She must navigate her way through the challenge to the throne by her cousin Mary Queen of Scots, the threat from the Spanish Armada, and marriage proposals from European monarchs desperate to steal her power. Not to mention her own personal heartbreak…

David was born in post-war Nottingham, and educated at Nottingham High School. After obtaining a Law degree he became a career-long criminal law practitioner and academic, emigrating in 1989 to Australia, where he still lives.

Combining his two great loves of History and the English language he began writing historical novels as an escape from the realities of life in the criminal law, but did not begin to publish them until close to fulltime retirement, when digital publishing offered a viable alternative to literary agencies, print publishers and rejection slips.

Now blessed with all the time in the world, his former hobby has become a fulltime occupation as he enjoys life in rural New South Wales with his wife, sons and grandchildren to keep him firmly grounded in the reality of the contemporary world.

I have now completed the Tudor series. I so enjoyed this author's approach to this family. From the eight wives of Henry to the Spanish Armadale the crown of England was ever in peril from within and without. Thank you for such authentic descriptions of characters and events. The Tudors is a well written saga . I highly recommend this series.

I loved this book. You have to Fremantle sorry for her boot being able to marry the love of her life. How unusual is it for a women to carry Love such as she had for Robert to her grave. She aS a great queen. A women in a male dominate time ruling a country and refusing to marry. She .was a very strong and intelligent women.

This is the most complete book I have read about Queen Elizabeth I reign. I have read many about her and the Tudors. It covers not only herself as a statesman and politician, but as a strong and still vulnerable woman. Excellently written!!

Elizabeth is my favorite of the Tudors so I really enjoyed this book. I liked how the author expanded on Elizabeth's decline because it made me question my own life. Very enjoyable read.

A great series altogether. Thoroughly researched, highly readable, rich, believable characterisation of players both actual and fictional and a refreshingly different angle on a much loved and exhaustively studied era in our history. An entirely plausible presentation of another viewpoint on the reigns of the Tudor dynasty which, despite all the recorded facts available to us, must forever remain somewhat shrouded in mystery.

I have enjoyed all six books. I love reading about the Tudor times. Some history novels can spend a whole chapter on just one battle not these books just a jolly good read

A well researched book, enjoyable to read. A little insight into how she saw her world. I would have like more on her relationship with Walsingham and her other advisors .
