I love this books, and all the books in the series. I've read all of them. They are fun reads, with plot twists and interesting characters. Ms. Whiting developed the main, recurring characters very well in this book, and continued to develop them in the other nine books. I enjoyed every minute of reading them and will definitely go back and read them all a second time in a couple of years. I have been reading mysteries for more years than I care to think about and am usually pretty good at figuring out who the villain is...but not in these books. I haven't gotten one right!

I only gave a four star review because there were two quirks. The first is that Ms.Whiting does not use the word "of" where it should be used...a habit that Nora Roberts also has. I don't understand why this word is constantly left out. Example..."a couple hours" rather than "a couple of hours." The second quirk, in my eyes, is her mention ad nauseum of the car Danielle drives, a Ford Flex. Everyone else just has a car...Danielle's car is the only one mention by make and model number in all the book, multiple times in many of them. I almost have to wonder if Ford is paying her to tout the car. I hope this isn't going to be a new trend in advertising!

Enjoyable ghostly cozy mystery about greed, missing treasure and family. Lin Coffin returns to Nantucket after her Grandfather dies to receive her mortal and ghostly inheritance.

This cozy mystery has been sitting in my TBR pile and I decided it was time to read it. A Haunted Murder is a cute story featuring two sisters, one of whom can see ghosts. Although she had not seen any since childhood, ghosts once again start appearing to help her solve a local murder – and clear her sister’s name in the process.

This is a quick and easy book for anyone who does not have a lot of spare time and simply wants to read something fun. Pet owners will also be enchanted by the dog who is a part of this story.

Although the ghosts and some of the townspeople try to help provide clues, these hints are often misinterpreted. However, the killer is eventually apprehended.

I enjoyed this story that takes place on Nantucket Island about a woman returning to the place of her birth after inheriting her grandfather's cottage. It's a typical cozy mystery in that there's a murder in a small town and an amateur sleuth (the heroine) attempting to solve it, but there's a little something extra in that the heroine can see ghosts. The first book in this series is a quick, but fun, read, and it's a complete story in itself--no cliffhangers (which I hate!). Good start to what promises to be a good series.

There are writers and there are authors. Writers publish books, regardless of quality; authors tell stories; again, regardless of quality. Whiting is an outstanding writer and author, telling stories with believable characters with clear and reasonable motivation, good pacing and dialogue. She is also a great writer who can tell the difference between 'there' and 'their'; present and past tense, and who has access to (and USES!) spell-check. There are too many authors out there in e-book-land who seem to think that because they can self-publish, they SHOULD self-publish - often without the benefit of an editor or even a proof-reader. Coming across Whiting's books, therefore, is an absolute delight. Each of her series sticks to it's own tone, from breezy/cozy to serious. All are an excellent read. (Plus, she really gets cats...) My recommendation is to read everything she has written.

Likable characters, likable pets, lovely premise and location, with just a bit of supernatural to boot. I was looking for a 'light, easy read' and got my wish in spades. Halfway through Lin Coffin #1, I ordered the remaining four books in the series.
I usually shy away from short reads like this because I view 200 pages as more of a novella than a book. Plus if I like a story, 200 pages just isn't enough 'book' for me. Glad I broke my own rule.
Highly recommend if this is your cup-of-tea.
