The Kit Carson Scout: The Special Forces Squad has been sent to Cambodia (Vietnam Ground Zero Military Thrillers Book 6) Kindle Edition
The Special Forces squad become VC bait…
Vietnam, 1966
Something big is brewing on the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
U.S. Special Forces Captain Mack Gerber and his men have orders to conduct a patrol into Cambodia to monitor the Trail.
It’s a cross-border sneak-and-peek into neutral territory that contravenes the rules of war, and with a recent court-martial fresh in his mind, Gerber is suspicious.
Even more unusual is the request to take along a Kit Carson – a Viet Cong defector – as their scout.
But can she be trusted, or do they now have an enemy agent in their midst?
And with a power-hungry Army General in charge of the operation, will Gerber’s Special Forces squad fulfil their mission and escape the leach-infested swamps of the Cambodian jungle?
Or are they being led into a deadly trap?
THE KIT CARSON SCOUT is the sixth book in the Vietnam: Ground Zero series: action-packed, authentic historical thrillers following an American Special Forces Squad as they fight to survive during the brutal Vietnam War.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2009This June, 1987, issue was number 6 in approximately 3 dozen books from GOLD EAGLE on Vietnam. All were fiction but held great grains of truth, as Don Pendleton stated: "Vietnam at ground zero is where this book is written, I recommend it!".
The title explains quite a lot about the book, moving under special orders, orders signed by General Westmoreland, Special Forces Captain Mack Gerber and his special forces green berets are directed to enter Cambodia accompanied by a 'Kit Carson Scout'. As far as they know, they will cross the forbidden border sub rosa to only listen and fact find, not to get into fire fights. Their passing is to go undetected. Yeah, right!
The Kit Carson scout was an individual who had changed sides from fighting against South Vietnamese forces to now fight along side them against the VC or NVA. Since this individual was seen as a past 'traitor' of sorts it was hard to place complete trust in them. Were they now with you or still against you? Could you count on them to side you during a fire fight, or would they 'di di mau'. cut and run? Just where did their loyalty reside? Only time could tell. The Kit Carson scout in this book is a young female, Brouchard Bien Soo Ta Emilie, a 5 foot 2 inch part Vietnamese, part French, combat trained woman. She will be called either Emilie or 'Kit', most often 'Kit'. Gerber and his small force must not only place complete trust in her but will need follow her directions as she is the sole owner of knowledge of the area in Cambodia where they are to go. She can be the difference between life and death for all of them. As they are to later discover she is not working for them at all but for herself and the CIA.
While I've found all VIETNAM: GROUND ZERO books to be good, this is the best so far. The book just draws you in and doesn't let up until the final pages. This is also a longer book than most of the others with somewhat smaller print allowing more content. This book will stay with a reader for some time after the book is finished. As Pendleton said, I recommend this book to all GOLD EAGLE readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseTesting times for Gerber. Kit is an ex VC girl who has come over to the South, and is working as a scout. Are they to trust her, or will she lead them into a trap? Another exciting adventure for the group, or is it higher up the chain of command that thinks Gerber and his Green Berets expendable?? Read to find out, hard to put down as you creep silently through the jungle with the team.
