The Haunted Stroll (A Lin Coffin Mystery Book 10) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,400 ratings

This is book 10 in the Lin Coffin series by USA Today Bestselling Author J A Whiting. Nantucket’s annual Holiday Stroll is fast approaching and when Lin Coffin delivers a wreath to a client who owns an art gallery, she is drawn to a painting of an early nineteenth-century sea captain. It is clear the captain needs Lin’s help, but he remains invisible and is unable to communicate with her. The spirits of Lin’s distant relatives provide her with a clue, but it is mysterious and difficult to understand. Lin, her cousin, Viv, and island historian, Anton Wilson, work to find the links between a break-in, a long-ago triple murder, and a buyer who offers ten times what the painting is worth. Will the Nantucket sleuths be able to figure out what the spirit needs from them before it is too late? This story has ghosts and some mild paranormal elements.

I have read a couple of the Lin Coffin mysteries previously, looks like I’ve missed several. I’m going to have to go back and catch up on the ones I’ve missed. It was enjoyable to watch the old story unfold and learn how the 100 year +, mystery unfolded into today’s mystery. The paranormal seemed so very probable in this story.

I really like this series, all the characters, Lin, Vic, Jeff, John, Anton, Libby and Leonard and how well they all get along, they're their own little family. I'm happy for Leonard it's time for him to move on. I liked that Captain Baker is watching over the house owners, and I also liked the Shows. I felt there was more to the portrait then it just being of the captain. I do like the paranormal activities in these books. And they even got a couple really bad guys.

This was a very interesting book. Lin Coffin’s skills are expanding? She meets a ghost via a portrait of the real person. She helps the ghost protect a family, years after the ghost watched as his son was murdered just before he suffered the same fate at the hands of a vindictive person.

Following the lives of Lin and her family and friends provides is entertaining!

Liz Coffin and her cousin Viv; Nicky and Queenie, fiancés Jeff a carpenter and John a realtor, Leonard Liz’s partner, Anton Wilson, area historian and Libby Hartnett all make up the series and all are involved whenever a mystery or murder occur in the town of Nantucket.

So when Liz and Leonard go over to one of their clients, The Snows, to put holiday garland, ribbons and wreaths on one of the historical homes that will be part of the holiday strolls. The Snows bought a large mansion built in 1805 for a wealthy Captain Samuel Baker. A painting of Captain Baker by artist Lincoln Patenaude captured the attention of Liz, pulling her into a mystery. The Captain and his son, along with the current home owner were killed over 100 years ago.

Once again great story and hints of things to come, an upcoming wedding of the two couples. Another reviewer mentioned The Snows, it would be nice to see them coming into the story-line again.

Lin and Viv are being shown some of the paintings that will be shown at the gallery for the holiday festival. Lin is pulled in by a painting of Captain Samuel Baker who was the original builder and owner of the house. Lin learns the Captain and his son were murdered in the house. The ghost had a fit about the new owners and threw things. Anna tells them she had a talk to the ghost, they would respect him being there and he had to be respectful back. Things were fine after that. Man offers to buy painting and they refuse. Lin has to solve the problem.
