Holes In The Wall: A K9 Thriller Where Betrayal, Kidnapping, and Conspiracy Collide (Rex Dalton K9 Thrillers Book 11) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,335 ratings

A murder, a kidnapping, and a secret that could topple nations.

When the president of China dies suddenly of an alleged heart attack, few suspect foul play. But three months later, the warning signs begin—and Rex Dalton finds himself in the crosshairs.

First, a CIA disguise specialist who once helped Rex infiltrate Beijing is executed in her Virginia home. Within hours, Rex's closest allies, Josh and Marissa Farley, vanish without a trace. The kidnappers' message is brutally clear: back off or lose everything.

Back in China, a seemingly insignificant security breach—a cleaner pocketing candy from a general's office—connects to something far more sinister. What begins as a trivial theft unveils a hidden power structure with global implications—one prepared to plunge international markets into chaos.

With intelligence agencies compromised and time running out, Rex and his military-trained K9 partner, Digger, must use their unique skills to rescue the Farleys while uncovering evidence of a conspiracy that threatens to shake the world.

Holes in the Wall is the eleventh pulse-pounding installment in JC Ryan's bestsellingRex Dalton K9 Thrillersseries, where one man and his extraordinary dog face impossible odds.

Editorial Reviews

What readers are saying about the Rex Dalton Series:

Sheila LS - Top Contributor. Can't Read This Series Fast Enough!! I had no idea these books were so good when I first started or I would not have already downloaded other Kindle Unlimited books... I haven't read any series as exciting as Ty Patterson's Warrior series until now.

You really need to start reading this series from the beginning because what happened to Rex in this first book is what made him the way he is. He is a very determined person and does not stop at anything to take down the bad guys--especially if they are terrorist or if it is a group that is funding terrorist. Even though this is his main mindset, he still wants to protect the innocent that inadvertently get in the way...

Texas - This author belongs on the same shelf as Ludlum and Follette and those other guys! My first read by this author and I couldn't put the book down! Mesmerized by the writing style, the vivid descriptions and the storylines, I read without stopping. Fast paced, action packed and interesting on several facets.

Margaret Bentley - I love reading about Rex Dalton's exploits, but my favorite character has to be Digger, his military-trained super-intelligent dog.

Greg D - Rex Dalton was the deadliest agent the government had at their disposal- a one-man unstoppable force in the war on terrorism in the Middle East. With his famous ability to pick up new languages with ease, he figures he can blend into almost any culture and root out evil. What could go wrong? Well, it turns out, plenty.

E. I. HOOD - I was not a fan of the first Rex Dalton book but plunged ahead with the second hoping JC Ryan would not disappoint. I loved it. Now here I am after reading the third book in this series. I had a hard time putting it down and found myself wondering about it when I was not reading.

40 year pioneer - Each book in this series gets even better. This has a fascinating, even though hard to fathom, plot, worked out in intricate detail. Rex Dalton is a mirror of all of us - overcoming seemingly overwhelming odds to achieve great things.

Kindle Customer - From a master storyteller comes another thrilling ride by Rex Dalton. From the sands of Afghanistan to the culture of India the story moves at a breathless pace. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended.

Kindle Customer - Rex Dalton rocks! Another great read from JC Ryan. I've read all of his books and am never disappointed! All I can say is....MORE!

This was another intense and suspenseful story with extremely complex situations, and many more unexpected twists. This particular book had quite a bit more political aspects to it than the previous books. Although I absolutely enjoy reading thriller novels, I try to avoid any that include any and all types of political content. Admittedly, I skimmed over most of that part of the story, as I can not stand the hypocrisy of the politicians or the political views, no matter which country they are from. (Which sadly includes almost all of them these days) Overall, it was an enlightening, entertaining, as well as a scary story. We can only hope that most of it never happens.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and author.

Although I would normally deduct from the rating for a book that's ended with a cliffhanger, I completely understand why this book has. It's a long story that would not be able to be completed in one book, hence the cliffhanger. The great news is that the next book is already available, so there's no need to wait to read it.

