THE JODE: Part 2: Awakenings Reckoning Kindle Edition

5.0 out of 5 stars 9 ratings

Various awakenings manifest themselves as Gen. Ygl of the Lorel Elves and the Party of the Jode battle evil forces trying to undermine continental Zaendara's peace. Some awakenings are mental flashbacks (memorials) forcing the afflicted to question their threatened existence and themselves. And so, the Party is created to hopefully retrieve the elusive Jode that will stop the evil god Xurchon and Emperor Rondo's deranged plans and answer these reckonings, adding two unlikely members.

Part of Rondo and Xurchon's plan is to retrieve Ygl's broadsword, Demonslayer (aka Welbern). And so, the successful Death Mist is sent to retrieve it and conquer more Zaendaran estates. Twists and turns surprise the struggling Jode Seekers as more truths and mysteries are revealed.

And, war looms... from the Giants’ scented plantations to the Ogres’ stony empire.

Will they rise above their revelations or drown in the deluge?

If you’re a fan of Deborah Harkness’s “Shadow of Night” and “The Book of Life,” you'll love this dark adventure.

"The plotting is exciting and well crafted. The novel’s established world is comfortable alongside fantasy contemporaries and inspirations but stands on its own as an original concept." ~ The BookLife Prize.

"In terms of plot, this is top-notch. There's a lot going on here from the very first chapter. Is it much different from many fantasy books? In many ways, yes... There's a lot to get on top of here from the complexity of the characters to the complexity of the fantasy world the author has invented so meticulously." ~ The Wishing Shelf

*Reviewed By Rabia Tanveer for Readers’ Favorite:*

The Jode: Part 1: Gen. Ygl & the Genie by Mr. PJ Selarom is a fantasy novel that can be enjoyed by readers of any age. This story is woven in a way that makes it enjoyable for teenagers, Young Adult fiction enthusiasts or even older readers who enjoy good fantasy fiction. I loved it and enjoyed it immensely because it is a well-developed story with strong characters that just make reading this novel even more entertaining.

Life is not easy, especially for General Ygl, a man of witty retorts and great efforts. The Inner Earth is a beautiful place where different ideologies thrive together and General Ygl of the Lorel Elves enjoys his time there. The people living in Inner Earth might be different from one another in more ways than one, but they enjoy the peace and tranquility that they have. However, when their peaceful existence is threatened by Emperor Rondo and Xurchon, the god of evil, the people know that they must unite as one to fight against it all to survive. General Ygl, Flower Juna and a chosen few can truly help the people and ensure that they survive and exist as they want. But how can a handful of people fight against the likes of a god and an emperor?

Told from the perspective of two very different beings, the story grabs the attention of the reader from the beginning. You want to know more about the Inner Earth because of the way the author writes about it. You want to know how their dialects came to be and how every single character is living in this vast and well-built universe. I enjoyed how impressive the narrative was and how vividly the imagery came across. I was transported into the Inner Earth and I walked beside Ygl and the rest of the crew. This is simply an amazing and wonderful novel.

I thoroughly enjoyed Part 2 of The Jode as much as Part 1. My favorite characters are still Ygl, Kute and Ding. I must say that the inclusion of the Main Characters and Divinity pages is a great idea and quite helpful. Definitely the author has a lot of imagination and visualization using so many different characters in so many different places. All I can say is well done!!! Can't wait to read Part 3!!!!

    Mind-Blowing Twists

A very unique story. I loved it! The characters in this book are definitely presented in such a stylistic way that they present a more projective impact than any fantasy story. This isn't a kid's story! The characters are very humanistic and project very human attitudes. A lot of dimensions to them. Prince Kute's personality displayed how unity can be the main factor in fortifying a solid defense. Ygl's telepathy was amazing against any opposition. You'd need to read the book to know what I'm talking about. I could feel myself right in the story's environment and being swept by the characters whose urgent militancy made them heroes. They strove to defend their continent. I admired their loyalty. I loved Kute. He was very positive despite the adverse circumstances. Very good characters. Superb battle scenes.
    Hooray, Mr. Selarom!
