Tall, dark, handsome Marcus Johnson is not the man for her, although the universe definitely disagrees. For four years now, he has appeared and just as quickly disappeared from her life. Avery Samson grew up on a ranch outside of a small west Texas town. Since she could remember, she’s had her face stuck in a book. High School graduation found her leaving ranch life for the big city.

After living all over the state of Texas, she now finds herself back on one of the family ranches near Dallas with her husband surrounded by cattle. A lot of them. They’re everywhere! When not traveling or reading, she spends her time writing.

    The chemistry between Marcus and Dia was instant. And from that moment forward he was hers to take. He was a man working towards becoming a surgeon. She was a freshman beginning her college education and doing so as a double major. A 6 ft plus gentle giant who was intrigued by the pixie with a sassy attitude & quick come backs was ready to get to know her. But a family emergency would cost him the chance. And it would be three more yrs of coincidentally bumping into each other before she'd give in to him wanting a do over. Now he gets the chance to show her how good they could be together. Then on his 25th birthday she decided to go away with her friend's for a girl's weekend. He then goes away with his boys. When a drunk gets a little handy with Dia, imagine her surprise when Marcus growls for him to let her go. Now a weekend get away turns into a Vagas marriage for Marcus & Dia. And Dia has to decide if Marcus really is her's to take.

    This was a nice little introduction to Avery Samson as she is a new to me author. I will need to go back and read more from her, particularly the first two in the Sideswiped series. This was an extremely fast moving story that gave me a little whiplash but in the end, I found it to be a satisfying novella that packed a nice little punch and a bit of steam as well. These two crossed paths again and again and if ever there were two people meant to be together, Dia and Marcus are it.

    This is my absolute favorite of this series so far and I really liked Grayson to that's saying something.

    Marcus and Dia have been thrown together multiple times, years apart, until they meet again and it finally sticks. You can tell from the first time that they met that they were going to be a great couple, but he did mess up when he lets an opportunity to see her again pass. He had a good reason, but he really dug himself a hole that I didn't think he was going to make it out of. In fact, they're thrown together so many times, in unexpected ways, that they should have just taken the hint and realized that fate intended them to be together.

    Never is Marcus a jerk about their near misses. He just continues to show her that he wants to be in her life and I loved his sweetness. He's so sexy, dedicated to his family and working hard at school, so I could forgive him some of the problems they had making their relationship work.

    Their first real date is hilarious. Every one of their encounters are memorable and will have you begging for this time to click and work everything out. This is low drama or angst, but that doesn't mean there isn't any feeling. This book has all the feelings.

    I can't wait for more of this series.

    Having read the two previous books in this series and loving them, I was happy to read about Marcus and Dia. In this prequel you finally get to know these two who have been the married couple among the group of friends.

    These two are positively hilarious, and Marcus is one swoony book boyfriend. It may have taken them four years to finally end up together, but fate wasn’t going to give up on getting these two together no matter the crazy obstacles put in their path. OMG their first official date was unbelievable!

    It was fabulous getting to see the Dia, Izzy, Lily, Maggie and Claire in their early days and how their friendship started. What a great supportive group of women.

    I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Looking forward to the next book in the series - Maggie and Colin have been simmering long enough, it’s time to turn up the heat on their relationship.

    I absolutely enjoyed this novella by Avery Samson. Fate and circumstances kept bringing Dia and Marcus together and once they realized that... things really developed within their relationship.

    This was a great short story. It was great to see how Dia and Markus got together. They had a long journey with a few bumps in the road but in the end they were just meant to be. A great addition to the Sideswiped series.

    Markus and Dia’s story was great! They were great together! It took a while and their journey had some bumps in it, but they were meant to be together. I loved this short story very much! Her’s To Take is a wonderful addition to the Sideswiped series!