Like another reviewer, the first book in the series left me wanting but I wanted to give author fair chance (and did not realize was the author of another series I loved). The Rex Dalton series has become my companion and I dread when it ends. Sometimes it drags, yeah as the observer...I have to hurry up and wait and sorry climaxes are subtle sometimes. Honestly I do like more roller coaster rides...but I live with it.

I love the series, eh building in the relationships...okay. Give me Digger but keep him safe. Regrettably I have been exposed to issues he has addressed by degrees of Kevin Bacon theory in a previous book. Thus this ongoing set of missions has my attention.

I try not to discuss plot etc or give spoilers. I will say this book is great read. But I did not like abrupt ending. Okay so you will continue in next book. My only problem as a series reader...all of the extraneous repetative verbiage that is regurgitated over and over...could all be addressed in a prologue and then write longer book. I mean you have spent sometimes almost 25 percent repeating and saying same thing. If a reader just picking up book..read prologue. Don't waste the lives of your dear fans. Just my two cents. Right now I am trying to skim or skip the superfulous, extraneous verbiage that has has now obviously become cut and paste process. But for those wondering...yes the series is great reading.

Weird spelling, words missing, etc are all a problem of the Amazon keyboard forvandroids (see). Just now keeps adding vs, deleting spacing etc. The assumptive spelling, stupid AI no matter how try, cannot turn off. And when press submit it alters. Right now keeps removing space and replacing with v. Somedays it is bs. It loves totally changing a word. Sorry if when press submit it goes haywire.

This outline for the expansion of communism via Chinese economic and military might coupled with cyber espionage on an almost inconceivable scale and research, shows to be frighteningly plausible. It even dovetails with the COVID pandemic and as always the memory fades all too rapidly and vigilance falters... This book will stay with you. Solid 5 + star read!

A continuation of the cleverly averted China virus fiasco (previous Rex Dalton novel, not the real Covid virus the whole world has been experiencing for nearly 3 years). This time it's China's revenge against the operatives who foiled that plan. Three of the US participants are kidnapped & tortured for information. Very quickly, Rex Dalton & his team of operatives set up a search & rescue mission for their friends/ colleagues. But that's only the tip of the iceberg. What follows is a roller coaster ride of that rescue mission & interception of intelligence info out of China. Well written, once again, nail biting plots that keep you reading long past bedtime! And gives one plenty of room to contemplate what China in the real world might be up to. Only criticism is that hints of previous stories/ character descriptions seem to be lifted word for word. A really minor criticism though. Bring on the next Rex Dalton!

Rex Dalton, Digger and crew find themselves struggling to plug the holes in the wall of Chinese world domination. An illiterate cleaner stumbles upon a top secret plan, a 100 year plan, of the Communist Chinese Party (PRC) to claim China's position of world control. The dramatic mystery reads in part more like a work of non-fiction weaving incredible details about known and suspected Chinese superiority. Once the master plan is revealed to the CIA through a top rated IT specialist in the Chinese Cyberware unit 61398, CRC becomes involved to thwart the execution of MK Plan and begins the second cold ware, barely avoiding the beginning of a certain hot World War III in which the use of nuclear weapons would assure no winners, but only survivors. An engrossing read for reader interested in military dramatic prose.

I consider myself as not a reader, but after looking for something to fill in a bit time I read “The Inca con” (which was about the fourth book in the series) I thoroughly enjoyed and proceeded to read all of the Rex Dalton books from the start. The story lines I find captivating and the technical aspects well explained to keep story rolling without getting bogged down at all. With history, geography and politics all very explained to make it all relevant. Holes in the wall was an amazing read which continued on nicely from The Shanghai Strain with a very nice lead into the next instalment “The Abyss “ which I’ve preordered and waiting for the release.
Well done JC keep up the good work. 5 big stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have just binge-read the whole Rex Dalton series. Impressed or what! A whirlwind of s series and I just can't wait for the next episode. J C Ryan has created a cast of characters that storm through the worlds of espionage, crime, violence and people that just won't take no for an answer. Accompanied, I might add, by my favourite fictional canine, the Chuck Norris of the Dog World, Digger! I miss you already, come back soon.
