Hudson's Luck: A Forever Wilde Novel Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 4,201 ratings

Hudson:

Don't ever accidentally propose to your girlfriend. In front of her family. Especially if her dad is your boss. Because when you make it clear you've made a mistake, he's likely to send you out of the country to get you as far away from his broken-hearted daughter as possible. It happened to me. Now I'm stuck in Ireland trying to redeem myself so I can get promoted and have the life I've planned for: successful career, loving wife and kids, a comfortable, financially-secure home life in Texas.

But all of that seems to evaporate the moment I walk into the historic pub and see the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Only, he's not a woman.

Charlie Murray is most definitely a man—the kind of man who causes me to take a second look for the first time in my life. And a third look, and fourth. I can't help but want to get to know him better... to get close to him, touch him, maybe even kiss him. But I'm straight. Or so I've always thought. Even if I'm not, how in the world could a feisty Irishman ever fit into the safe, predictable life I've always planned for?

Charlie:

Don't ever accidentally fall for the straight guy. Especially when he's trying to pry your family's business right out from under you. I should know. Because when Hudson Wilde walks into my family's pub and begins babbling so adorably, I can't help but fall just a little bit in love. But I'm looking for Forever Man, and the sexy American is certainly not him. He's so confused about what he wants, even choosing something from the dinner menu throws him into a fuddle. But those eyes... how can I resist?

So maybe I’ll give in. One steamy night before he heads home and I go back to life at the pub. We'll never see each other again.

Until, of course, his business deal sends me to Hobie, Texas, right into the middle of Hudson's steady life, more gay Wildes than can fit on a dance floor, and an ex-girlfriend who may or may not be content remaining an ex. But the more time I spend with Hudson, the more I think he might be my Forever Man after all. And I may be his. Is it possible we could both be so lucky?

Hudson's Luck is the fourth book in the Forever Wilde series but can be read on its own. Beware it includes 93k words of delicious man parts touching, grandfathers meddling, neighbors nosy-ing, dogs fornicating, cats being cats, horses... ah, crunching apples? or something... and one very flirty Stevie.

Our concept of ourselves, and our concept of the world is not always fixed or accurate. Change is hard to welcome. But, when it is wrapped up in “Irish”, it can be a concept altering worthwhile journey. And the “luck”, is a dream come true. Great series to follow, and well worth reading…Hudson’s part of the story. Saint is next, and I can’t wait.

Summary: When Hudson gets sent to Ireland to assess a pub as a possible investment, he doesn’t expect to meet the man of his dreams—largely because he’s never been attracted to a man before. Charlie’s not expecting to meet his Forever Man either. Things are complicated not just because Hudson lives in Texas and Charlie lives in Ireland, but because Charlie’s not on board with the changes this investment will entail. All that combined with Hudson’s uncertain feelings about his newly flexible sexuality and an ex-girlfriend hanging around make for relationship confusion.

‘“You’re really beautiful,” I told him, reaching out to tuck the fallen hair behind his ear. “My brothers would love you.” His eyes widened in surprise. “Your brothers?” I nodded, which made my head spin. “But they can’t have you.” Charlie’s smile was slow and sexy as hell. “Why not, Hudson? Why can’t they have me?” “Because you’re… you’re mine.”’

‘“How’s your boo?” I felt my cheeks tighten with a big grin. “Gorgeous. Sexy. Mine.” Stevie’s eyes widened. “Good for you, McSassafras. ’Bout time you claimed him for real. That man’s a snack.” Instead of growling at him, I grinned even more. “A serious snack. Tasty and sweet and sometimes even deliciously salty.”’

Review: 4.4 stars--Okay one of the things I enjoyed most about this book was the way being with Charlie and opening up to him and a relationship with him set Hudson free—making him more relaxed, more confident, and setting free his sense of humor. Even though there was a part of me that wanted to slap them both for working so hard to not be together, I did appreciate how working together but not being a couple really gave them time to get to know each other so that when they finally do come together, we know that they really are well suited to each other. And I just love that once Hudson gets over himself, he’s not hesitant or shy or nervous around his friends and family—he unabashedly claims Charlie as if it’s no big deal, as if he and everyone else had known he was queer this whole time.

