3.9 out of 5 stars 3 ratings

Finish the story that Ancient Resurgence: Daniel's Story started. Greed and the insatiable lust for blood lead to the disappearance of a civilization. Arrogance and the disregard for a dire warning gave way to the disappearance of all civilization. And that is the world I live in. The luxuries of college and even other living beings was taken away. We survive, but at some point that is not enough. What would it take to leave for a rumor of safety, or even the possibility to save the world?

    Format: Paperback
I enjoyed the premise of this story (definitely a unique take on the classic zombie type story) but the writing was still a bit rough. It was leaps and bounds better than Daniel’s Story but could still have used some fleshing out. It’s almost like individual scenes were thought out and detailed (and fantastic!) and then anything connecting the scenes was just kind of thrown in. The characters were also pretty flat. I would say this is a story that is a fun read but as it stands editing wise it still needs some work to reach its potential. 😬

This second book of the Ancient Resurgence series follows John and what happens after the “zombie apocalypse”. He meets up with Daniel, the main character from the first book, as they try to navigate through their dystopian world, and hopefully end the cause of the zombie pandemic.

I found this book to be very entertaining. While it could definitely use a round of editing, I still enjoyed reading the book. I was invested in the character’s stories, and really interested in seeing how everything was going to play out. Overall, despite the editing issues, I thought this book was fun to read.

If you’re looking for some short, fun dystopian “zombie” books, I recommend this one and the first one, Ancient Resurgence Daniel’s story.

This book is written with adults as the main characters, but the level or writing, and lack of most curse words, leads itself towards more of a middle school feel. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

This is the main book, but there is another one that spotlights one of the main characters that appears in this book, so if you want to know his back story then you need to read the other "ancient resurgence" which I would suggest because that book is also really good.

So this story follows a character from a small town who is a witness to the beginning of the fall of civilization in Oregon. Realizing that he has to leave everything in hopes of finding salvation, he does just that, and his trip is not without issues. Upon what he believes is salvation he is met with who he suspected the least to be there.

This story has some brief fighting, and one 'fade to black' romantic scenes. Nothing gory or graphic at all.

Overall I think that for a new author this is a good story and I look forward to watching them develop in the future.
