Jailbreak: A space opera adventure (The Ungovernable Book 2) Kindle Edition
Breaking into one of the most secure prison planets in the system isn’t the hard part. The hard part is going to be getting back out again.
They just pulled off the heist of the century. Now ex-smuggler pilot Jez and the motley crew of the Ungovernable have a promise to keep: an extraction from a high-security political prison. But the timeline for the rescue is shorter than they ever imagined, and if they want to save their target from certain death, they’ll have to go in blind—no specs, no intel, no time to prepare, and only the skeleton of a plan. And between prison gangs, murderous guards, and a vicious warden, extracting their target might be the least of their worries.
Jailbreak is the second book in R.M. Olson’s science fiction space opera series The Ungovernable. With a crazy, close-knit crew, plenty of humour, and loads of action, Firefly meets Ocean’s Eleven in this fast-paced, kick-ass, wickedly fun series.

About the author

R.M. Olson writes feel-good space opera featuring diverse casts, found families, and loads of action. R.M. has ridden the Trans Siberian railway, jumped off the highest bungee jump in the world, gone cage-diving with great white sharks, faced down a charging buffalo bull, and knows how to milk a goat. Currently they reside in Alberta, Canada with their four children, three cats, and a dog the size of a small bear. R.M. goes hiking and skiing more often than they probably have time for, eats more chocolate than is probably good for them, and reads more books than is probably prudent.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2024The story grows, and the stakes get higher. Excellent character growth both through their getting familiar with each other and having to depend on each other in high stakes lock down. It's a good build book, getting to see more of the characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2023I enjoyed this well edited book so much that I'm off to obtain the next-in-series with thanks that there is a next!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2024This time the Ungovernable crew break into jail to rescue Ysbel’s wife and 2 children. It is one of the most secure prison planets in the system, so getting back out again is going to be a problem. It is not a pleasant experience, especially for Jez, who can’t seem to keep her mouth shut and gets punished for it often by an especially brutal guard. They finally come up with somewhat of a plan, but then it all goes sideways and it seems like all is lost. The finale is full of action, surprises, and ends with things turning out just the way I hoped they would, and with the crew closer than ever. I look forward to reading the rest of the series to see what this crew gets up to next.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2023So far I've read five books in the series and this one remains my favorite one. Love the characters and the dilemma and how they all come together to save the day. Good read
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2022I was waiting for this story as soon as Lev told Ysbel that her family was still alive, but imprisoned. Definitely worth the read. I think I liked this book even better than the first. Good character development, relationships, action, and fighting against the system. I loved the colorful new characters especially Ysbel and Tanya's daughter Olya! I can't wait to read the next book!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2021Second story is as good or better than the first. Awesome to find out that the mass murderer has a heart. Excellent growth on the crew. Starting to become a family!y. A very distinction am family, but a family.
Looking for the next chapter already.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2020This author is particularly good at keeping each of her character’s voices clear and distinct. She also created a prison break story that circumvents a lot of tropes and keeps you guessing. Great read!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2020Great world and team building. Never thought I'd get behind kids breaking out of jail, but this one did it for me.
