About the author

Joan Reeves, Writing Happily Ever After—Time After Time, is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Romance. Regardless of the sub-genre, all of her novels have the same underlying premise: "It's never too late to live happily ever after. Her novels have been published in half a dozen languages, and her books are available in audio, ebook, and print.
NOTE: Since Joan has been writing for several years and had print books published with many publishers—American and foreign—be sure you choose a print book with a copyright date after 2011 because Amazon shows all of her old print books here. (Authors have no control over this.) The new print editions have been expanded and show new cover art.
When not writing romance—or nonfiction to share what she has learned in life—Joan divides her time between the hustle and bustle of Houston and a house in the Texas Hill Country where she and her hero, her husband, sit on the porch at night, look at the star-studded sky, and listen to the coyotes howl.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2017I really enjoyed this story. I won't spoil it for you by telling you in detail what happens, but attempted murder, amnesia, hot flaming passion between the heroine and the hero got my attention. The story was well written and the ability of the author to shift from one point of view to the other was streamless and refreshing. I was drawn in immediately to the Tessa's plight and the suspense kept me on my toes until the end. David definitely became my book boyfriend. If you love the passion and sex from the beginning to the end, this story will keep your interest. I am definitely interested in reading the other Outlaw Ridge, Texas Books from this author. GREAT read!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2017Tessa was a victim of an attempted murder. It resulted in a complete lapse of memory. Her husband through a detective found her. He wanted to erase her from his life. He took her to his Grandparents place to get her to sign the divorce papers. He understand but she was like the Tessa he had met and married. Not the one she had become.
Ms Reeves is a very good story teller. You become invested with her characters. Very good story.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2016Heat Lightening grabbed me with the first paragraph of the prologue. Who was after Tessa and why? Then the author raised more questions with the introduction of David, her husband. Clearly, he loves Tessa and Tessa loves him. The sexual tension flames the page. Yet neither trusts the other. Her amnesia explains her doubts, but why can’t David trust her? What happened to bring these two to this point in their relationship?
Reeves has deftly created a page-turning suspense with strong visual imagery and characters that tug at your emotions. Can't wait to see what the other stories in the Outlaw Ridge, Texas, Series will be like.

Fast, short read. Stand-alone that is easy to follow. Not all questions are answered.
Interesting storyline with descriptive writing.
Believable dialogue and characters with distinct personalities.
No desire to re-read this story. I am always interested in works by this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2015Just when you think an amnesia book can't be done well... Joan Reeves figures out how to do it. I've read quite a few amnesia plots in my day, and I enjoy them, but this one felt like it was ripped from the headlines. (I could hear the Law and Order music playing in the background)
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2021This book started from the get-go with action and amazing conflict. I enjoyed the characters very much, plus their obvious love for each other kept me turning the pages. I felt so bad for Tessa -- her past is pretty rough. I highly recommend this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2017I received a free copy of this book from the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
The story starts with a bang. Literally. Tessa is driving down a country road when her car is rammed from behind by a much bigger vehicle and forced off the road. She is rescued from drowning and is recovering when her husband shows up to claim her. She has amnesia and can’t remember him or anything about her past life. However, her body remembers how it fits into his. She trusts him but doesn’t understand his mood swings.
The story isn’t a long one, but there is lots and lots of romance. The reason for David’s moods swings and why Tessa was running away is all made clear during the story. If you’re in the mood for danger, true love and lots of sex, then this is the book for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2015At first this book was confusing until all the pieces begin to come together. This love story was terrific. Tessa's remembers nothing but when her husband finds her, claims her and takes her home she finds her body responding to his. But his responses leave her confused and frustrated and sometimes afraid. Is he who he says he is? This book had heart wrenching sadness, confused love, amnesia, action packed 'who done it' and of course a wonderful HEA. Great writing especially since it packed so much in to about 100 pages and did it so well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy and suspenseful
This was a sexy, suspenseful read that I didn’t want to put down. From the very first page, I was dying to know what happened between Tessa and David to spoil their marriage, and why someone was out to kill her—the very things Tessa can’t remember. A well-crafted story that kept me riveted until the end.
