An Imperfect Christmas: A heart-warming holiday romance (Honeyford Romantic Holiday Reads) Kindle Edition
How do you pick yourself up when everything is falling apart…?
Twenty-five-year-old Maggie Green thought she had her life on the perfect track: a long-term relationship, a successful career in finance and a swanky apartment in London.
But then everything falls apart.
The company she has worked so hard for makes her redundant, and she gets dumped on the same day.
Not to mention the worrying call she’s received from her doctor.
With her pride in tatters, Maggie returns to her family home for the Christmas period. A home she hasn’t returned to for two years.
No one knows the real reason why she hasn’t been back. No one, that is, except the one person who she is most nervous about seeing again.
Will Maggie make peace with her past? Can she find love this Christmas?
Or will more obstacles be thrown in her way…?
An Imperfect Christmas is a contemporary festive romance set in the English countryside. This charming holiday read is perfect for cozy winter nights.

About the author

Tanya Jean Russell writes romantic suspense and lives in England. She is married to an amazing Elvis & Neil Diamond Tribute artist, thanks to whom she has a house full of jumpsuits & trophies. Something which is, of course, a source of much embarrassment to her two teenage children.
She is a little obsessive about books and has an embarrassingly huge (and ever growing) pile of things that she just 'has' to read next to her bed. Something that isn't helped by being a part of the Romantic Novelist Association, or by being published by the amazing Evernight Publishing. With both organisations filled with talented writers, she keeps adding to her pile!
Tanya Jean squeezes her daydreaming ... ahem ... 'writing' around her family and her day job in HR, and is convinced that chocolate & diet coke should be considered a well-balanced diet.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2020A terrific romance with the right amount of drama, angst, and happy. A truly enjoyable Christmas romance with the promise of getting to see the characters again.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2021This was a sweet Christmas romance book. It was wholesome, had a great warm family feel to it, and it was just homey and sweet. It's exactly the kind of book people would want to be reading around Christmas time because although there was a health scare and some sad moments, it was uplifting and lovely. An Imperfect Christmas follows Maggie Green as she travels home for the holidays after a triple whammy of life changing news. She returns home to the sister that raised her, the close family friends that she grew up with and her first love. Over the course of the holidays she navigates all her life changing events as her past catches up with her present and in the end she needs to decide if she wants the life she's always wanted or the life she thought she always needed to have.
Maggie's life was difficult and sad and she worked hard to make a better life for herself and to try and provide for her sister and niece. In doing so, however, she kind of lost herself and who she truly was. It took her finally coming home to come to terms with everything but it was the necessary wake up call she needed to live a genuinely happy life. Nathan Parker was Maggie's closest friend growing up and was the only person she ever truly loved until his rejection set her down a walled off and lonely path. Although she somewhat moved on with her life, the walls she built, the changes she made to fit in, and the false truths she told herself to protect her heart made it difficult for Maggie to give Nathan a second chance. It took Nathan having his own personal revelation of his feelings and about his feelings in the past to own up to his mistakes to Maggie and finally give her enough of himself to finally be forgiven and for them to move on to better and happier things.
The family and Christmas setting just exuded so much warmth and love. It was definitely something that I always enjoy in a book! The closeness of the family, the small town setting, and just the fact that they had that childhood connection just really helped the book along. With everything Maggie had been through and everything she was currently going through with her health, she deserved happiness. I like the way the book ended, with her childhood hopes and dreams coming true. The book wasn't too heavy, it had its sad and heartbreaking points but the book was still light, warm and Christmassy. I would easily recommend this to fellow romance readers.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2021It seemed that the wounds in the soul, inflicted by the past, would never heal and forever cross out the possibility of falling in love again, letting a person into your life, trusting him and experiencing incredible happiness. That all seemed impossible until a handsome man, a tv-star, and just a new neighbor, who had to recover from betrayal and heal his wounds in a quiet village, far from the noisy life in London, burst into her life.
Tess is a beautiful young widow, has a son, runs a bakery and produces delicious cakes and pies, helps everyone she can help. After her husband's death, she gave up the idea that she could ever love again.
Sam is a famous artist who has his own tv show, a rude but handsome man at the first sight. He arrived in the village, where he met Tess, an obsessive woman, a mad fan who followed on his heels.
Was that so? Or was he wrong?
A beautiful love story, warm and sweet like honey. An amazing Christmas read showing that no need to look back, hold on to the past, much better to give the future a chance to change the life and let go of the past, whatever it may be.
I would recommend the book to everyone who loves beautiful love stories and light Christmas reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good
A good read, uplifting story but too long, sometimes repeatitive. Otherwise good. People leave was explained really well. One cannot run away from this fact and stop living fully.

4.0 out of 5 stars A sweet as sugar quick read romance.
A warm hug of a story to read when it's Christmas time with the fire glowing and a mug of something warm.
Syrup sweet and predictable, but an enjoyable quick romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Imperfect Christmas by Tanya Jean Russell
An uplifting storyline that tugged at my heart. The book opens well, straight into the dilemma facing Maggie. Immediately, the reader can empathise with her. I was hooked from page one. Alongside an unexpected medical problem, Rupert dumps her on the day she discovers she has been made redundant. Maggie goes home - where she meets Luke, her childhood sweetheart. But he left her once - and she believes he will do so again. She feels she can't trust him. Or, indeed, anyone! Then Rupert tracks her down, wanting her back. Can Maggie trust his motives? The twists in the plot kept me guessing.
