    Synopsis: Nicole is 30 years old and she is successful in her career but she's a little disillusioned by love - as in, she's never been in love. But she wants to have a baby, and is fully prepared to have and raise a child alone, with a little help from modern medicine.

    But then she considers her co-worker Ryder. Ryder had a very tough divorce and isn't interested in getting back out there to date or do anything resembling a relationship. But he's got all the attributes Nicole wants for the other half of her baby.

    So they make a deal - and while he's helping her with her project, she's also helping him get back on track with what's going on for him at work.

    Conclusion: This was fun to read, and I loved how sweet the story was. Both characters are 100% loveable.

    “Kisses are the sustenance of love. They will feed you.”

    Be still my beating heart, Lauren Blakely certainly hit the spot with The Knocked Up Plan. While I have seen this plot done before, the difference with this one was that this was just so much more. From navigating the paths of broken hearts and trust issues, to swoon worthy dates, dialogue that hits all those heart strings and to a hero that will have you worshipping at his feet. I fell in love with these characters just as much as I fell in love with this book. My heart was full to bursting, tearing up from pure emotion as these two characters navigate their way to “I Love You.” Absolutely adored it.

    “I like it hard. I like it good. And I like it a lot.” A groan echoes in his throat. I tap-dance my fingers down his chest. “And I think I’m going to find out if you’re as good in bed as I’ve always thought you might be.”

    Ryder certainly stole the show in this book, this was a man that loved with his entire being, Mr Romantic, a doctor of love…until his wife ruined it and him in the process. Now bitter, he is adamant that he will never go there again. His heart has a huge wall erected in front of it, an impenetrable fortress. Ryder’s outlook on love is jaded and this reflects in his work, something his boss is not happy about. Ryder is Mr Relationship guy on the radio, but after the demise of his own he has little left to talk about.

    “I don’t know how I fit into this scenario. My part is over, like a character in a play who was killed off in the first act. My role in the story of her life has ended…”

    Nicole is the sex therapist at the same radio station, she has commitment issues, again jaded on the love front but constantly feels the incessant ticking of her biological clock. Nicole was raised by a single mum, she knows that it is possible and she knows that she has had a great life, so she decides to go it alone. Sperm donor…artificial insemination…or her colleague, her friend…Ryder.

    “So, love is a virus?”
    “Absolutely. And it seems I’ve got more antibodies to it than I expected,”

    This was more than a “contract for sperm” book. Lauren Blakely delivered on so many fronts. Firstly, the dating scene, but insofar as dating is not all about getting laid, but that getting to know you stage and getting to trust you stage. With POV’s from both Ryder and Nicole the reader is treated to a broad spectrum of thoughts and opinions, emotions and feelings as what started out as a business arrangement soon turns into a lot more.

    “I’m standing in front of my building, holding my keys with the tadpole charm, wondering what the f*** I’m supposed to do about the whole no expectations part of the arrangement. Right now, I want expectations.”

    The emotional connection is what really got to me, these characters wormed their way into my heart and as the reader is treated to their inner most thoughts and feelings before they are shared with each other you will find yourself on the edge of your seat desperately willing them along. To take that chance, make that jump. These two were just so right for each other. The chemistry was palpable, the between the sheets action was not only hot but intense and emotional and that is something that I haven’t felt in quite a while.

    “The world fragments around us as we come together. And I know without a shadow of a doubt that I’m in love with the mother of my child. But I know, too, that I haven’t a clue if she wants the same things I do.”

    I had pre-ordered this book, as soon as it downloaded I started reading, early morning reading, and before the kids had their breakfast this book was read. I could not put it down, totally engrossed and loved every single bit. While my eyes probably have bags…it was worth it. I have read a few by this author now and it seems I have a lot of catching up to do.

    Lauren Blakely is one of my favourite writers. She writes romantic comedy like no other. 'The Knocked Up Plan' was fantastic - one of, if not her best yet. It is the sweetest, funniest, most romantic read of the year. I adored it.

    She always writes wonderfully rich and warm characters and Ryder and Nicole are fabulous and steal the show. Co-workers and relationship/sex advisors with their own his and her style radio shows they are great at bestowing advice to their own gender on how to get the best "O's' and find love however personally neither of them have been lucky in love. Nicole hasn't felt the sparks of love and Ryder was burned by his ex. What adds so much to the story is the friendship and easy banter they share.

    Ryder is so hot, funny yet kind, and sweet also. So when Nicole decides she wants to be a single mum she thinks it's a great idea to use Ryder as a sperm donor instead of the faceless names on a list and Ryder doesn't want a commitment but wants Nicole they both figure it's a great idea. A fun ride of exceptional dates and steamy scenes begins... and I was glued!

    I just adored this story with all of its energy, humour and sex appeal.
    Ultimately this book is just perfect reading - utterly original but heartfelt.
    The epilogue is a fabulous ending but it is bittersweet as we just want to read more about these two. Thankfully there are more books to come and we have the twins to look forward to.

    This was an amazing book. Just stellar. The smut was hot, the characters were great, and it made me smile the whole way through.

    My favourite character was definitely the mom, though. I loved how she seemed driven, professional, put together, the very image of a cold hard bitch, but actually a beautiful, loving, and warm woman.

    I know it is weird to get so attached to a side character but I did anyway.

    This is an amusing book even if it's based on an unusual premise. Nicole decides she wants a baby, but not a husband so she selects her gorgeous co-worker, Ryder for the task. He is physical perfection, indicating good genetics. He is intelligent, fit and healthy and best of all he is a committment-phobe so there is no chance that he would want to be involved once she became pregnant. Nicole actually propositions Ryder by asking him to 'knock her up'. He is a little startled at first but since he's always lusted after her, he agrees. They get used to sleeping together and look forward to it both missing each other when successful conception takes place. The story is by turns funny, heartwarming and moving as they each learn more about the other and finally fall in love not only with the baby but with each other. A lovely, funny, story, not to be missed.
