Editorial Reviews
Review
Clarissa Carlyle's story is written in an uncomplicated style. The plot moves along at a good pace as the story explores what could happen when a young teacher and eighteen-year-old pupil fall in love with each other. They know this is a violation of trust and boundaries - but, of course, feelings are feelings, and they know to hold back until Alex finishes school. I liked the character of Alex. Her need to fit in and hide her true self was both sad but understandable. A gentle and positive story about facing and coming to terms with trauma and finding a love that enables healing and eventually moving forward in a healthy way. --Readers' Favorite

New Adult Romance author. Reading was my earliest passion, often seeking the sanctuary of my room or the library to read everything I could get my hands on.
I probably drink too much coffee and eat too much junk food, but to compensate do like running and rollerblading outdoors when the weather is nice. I'm a hopeful romantic who prefers stories with a happy ending. You can often find me in a library or coffee shop working on my next story, or with my nose in a book.

The 2nd book was just ok for me. It was meant to be a time filler, synthesizing the college years. I was disappointed that with everything Mark did for Alex and even with his declaration to wait, she kept him at a distance-I mean he practically got her into Princeton and she didn't even invite him to graduation? Selfish and self centered. Since I am a glutton for punishment, I decided to read book 3 of the series.
If book 2 just simply annoyed me with Alex's actions, then book 3 just angered me. How could Alex be so unforgiving and cold when she was the one who provided the ice. The only reason I finished the series was in the hopes that at least Mark ended up happy.
Alex Herron is such a clever and smart girl but due to her keeping a lot of secrets the act she puts on currently is starting to wear her out. She is deliberately choosing to get bad results in order to fit in as the stereotypical cheerleader that she wants everybody to see her as, she feels as though if people knew the real her then she would be cast aside by the majority of people and that is the last thing that she wants.
Things are going to plan for Alex until she see's the new maths teacher Mark, he is clearly the type of teacher that all the girls in the school are going to be talking about, even Alex cannot resist the fact that he is clearly attractive and once they start talking she feels as though things just come naturally. There is a clear mutual attraction between the two so when Mark wants to help Alex out with extra tutoring sessions you get a feeling that things are going to possibly develop in a way that would be risky for both.
However what will happen to any possible relationship when Alex goes to college, Will she get into a relationship just to move away after a short time, will she meet somebody at college or will the feelings between her and Mark develop and lead to a long loving relationship.
As you go through each and every book of Clarissa's you fall in love as the words develop into a well thought out story, her books are always amazing and will always make you smile.
