    Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
    Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
    Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.

    Michael Fowler is a gifted writer who first brought us the character of the fictional Detective Sergeant Hunter Kerr in 2012.

    'Hunted' was finally published after a four year hiatus from the previous Hunter story 'Shadow of the Beast' which ended on a cliffhanger with the tragic death of a regular character.

    'Hunted' is actually a sequel to the second story in the series - 'Cold Death'. The violent Scottish gangster Billy Wallace escapes from prison and is hell bent on murdering Hunter's father Jock, to finally settle the score that began many years ago in Glasgow.

    'Hunted' sees the whole Hunter family decamp to the tiny Channel Island of Sark where most of the story is set. Michael has developed a good understanding of the small community of Sark which has limited facilities and no motor vehicle usage.

    For me 'Hunted' had a very basic plot that sees the central characters embrace a new environment in a seemingly claustrophobic setting. It's fair to say that once the plot is underway you know Billy Wallace is going to track the Hunters down before the end.

    Without spoiling the outcome, I found the climax to 'Hunted' was maybe a little predictable and perhaps disappointing in some respects. Michael Fowler has padded out a simple tale into a slow burning affair of tension and suspense - creating Wallace as Bogeyman that nightmares are made of. You know he is hiding in the shadows somewhere waiting to strike.

    Although it works well and is an enjoyable read, 'Hunted' is probably the weakest in the Hunter series. That's not to say it is bad book, because it isn't. I've therefore given it four stars on this occasion.

    I thoroughly enjoy the Hunter Kerr books by Michael Fowler and this is the best one so far! Set on the Island of Sark, this change of location brings an expected dimension to the story. A great read. i look forward to the next adventure!

    A serial killer is after Hunter & his family so they try hiding out on the island of Sark, things soon start to go amiss.
