4.6 out of 5 stars 369 ratings

For eons uncounted the Dragon Queen has waited for the one who will free her. Now a child has been born.

Jarryd has been haunted by visions since he was a small child, terrifying scenes of the Dragon Queen and her demons slaughtering the innocent.

Visions he must keep secret, lest the village priest burn him and his family at the stake for consorting with evil.

Lonely and outcast, Jarryd lives in fear that the smallest lapse will seal his fate and deliver his soul to the Dragon Queen.

When he comes of age, a terrible change comes upon him. A strange power begins to manifest in him, a power that can only come from the Queen.

With no other choices, he sets off alone on a desperate quest to find answers before it’s too late.

The Dragon Queen of Chaos is the third series in the Chaos Legacy, following Immortality and Chaos (I) and Chaos and Retribution (II).

Born in 1965, the author grew up on a working cattle ranch in the desert thirty miles from Wickenburg, Arizona, which at that time was exactly the middle of nowhere. Work, cactus and heat were plentiful, forms of recreation were not. The TV got two channels when it wanted to, and only in the evening after someone hand cranked the balky diesel generator to life. All of which meant that his primary form of escape was reading.

At 18 he escaped to Tucson where he attended the University of Arizona. A number of fruitless attempts at productive majors followed, none of which stuck. Discovering he liked writing, the author tried journalism two separate times, but had to drop it when he realized that he had no intention of conducting interviews with actual people but preferred simply making them up.

After graduating with a degree in Creative Writing in 1989, he backpacked Europe with a friend and caught the travel bug. With no meaningful job prospects, he hitchhiked around the U.S. for a while then went back to school to learn to be a high school English teacher. He got a teaching job right out of school in the middle of the year. The job lasted exactly one semester, or until he received his summer pay and realized he actually had money to continue backpacking.

The next stop was Australia, where he hoped to spend six months, working wherever he could, then a few months in New Zealand and the South Pacific Islands. However, his plans changed irrevocably when he met a lovely Swiss woman, Claudia, in Alice Springs. Undoubtedly swept away by his lack of a job or real future, she agreed to allow him to follow her back to Switzerland where, a few months later, she gave up her job to continue traveling with him. Over the next couple years they backpacked the U.S., Eastern Europe and Australia/New Zealand, before marrying and settling in the mountains of Colorado, in a small town called Salida.

In Colorado they starved and froze, started their own electronics business, and had a couple of sons, Dylan and Daniel. In 2005 they shut the business down and moved back to Tucson. The author is currently writing madly and trying to avoid all forms of actual work.

This first book in the Dragon Queen of Chaos series starts you off with little Jarryd and a terrible thing he endures. How he can live with it is hard to say but that very thing is what endears us (the readers, or 'stalkers from afar' – tomayto, tomawto) to him and has us yearning for more of the weary yet dauntless young man as he finds the one thing that may help him through the turmoil he is going through. Well maybe not the ONE thing. There is a lass as well and that always complicates things but you'll have to read the story for yourselves to find out more and I absolutely love a certain surly old man he meets and I’m positive you will too. Hard not to!

Then we have the amazing actions scenes Mr. Knight has in The Knights of Dragonwatch that get your heart pumping and the magic systems that are unique to this particular authors mad genius mind, that keep you on the edge of whatever you happen to be sitting in. Truly engaging fight scenes with memorable characters are a great combo to have you drooling for what comes next. I absolutely love the a certain surly character he meets and I’m positive you will too. Hard not to!

Now for that bad...I've finished this book and I need more! I feel like a man in the desert who has just finished his lone water skin and my literary mouth is dryer than a dead Dingo's backside. Yeah I need the next one.

If you like wonderful characters full of life, humor and grit. And action that hits like a jet powered sling shot to lead you on a tempest like trek through a very real feeling world then you are in the right place, for The Knights of Dragonwatch is the jackpot of Epic Fantasy for 2020!

I'm now on book four and it's hard to stop reading, even when I know I'll need to get up for work.
This is good, solid, traditional fantasy. Well written phrases and good grammar allow you to experience the story and forget you're reading. The character development is excellent, the protagonists likeable, the morality traditional, and the plot engaging. This may belong in the "masterpiece" category. The work is very good throughout, with the exception of moments in which it is great. Just as important is that it has few, if any irritants. Epic Fantasy is a tricky endeavor as any use of modern, or clearly Terran expressions, settings, or vulgarity can yank the reader out of the fantasy world and remind him that it is just a story. The author does a good job of avoiding these. I highly recommend this series, as well as the Chaos and Retribution series that preceded it. I am hereby begging the author to keep writing these fine works of fantasy.

No doubt about it. This book is winner. It's the story of Jarryd a descendant of a Knight of Dragonwatch. He always wanted to learn more about them and his dream was being one. He takes a trip to see where they were centered and that's where his life took a turn. This is a story with many adventures and emotions especially sadness. The book is full of action. The only thing I didn't like about this book is that it's a cliffhanger.

Jarred is one courageous young man. How is he going to build an army of Knights when he is supposedly the last one?

It doesn't surprise me that Mr.Knight has written yet another amazing story that is filled with great new characters and is action packed and hard to put down from start to finish and leaves you ready to pick up the next book,as he makes his stories and characters so real and life like you can picture them as if you were in the story yourself.

This is a must read for fantasy lovers! Eric has once again written a fantastic story. You follow Jarryd on his quest to resurrect the Knights of Dragonwatch. The characters are credible and well developed through out the story and the plot is really well thought out. It's fast paced, the kind of book you can't put down and suddenly, it's 2am. Fantastic book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another brilliant read

Oh where to begin. Dragons, life force magic and knights are the building blocks for a story that starts with what initially seems to be a very ordinary boy. Jarryd suffers from visions that he daren't tell anyone about because he sees demons. If the Rector finds out Jarryd and his family will likely be burnt! Its where thought the first book was going BUT this is Mr Knight and the man don't mess about. The tale picks up pace while remaining true to character development and the plot. I love that there's some background for the Emperor so early in the story, it's given me a lot to ponder.
Can't wait for the next in the series.

Knight did it well again ,as we travel along with Jarryd a vision touched farmers boys.
As is to be expected we soon discover their is great tasks for Jarryd as we are soon pulled into a masterful world of characters and fantasy adventure. Knight does what he does best and brings the characters into our heart and so draws us into the pages to live the emotions of this story.
Especially enjoying that book 2 is so close to coning out so i can enjoy even more of this enthralling new world

The book follows the story of Jarryd, a farmers boy beset by visions of demons. His world changes when he discovers he is actually the son of a Dragon Knight not a farmer as he always thought.
In true Eruc T Knight style I am already drawn into his world of magic, dragons and chaos. Thankfully I only have 5 days to wait for the next book in the series.