I know reviews are supposed to be for potential readers, but after 14 novels and a few short stories I'd like to speak directly to the author on this one, but if you bear with me I hope to answer you, the readers, wonderings about Hudson's Luck too.

Dear Lucy, almost two years ago I had the honor and privilege of reading an arc of your first story Borrowing Blue. I don't have the words to say how grateful I am that I took a chance on a new author. I don't remember exactly what my circumstances were at the time but I remember that things in my life were rough. I also remember because of that, and despite it, that Borrowing Blue was able to completely suck me in and captivate me. When I had no attention span or focus and I kept dwelling on and being pulled down by my situation, Blue and Tristan managed to distract me when no one else could. They held my attention, they literally made me laugh out loud, they put a ridiculous smile on my face the whole time and made my cheeks sore the next day, they wormed their way into my heart and made me feel all kinds of feels, and they introduced me to one of my favorite authors. An author who tells fun, creative, sweet, funny, sexy, lovable, all the feels, easy to read stories.

That was the first book and the beginning of an amazing almost two years of reading. One of my, and I think probably a lot of readers, biggest fears when falling in love with not just a book but an author, is that fear of being let down. Of the stories running out of steam, or of growing apart. I've never once been let down. Every single story has been a perfect and completely fulfilling experience. From Borrowing Blue to now Hudson's Luck. Hudson and Charlie, just like Blue and Tristan, carried me away from the cares of my life. Helped me forget for just a little while. Put a big, stupid grin on my face. Made my already full heart of Lucy Lennox men, a bit fuller with two new additions. There are other authors I also adore, but the one hundred percent absolute truth is that there is not one single other author whose writing has had the same effect on me. To be able to lift someone's spirits, put a smile on their face, give them something to daydream about even a week or more after the fact, to not only give them sweet, lovable, funny characters to enjoy, but also interesting stories and new interests piqued. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart thank you for your stories. Thank you for the gift of having the only thing I'm worried about for the moment being trying to decide if Charlie and Hudson now have a bigger piece of my heart than the others or if I love all of my Lucy Lennox book boyfriends the same. Either way, they're all very much adored.

Did I fall in love? Absolutely. So much yes! Especially Charlie. I dare anyone not to fall in love with Charlie :D

Would I re-read Hudson's Luck? Again absolutely. I would and have re-read many of these stories.

Were there moments- sad, funny, sweet, fantasy fueling- that I replay? So. Many.

Hudson and Charlie *sigh* Charlie and Hudson *sigh* You know when you read a story and you know that the characters in that story are just going to stay with you forever, this is one of those stories. It truly blows my mind that an author can consistently write stories where the characters are believeable, loveable and most importantly memorable. Hudson is honest, giving, lovable, a true family man and the only straight man in his family, or so he thought. Charlie is a quite often mistaken for a woman esp from behind with his long red hair and small figure, but he is all man and out and proud. I truly enjoyed the journey these two men took to there HEA which had a few bumps in the road. I freakin loved seeing Aunt Tilly ( still want to be her when I grow up) Irene and Granny make a guest appearance along with the other Wilde men. This is definitely going in my reread folder.

Ich hätte echt gerne ein Bild von Charlie gesehen, so wie die Autorin ihn sich vorstellt. Das muss ein Hübscher sein.

Lennox nails the straight guy goes gay in this one and as usual she complete shifts locales and brings in characters that aren’t the typical North American norm to do it. Loved every word, twist and turn.

Wow. That was just *chefs kiss*

I can’t believe how much I laughed out loud, blushed, and cringed at this book. I started before bed thinking I’d read 1-4 chapters but I couldn’t stop and soon I was at chapter 24 out of 46 (plus epilogue and deleted scenes). From the awkward, nervous babbling of Hudson, to Charlie’s puns this is a book you don’t want to miss!

I hadn’t read any of the Wilde brothers series before but I need to read all of them. I need to know each story…. So, that’s another series added to my tbbatbr (to be bought and to be read) pile - I’d feel guilty if it hadn’t been so good.

The story itself was immersive and well written. Throughout I suffered second hand embarrassment, face palm moments I swear I’ve lived as I spoke to my now husband when we met - I still babble nonsense at him even after 16 years!

I loved how the author wrote about Hudson’s dilemma and frustration. Gah, I just LOVED the whole book! My recommendation? Read it. Now. Go and enjoy 🤩
