4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 9 ratings

Jane Barnaby has planned the perfect Christmas vacation. Her father and his fiancé are joining her in Spain at her archaeological dig. They’ll see her work, meet her mentor, and they’ll all enjoy a few days of sunny Mediterranean beaches in the dead of winter. But it all falls apart when Jane’s annoying (younger?) brother tags along and lands in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. To clear her brother’s name, all Jane has to do is chase a wily female con-artist across Europe, catch her, and confront the woman and her accomplices. Oh, and outwit an ex-KGB agent and his personal goon squad along the way.

Review

Her Brother's Keeper: The Jane Barnaby Adventures, Book 3 is a sleuth mystery novel written by J.J. DiBenedetto. If Jane had mixed feelings about the wisdom of inviting her father and his girlfriend, Cassie, to Mallorca for the Christmas expedition she was part of, they intensified when she went to pick them up at the airport. Cassie and her dad had been going out for so long now, she couldn't really understand why they hadn't decided to marry yet. She was even more clueless why her dad had decided to invite her twin brother, George, to join them, without a word said to her beforehand. Still, she resolved to make the best of the slightly uncomfortable situation. To add even more chaos to the scene, one of the expedition members who had traveled with Joe, her father, and Cassie, had the unpleasant habit of talking non-stop, and would blithely insult, berate and offend anyone within listening distance. When they reached their host's house, Bill was nowhere to be seen. He had left Jane a note, asking her to play host in his absence. That duty would keep her busy overtime, especially after her brother made the totally unexpected acquaintance of a young blond woman.

Her Brother's Keeper: The Jane Barnaby Adventures is the third book in J.J. DiBenedetto's sleuth mystery series; however, readers who are new to the series will find that the author has provided enough background information throughout the story to allow this book to be enjoyed on its own. Jane Barnaby is an action-oriented archaeologist whose grasp of the right things to do in an emergency is both instinctive and finely calculated at a moment's notice. It's marvelous to watch her in action in this fast-paced international thriller as she tries to rescue her brother from a Russian criminal. This is a well-written and highly entertaining thriller that hits the ground running and doesn't let up on the suspense until the very end. Her Brother's Keeper: The Jane Barnaby Adventures, Book 3 is highly recommended. - Jack Magnus, Reader's Favorite

Her Brother's Keeper (The Jane Barnaby Adventures Book 3), my third read from author J.J. DiBenedetto. Outstanding suspense fiction, with well-written with characters & a plot you can buy into with unexpected twists & turns. Cait Frizzell's narration adds to the enjoyment of the book. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

J. J. DiBenedetto delivers another wonderful book in the Jane Barnaby series. In this book, Jane has signed on to work on a dig with her mentor, only this time her father, his fiancé - Cassie, and her twin brother George have joined the group. Jane's brother arrives with a bit of a chip on his shoulder, but before Jane has time to worry about how that will affect the family dynamic, George manages to get himself arrested for jewelry theft. Convinced he was framed, Jane, her soon to be mother-in-law, and the flamboyant, somewhat loud-mouthed Sheryl embark on a quest across Europe to find the real culprit only to find themselves in a situation more dangerous than they had imagined. Will Jane be able to clear her brother? Read and see!

Her Brother's Keeper is another page turner in the Jane Barnaby series. There were enough twists and turns to keep me guessing all the way through. At one point, I thought Cassie might end up wringing both Jane's and Sheryl's necks before the criminals got a chance to! Jane's character is lovable, and her ability to get in and out of trouble makes the series a fun read. If you like mystery with a little bit of thriller thrown in, this book is a must read.

Her Brother’s Keeper is the third book in the Jane Barnaby adventures. The book is a fun, somewhat silly, light romp with a frame up, a jewel thief, and spies that will keep the reader well entertained. Jane Barnaby is a character you won’t soon forget. This book works fine as a standalone, or even better if you’ve read the other books in the series.

The narrator does a delightful job reading the book, though she has a bit of trouble with a Russian accent.

I listened to this book as part of the box set.

Although this story is NOT horrible, I didnt feel very drawn in either. I like the overall idea in this book, but the writing was very elementary, and simplistic. There is a lot of work that needs to see a proof-reader, and editor. The formatting still needs work also. Not sure what is wrong, but the spacing etc is off.
"It'll be easier to grab Natasha and throw her in the back seat if we've got our own

car." was Sheryl's reaction. Then she added, in a tone that suggested this was something she

might have had personal experience with, "or the truunk."

This is an example of the formatting problems, and for me the lack of proofreading or editing.

This is another hit for the Jane Barnaby series. Like the two before, Jane is off on a crazy chase to help dig her brother out of a major hole he's gotten himself into. This time though, Jane has gotten her future stepmother and a loud mouthed new friend involved in the action and (plenty of) danger! How will Jane ever get her way out of this terrific mess this time?! This book has so much: car chases, ex-KGB spies, some espionage, major set ups, and even some silliness and romantic fun too. There's hardly any time to breathe while reading this adventure. Jane is such a likable character that even though some of the things she does are extremely questionable, a reader just goes along for the crazy, thrilling ride. Nothing but fun and thrills in this 3rd book. Just great!

This is exciting, fast paced and action packed. The storyline is intriguing and suspenseful and the characters are interesting. Once you start reading it you won't want to put it down.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest opinion of it.

I really enjoyed this book. The action never stops as you follow the adventures of Jane and her quirky friends through exotic, European locales. Along the way, they encounter a variety of villains. If you like an old-fashioned romp along the lines of a female Indiana Jones, you'll like 'Her Brother's Keeper'.
