Slavery is a hot topic, right now, with the removal of the Confederate flag from the state house in S.C. The wonderful thing about books is that they can teach children about other countries, their histories and their cultures, before they've even had a chance to go there. This book talks about a rebellion in Jamaica that is little known and seldom described in American schools. However, it's just the backdrop for the main emphasis of this story. It's really a tale about a group of animals, led by a tiny insect. They encounter a villain , who snatches away their freedom. Through great bravery and self-sacrifice, the heroine triumphs. So, rest assured, your children will...rest assured.

    Hello,

I am having a hard time writing this review. I signed up and created a password and was not able to write it. Here it is. Please put it on Amazon for me. Thank you.

Peewee the Ladybug and the Jamican Freedom Jamboree, a treat for lovers of Mystery. The reader sees History Come Alive as Lady Bug and the eight animals clearly depicts what it is like to live in the past. The characters helps us to understand the true meaning of commitment, determination and courage. Dr. Edwards has written a book that will capture the hearts and minds of the Young and Old all over the world. I strongly recommend this piece of literature.

I had the chance to do an early read of this book and I truly enjoyed it! The story has a wonderful set of characters and an even better lesson. While the topic of slavery is present in the book, it's more focused on a little ladybug who -- despite her size -- is able to inspire her animal friends, overcome an evil man's plot to take away their freedom, and live happily ever after in their forest. I think kids will love it even more than I did, Annmarie did a great job!
