to go all in.

    One of the things I love most about Lauren Blakely’s writing is the exceptional attention to detail she layers into her stories. It’s everywhere in her books, and these elements and facts add interest and individuality to her books and help to create these richly developed stories. Like the little things in to every couple’s relationship that makes them a unique and fun pairing. Liberal appearances from some of the other couples in this series rounded this story out from one that was great into something truly special. But it was the quietly observant, secret-keeping cat that loved hiking who totally stole the show.

    Hard Wood is the kind of heart-racing, hope soaring, face-flushing love story that I love to read! It was sexy, romantic, funny and an absolute pleasure to read. Blakely has penned another winner in a series full of them. Five smooches from me!

    Hard Wood fecha a sequência da “não série” de standalones de Lauren Blakely e é um encerramento com chave de ouro. Os romances standalones iniciados por Big Rock possuem em comum vários temas: contados pelo ponto de vista dos personagens masculinos, muitos mostram rapazes que se apaixonaram pelas irmã dos amigos e, em alguns casos, os protagonistas (herói e heroína) eram amigos antes de serem flexados pelo cupido.

    Mia is Max's sister, and Patrick is Max's closest friend; that is how they met. The problem turns out not to be the friendship, but the distance, she lives on the west coast and is in New York sporadically. But the attraction is still strong.
    Mia is a strong, independent businesswoman, and Patrick runs his own outdoor/in the wild business, too. Their chemistry is undeniable and this is a fun and romantic tale. Add in Zeus, Patrick's cat (who gets his own chapters), and you have a humorous and terrific read.

    Loved this sweet, hilarious story! Patrick and Mia were so cute together and it was refreshing how they worked through everything together in an upfront kind way without any drama. Not that I don’t love the drama filled stories too! 😉 Absolutely loved the conversations with the cat chapters 😂 it was adorable. Wonderful heartwarming love story!

    I have loved the Big Rock series, but I have to say Hard wood is definitely my favourite. As it was quirky, fun, entertaining and after a slow start it soon had me hooked. With great characters, who had plenty of chemistry. Chapters told from Zeus the cats point of view and appearances from all of the other couples in this series. This really was a great read and a brilliant ending to the series.
