Review

Make no mistake about it, "Justice Burning," is unlike most other romances you'll find on the market today. While this story is a bonafide genre romance (with the kind of ending that delights romance fans), it reads like the most captivating action/mystery/adventures.
Honestly, I was not ready for the unfolding of this romance. The story opens like a Lee Child or David Baldacci action mystery. I was four chapters into the story, totally enjoying the expedience, when it occurred to me: 'shouldn't there be a heroine in here somewhere?'
Of course, as soon as it occurred to me that this was not a stock-genre romance opening, where the hero and heroine 'must' meet on the first page, presto: the heroine appears!
And what a heroine! I just fell in love with her.
I found that,"Justice Burning," delivered both mainstream excitement and unpredictability along with all the warm feelings you expect in a genre romance.
By 'mainstream' I mean genuine 'mainstream' elements. For example, there are at least four different points of view. That means there are scenes in which the hero and/or heroine do not appear. I've read over 1,500 romances and this is not typical in the standard romance novel. In fact, having scenes in which the two main characters don't appear allows the author to create a much richer reading experience. The writing in this full-bodied novel is much truer to real life than usually found in limited two person only POV fiction. I felt this difference right away because I read a lot of romances and mainstream fiction.
Also, in "Justice Burning", the plot is superbly worked out with a firm foundation for future developments that play fair with the reader and allow the story to end without any loose ends. The writing style is a refreshing delight to read. The author has a crisp new voice that I am sure will be enjoyed by her many new fans to come who will want to experience her fuller, less predictable, romantic reading experiences. At least, this has been my experience.
Wonderful book. I look forward to many more like this one!
I could not be happier that of all the books I could have bought (the cover captured my attention), I bought this one.

Appreciated the Christian attitude of the story. Somewhat predicable with surprise suspects.

I absolutely loved this book! It grabbed my interest from the very beginning and kept it the whole way through! It had suspense, some cute comedy, sweet romance, and Christian insights. April did a very good job researching topics so the reader could tell she knew what she was talking about regarding specific details. I marveled at the wisdom of the author with different life topics. I was very sad when the book ended and will definitely read April Erwin's other books and look forward to many more to come.

Once again author April Erwin has managed to write an exceptional book that jeeps one laughing and totally engaged. This book was very well written and totally engaging, filled with memorable characters and witty dialogue. I loved the main characters in this book and was very sad when I reached the final pages. She adds such depth and spirits to her characters that they real seem real and it makes me sad that they are not.
Top notch book written by a budding author. I look forward to her next book!

Justice Burning is a Christian based romantic suspense about an arsonist in a small town. Not to heavy on romance, the story is more about the search for a local fire-bug than it is the love story between two wounded hearts that are reluctant to try again. I found the dialog between the main characters realistic, in the sense of two people that just meet and are getting to know each other while struggling with a strong, albeit unwanted attraction.   I felt that the romantic subplot was pretty muted, so this is definitely more of a suspense read than a romance. While the romance was very realistic, it didn't stand out in the book in my opinion.

The investigation into a string of fires that get bigger and bigger over the course of the book takes the lead here. We have a fire investigator recovering from the loss of his wife years before, leaning on his family and his work to make it day to day. Then you have the sweet counselor, new in town and helping not only kids in the local junior high, but dealing with her own issues as well as assisting in figuring out who is setting these fires.  It was well written and true to life.  Real emotions were explored with a realism that drew me into the hearts of these two characters.

I figured out the ending early on in the book, so when it came down to who was actually doing it, it came as no surprise to me.  Having said that, it doesn't mean much because I've been told that I figure out the ending to most movies and books I read, so it's actually pretty hard to surprise me.

The only issue that I had with this story was the mental illness aspect. I can't say much without giving away spoilers, but I felt that it could have been explored more in depth and the character could have been more realistic. However, don't let that stop you from picking this book up. I enjoyed reading it,  and this isn't the first book by this author I've read and I will be reading more from her in the future.

Oh my, I loved this book! The beginning took me completely by surprise as didn’t open with the main characters, but instead with the inner thoughts of an arsonist. Miss Erwin captivated my attention right away and held it through the entire story.

It was obvious that Miss Erwin did her research and truly understood the topic of fire fighting, arson investigation, and graphology. She worked this into the story without it being analytical or boring.

Even though there is romance in this book, it takes a “backseat” to the mystery. Which makes this a fantastic book for guys and gals. I highly recommend this book!

This is a great story for those who like Christian-themed novels.

The plot grips you right from the start with sinister thoughts from the fire Master and keeps you guessing as to his identity to the end.

The love developing between two grieving people gives insights into their doubts and fears. At the mainstay of the plot, the family’s' deep belief In God keeps them fortified and united.

Good, strong writing carries the reader into this tense novel and leaves them with a sense of satisfaction.
